It doesn’t look like there’s a thread for this. The newest extended gameplay trailer below. I am getting to a point where I don’t want too many spoilers so I think this may be the last footage I watch. Any 40K or even action shooter/Gears fans may get good feels from this. My only worry is that for the first time in a long time there are actually too many games I want to play at once - by the time this comes out it will be competing with Forza, Armored Core, Mortal Kombat and I still haven’t really started Diablo! |

Wait, is there that much of a Smurf focus? Boltgun and SM2 is all I can see.
My point was more that most of these are, at best, getting a DLC announcement. Maybe?* TW Warhammer 3 isn't exactly new.
It is a weird thing for GW to tie themselves to/celebrate when 90% of the games are between average and OH GOD WHY. I think my list of games that are good to great is:
Space Hulk (Amiga)
Dawn of War
Dawn of War: Winter Assault
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
Dawn of War: Soulstorm
Dawn of War 2
Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising
Total War: Warhammer 2 and 3.
And the rest are just some degree of bum. You have a massive bag of nerd shit and a massive bag of nerds that want that shit, just make something good for once.
*And some of that DLC should be a free crematorium ceremony.

I’m talking about Space Marine 2. That’s an UM game just like the first.
I hope it’s good anyway. Boltgun was cool but ultimately had poor design IMO - it was too hard to navigate the maps and I never finished it. Blood Bowl shat the bed, and earlier incarnations were good so that was a shame.
I don’t like Skaven so never got into Vermintide.
Rogue Trader does look lovely but probably too complex for my liking. A couple of the more recent games look like Diablo but not as good.
The less said about all the mobile freemium games bolstering half of this list the better.
I think there’s a bit of a history of meh output for Warhammer games.
SM2 does look like it’s going to be great, and if it’s as good as the first one was or better it should achieve that.
What they ought to do is a fighting game like Mortal Kombat. That’d be cool. And it could go Primal Rage scale when you played as a titan. And it could go Marvel vs Capcom and cross the streams between 40K, Old World, Sigmar and the rest

Imho the problem with warhammer and especially 40k games is there are too many of them and they're all very similarly named, so they all blur into one big mass. I like the fact that Warpforge has 'The Card Game' right there in the title, because otherwise if gets very tricky to remember which one of Darktide, Battlesector, Gladius, Armageddon, Carnage, Sanctus Reach etc.. is which. I thought there were 40k Doat games and Arena Battle games, but I can't remember which ones those were. Plus a whole lot of well meaning small studios got obscure 40k/Warhammer licenses like the Orc Racing one or the Air Combat one, that they were never going to make a profit on, got half way through and then the game got abandoned, or released and abandoned. It's a shame. Very few of them ever became well known enough to make their mark. (Dawn of War, Space Marine, er.. ) Rogue Trader does sound good. |

There is quite a bit of UM focus in digital WH40K projects, though. I'm not really fond of UM, but maybe that's because in my heart, I'm a heretic.
I still did enjoy Space Marine 1 quite a bit, though. It was maybe a bit simplistic, and some of the weapons felt a bit underpowered, but all in all it was quite good.

They did a bunch of different chapter skins for Space Marine 1 as DLC I think, so I imagine they'll do something similar.
I enjoyed the first half of the first one a lot, but it all got a bit samey after a while.

I've played it through a couple of times over the years, but I'm more than ready for it to be over by about 2/3 of the way through as it's pretty much the same thing over and over. (I feel the same way about the Gears of War games, honestly) Also, hearing Orks yell "SPOICE MAROINES" every 5 seconds for several hours wears you down after a while. |

The ending to the first I loved. Essentially recreating the "fly you fools" LOTR scene with you playing the role of Gandalf as an Ultramarine, with a chaos space marine lord playing the balrog.
Seemingly falling to your death while punching him in the face until his head explodes.. As perfect an end to a space marine game, as I could have ever asked for!

It’s a shame this leak. It’s looking like, at least visually the best 40K game ever. Presumably there will be some reports of bugs and stuff as it’s unfinished, so we might get console players put off from buying because of that and I’d assume a percentage of PC players who will have played and finished it by release. I then guess it’s what percentage of people want to keep coming back for multiplayer. I guess a saving grace is we console peons don’t really get to do the pirate thing.
This game is already releasing in a tough spot because of COD and I don’t think it’s a huge developer is it?
