Haven’t seen any mention of the forum (their secret shame) in any of the 25th anniversary stuff yet. I’m presuming it’s being Mandela Effected out of existence. I know we thought a lot of ourselves but the forum must have contributed enough for at least a footnote. I mean, yeah, whatever I wouldn’t necessarily have wanted that trove of bullshit hanging around the sites neck for much longer but come on. |

There was a user at the old place who wanted to practice his drawing and so took requests from everyone and would sketch out whatever naff shit he got asked for. Thinking about it now it was essentially a precursor to AI generated images but for the EG hive mind  Can't remember their username and I don't have any record of their old drawings. Couple of EG forums memories... Started posting there in the "orange" EG days maybe around 2002ish. There was a regular poster called "Dadrester", don't think he's made it over to Fontgeek dadrester (edit: oi oi) but he still posts on Resetera. He also runs Nosebleed Studios, who most recently made the brilliant Arcade Paradise. Anyway, I always read his username as Dad Rester. Fast forward a couple of years and on some random thread for some random reason I think "almost sounds like this guy grew up in the same town as me". Couple of questions later and yep, he did. Not only that but Dad Rester is actually "Da Dre'ster" aka Andreas aka Dre...one of my IRL good mates who I've known since high school. That was pretty nuts! Check my DMs "mate give me your address, I'll send you some". Used to love EGGMILF squads action playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 with a load of forumites. Key giveaways were always a fun time trolling all the new traffic. I remember once for a giveaway for a game with loads of hype, you could see the User ID numbers surging by 100s every minute. Through timing and luck (and being a pathetic loser), I actually bagged the username '200k', with a perfectly matching UID. Absolute scenes. Mad to think it's coming up to 25 years for me. Crazy levels of patience and gluttony. |

What was the thing to do with the U.K. taekwondo champ? Can’t quite remember. Hi, that's me. Lived with guy who happened to be a taekwondo champ at the time. Slept with his sister. Thought that it was a solid idea to ask for advice on public forum. Huge embarrassment and deleted the thread way beyond when I should have. Zero consequences though for those that want an update. We were replying in the thread and continually mentioning the UK Taekwondo Champion in the hope that Google bots would pick it up and push it up the search results. |
