This is definitely up there with Returnal for game of the gen. It's so fucking good.
Had some great games with Randoms tonight that reminded me of the L4D days when people actually played it properly instead of being dicks.
When shit kicks off and everyone times strategems perfectly, it's a sight to behold.

Three people with only 9 stratagems between us seemed like it maybe asking a bit much but if you move your arse it was quite straightforward in the end, doing this against bugs would probably be very tough.

If anyone is playing this on AMD, latest driver update gives a nice performance boost. Enough to ditch their shitty resolution scaling for me and stay over 100FPS.

The Airburst Rocket Launcher is ridiculously dangerous, the warhead explodes as soon as it sees a target after firing. If you fired if off towards something a decent distance away it's fine but if there's something you can't see that's behind a rock it'll just go bang even if the firer is well within the blast radius. Hopefully they'll introduce something like a 10 metre arming distance because it's just too hazardous to use as it is now.
edit: further testing shows pretty much everything is an enemy according to the warhead; ammo boxes, sentries, fuel canisters, stim boxes...

In its current, prefixed state, an Arrowhead CM has said this isn't the version that'll get rolled out, I'd much rather have something that won't kill me when it detects anything it decides is a threat.
I'll stick to my quasar, as it one shots dropships and gunships and won't kill me on a whim.

I think I'd rather fight on Hellmire than Chort Bay , you can barely see there's very little cover other than sand dunes on a lot of it and this mission only on Suicide was close to impossible at the end. There were so many medium and heavy bots dropping in at the final mission stage that we ended up largely having to use the reinforcement timer to bring people back and very nearly ran out of time completely. I'm all for exciting action but we were already having difficulty but it even dropped in a factory walker. Fortunately it seemed to wander off once it killed who it could see.
Oh and having only 3 stratagems meant we were rather under equipped for that many enemies!

The airburst rocket launcher in the wrong hands is lethal. Had a guy trying to keep using it last night and blew us all up about 5 times.

Not tried the improved cluster weapon today (it's 8000 req and not high level from the looks of things), new major order and act shocked the TCS that some of us spent a lot of mission switching on to stop the Terminids has gone wrong and is accelerating their growth and evolution. Major order is to turn the bloody things off on the barrier worlds and pop the mutated eggs that are in a new mission type. There's now a small version of the spore spewer that's dotted around the map to kill so you can see better, which is nice.

So apparently Sony are now requiring PC players to create PSN accounts, and link their Steam accounts thereto in order to continue playing; the shit has well and truly hit the fan as a result, with the game being review-bombed by irate PC users.
This is a real bummer to see - I'm not playing Helldivers myself (mainly 'cause no PS+), but loads of people are, and it had been one of the year's real feel-good gaming stories before today.

It was a requirement from the start, they had to switch off the account linking when the servers were struggling, anyone who played it on PC at the start had to link a PSN account.
Creating an account, even for someone in a country that isn't supported so they'll have to select somewhere else and Sony knows full well people do this, isn't that much of faff.

Yeah I'm confused here. I get PC players complaining about having to do a login because there's always a login but it's very minor. But everyone keeps saying that if you'll get banned because you'll be breaking Sony's TOS but everyone I know even myself has PSN accounts in different countries and as far as I know Sony doesn't give a shit. Is this just another thing for people to be outraged about?

I'm sure a lot of the rage is stoked by awful content creators as it gets them clicks. One streamer I've seen saying they're not going to play it any longer was streaming Stellar Blade the day before...
