A F2P shooter. It's the first time in a long time I've felt a shooter was original It's exciting even when it's going badly. It makes you feel like you're in an action film and the moment-to-moment gameplay promotes creativity.
It's the game with the most destruction I think I've ever seen and probably the first game where I saw the promise of 'the cloud' as the destruction is handled server side.
3v3v3. You need to grab a box of money and deposit it at a different location.
You're chucked into an arena that's a mix of high and low buildings, narrow roads, piazzas (piazzi?), jump pads, ziplines and explosive barrels.
Are you defending? Put down a turret and set up barricades. Are you attacking? Grab an explosive cannister and fire it at the defending team as if you were in Portal, blow out the floor where the turret and barricades were. No more defences.
In my last game with a friend, we came back from zero to win in the final seconds. The cashout point was suspended in the air and could only be reached by a zipline. Any attempts to get up there and kill the baddies failed.
I went up the zip, throw a C4 charge, went down the zip, blew the charge and floating building collapsed. The cashout fell to the ground, covered by rubble. My friend threw down a bubble shield, stole the cashout.
In another game we were defending and being pressed really hard. I saw a gas canister on the floor and an enemy near it. I shot the canister hoping to kill them, but it exploded and the (now two) enemies fell through to the floor below.

It's confusing to begin with, especially gadget selection. the default is to hold left shoulder and use right stick to select. Definitely do the tutorial. I think the first few games should be about getting used to the controls.

Had a little go with my son. Couldn’t work out how to add him to my party even after adding him as a friend . Seemed fun but will defo take some getting used to

The party system is odd and I'm not sure how well it works. I only play in an Xbox part and invite people from the dashboard as normal.

Yeah this has its hooks in me, most fun I've had in a shooter in years. Got most of my time in heavy and medium and unlocked pretty much everything bar some tools on the light.
Really don't care about losing as there are 3 or 4 teams, I only tend to measure performance against my team and I can nearly always rationalise I was not the worst somehow. Solo queuing is fine but team mates can be a mixed bag.
Most of my time in the 4 team Bank It mode which has you shooting people for money. You can see the DNA of Team Fortress 2, Bad company and Quake in there. It's just bloody good fun, can see myself getting hundreds of hours out of it if they don't fuck it up.

Tomo - that's a general thread, chap. I thought an Xbox one would be useful. I know it's crossplay, but I can't get the in-game invites to work whatsoever, nor the in-game voice chat.
