Operations is pretty savage in that the missions are long and if you’re with randoms and fail at the end the xp you get when failing is pathetic. It’s either win and get all the xp or lose and get almost nothing for your last 30+ minutes.
Also always try and find the gene seed and the armour upgrade item during the mission. They are generally out the way behind a create or something.

Did the first story mission proper last night; what a satisfying game to play! The combat has a real heft to it, I love lumbering about as a fucking space marine with a chainsword. I'm very intrigued about the online modes, and am looking forward to trying them all, but want to focus on the campaign first. It's very, very pretty to look at, I often find myself getting attacked whilst I'm just trying to take in the scenary

Just a casual tab of lb whilst my character is still enjoying the view and he just one hand catches it without looking.

The best one to me is the move where you can set up a pistol snapshot. Seems to be related to parries for heavier enemies but with the chain sword you can get them with a single heavy attack on the chaff enemies, that is if they are not cleaved!

I think it’s if you parry a big one twice in a row then you can get two headshots on them and it’s blows their head clean off. Satisfaction every time. The little ones is if you heavy attack them on the first time you hit them and then it’s one shot to explode their head.

Just watched Gamespot’s recap of the first game, which I never finished. I wish I could play this on my Xbox.

Played the first operation on minimal threat last night, that was quite good fun. Still got downed a couple of times though. Then did a few round of pvp which is fun but basic like the first. File it under ‘will play when the disk is in the drive’.

Just over a gig hot fix patch out and it’s really made the game better. Three attempts to play operations, three times stuck on joining server for mission launch. Never an issue before.

Completed one mission from at least ten attempts to join a game now. Freezes nearly every time so have to force quit and re load the game again, which is one of the slowest games to load on this console generation.

Played another mission on Veteran with my son. Chaotic and fun at the same time, the jump packs are great. Seemed to join up ok and loaded fairly quickly on PC. May have just got lucky though. One mission a night seems to be all I can handle, they are all quite long and intense and I don't want to rush through it. I'm glad my son is a big warhammer fan as he is filling in a lot of the lore and different enemy types as we play.
I love the epic vibe to it all.

Veteran the normal difficulty? Or one higher?
I’m just about pushing my way thru in normal, just done the 4th mission. The chains bit necessitated a few retries. Feels tricky to focus on things when being battered from all sides (see also zoanthropes).

I’m near the end to the campaign and I’ve beaten all the operations on the default difficulty. Without spoiling anything the first half of both are sooooo much better for reasons best left for when most players have done it. It’s just no where near as fun later although it keeps it cinematic etc I just hate the change.
Upto level 8 on my bulwark! Some decent perks starting to be unlocked.

After finishing the campaign at the start of the week I've been giving PvP a shot for the past few evenings. Not really feeling it though, which is a shame. 6v6 just feels too small and the arenas (of which there are only 3) are really compact. It's good for a short blast but matches get repetitive quickly.
On top of that, there's always a rush for the 'good' classes and only 2 slots for each, so half the time you end playing a class you're not so keen on.
Unless they expand the multiplayer pretty fast I can see the current player counts dropping rapidly tbh.

Imagine 50 v 50 space marines on large ish maps. Even better with vehicles, although that might be asking for much.

Yeah like that but without the horrendous desync issues.

Horde mode with Aggressors and Terminators. Imperial Guard artillery as a streak reward/near defeat option.
A Space Hulk mode, again with Terminators.
A sparring mode where you can choose the enemy to practice your combos.

I could also see PVP Space Hulk working well, bit like left 4 dead.

Another Space Hulk game? There are like 4 already, and all of them are quite good.

I do agree that a Terminators vs Genestealer Cult PvP mode would be cool in Deathwing. It has enough unit diversity on the Tyranid side to provide interesting class choices for players.

Deathwing is literally what you're asking for Not quite - first person - and I suspect definitely not available on my platform. PS4 and PC. But yeah, first person only. You probably need that for the claustrophobic corridors and combat though.
