I'm happy if move it to an opt in politics place.
I'm fully behind the GW declaration above. I believe that was inspired by tournaments in I think Texas, Spain and maybe Italy with people turning up in actual SS uniforms. I'm sure those morons do identify Space Marines with Nazis. Kinda my point is that they are morons because the parallels don't actually work that well. Yknow morons be fucking morons.

I mean, the Emperor literally said don't worship me, and yet as soon as he was powerless to fight it they started treating him like the golden calf. Even that core tenet is corrupted as fuck.

I do find all the antecedents of Warhammer really interesting, though this isn't the thread so much. There's so much interesting sci-fi/fantasy, art and history involved. Along with the general punk vibe of the UK of the time (2000AD and all the insane hairdos and corsets are very goth).

Put a good 10 hours or so into the operations which is way more than I would usually play something like this, mainly on easy then the first 2 ops on normal as I level up. Heavy is an absolute war machine when you get the parry timing and a few levels on him but its easy to go down fast, you have to stick to someone like glue to get the best out of it. Tactical and Bulwark have been my other go to classes, both are really strong. How much fun would this be playing as Orks! Pretty safe from all the bullshit as well, it's just very angry fungus that believe painting things red makes them go faster.

Sorry to say, Orks also take criticism from modern, more socially aware audiences for poking fun at the working class as they are based on the football hooligans of the 1980's (chanting "'ere we go, 'ere we go, 'ere we go!", comically dense, exceptionally violent, etc.). Angry fungus, indeed. YOU ALL NEED TO STOP ENJOYING THINGS. NO FUN ALLOWED. --Look, I'm just passing the message on regarding the criticisms I see levelled at different aspects of the setting, I don't subscribe to any of this fucking guff myself. Most of us just want to play the games, paint our little plastic men and make "pew pew" noises when we get a good roll on the dice. I enjoy doing Orky voices when I'm stompin' sum gitz as much as the next person!

I think the orcs made for a more fun enemy in the first game, I would love to see a dlc either playing as them or fighting against them.

Don't forget Speed Freeks literally released a week or two before SM2. Yeah, it's free to play - but it's actually a decent blast of Orky madness in little bursts.

Completed it last night. Wasn’t a fan of the final boss (too spongy), I won’t lie. The whole thing was pretty epic though.
Overall enjoyed it. Did start getting slightly better at the game but do think there are some balance issues. Enemies can be too spongy, hordes strip too much health and stun lock you too much.
Would buy any proper DLC in a flash. What could the next race be for a potential SM3? Necrons feel too shooty and not horse enough to work, ditto Eldar and Tau. Genestealer cults? Might be a bit same-y though.

Based purely on the fact that there was a whole section inside a Necron tomb I think it's safe to say it'll be the T'au. Gotcha (probably Necrons - although Titus does go off world at the end, so maybe not?)

Dawn of War II was my mainline game for about 18 months. Even the suggestion of firing it up again is making me slightly giddy. Might have to do it.

Do it. I still play through all three DoW2 campaigns every couple of years. And DoW:Soulstorm probably gets played even more often

The best part was, when I re-installed and loaded it up just now, the updated version had no trace of that fucking Games For Windows Live taint.

To be more specific, I couldn't decide between DoW1: Soulstorm and DoW2: Retribution.
But since they've done the anniversary edition and it turns out I already had DoW1 vanilla from somewhere, I now have DoW1: Soulstorm (and everything else DoW1), which is nice. But also the entry cost to DoW2: Retribution has doubled. The lord giveth and the lord taketh away.
Decision made I guess.

Sadly I can’t afford a gaming PC to play either because of IRL plastic habits

These consoles are great anyway. The only thing I love my pc for is the mouse input in any game that involves shooting. Currently playing 2077 and yeah it looks incredible but the best bit is the combat vs the console version. Outside of that I think I prefer the simplicity of gaming on Xbox.

Or probably any old laptop from the last 5 years, even with integrated graphics... Dark Crusade has the better campaign than Soulstorm. Dude, don't start! Before i had choice paralysis about DoW1 vs DoW2 i had a few decades of choice paralysis about Dark Crusade vs Soulstorm. (Opinions seem petty evenly split iirc, though soulstorm was needed for most mods. Which brings up the good point of whether said mods will work with the new edition?

I'm just talking about the singleplayer campaign. Obviously if you want to play multiplayer or even skirmishes, Soulstorm is the way to go, because you get more content. Mods are probably also most for Soulstorm, yes. I only dabbled with mods, though, I think it was one of the Tyranid mods in a pretty early and shitty stage.

Sparring could be good for combos.

It's much better in the Chaos missions now, Op 5 with the dreadnought is a long one but satisfying. Still not as good as Tyrranids though, I dont have a Chainsword to make enemies poop magic blue dust. Give me a fucken giant eyeball to chainsaw my way inside.
Not enough headbutting either.
