Partly agree dfunkedI felt the same until I got my Series X. I know its a grey area, but being able to get foreign keys from reseller sites such as Gamivo has been an absolute godsend. Its the main reason I am now 99% all digital. Games can get crazy cheap on there. If this wasn't possible, I know I would be buying far fewer games though. There is no way I would pay £70 on release.

Long live physical releases. If for no other reason you know for sure that an all digital future is going to be tightly price controlled and prices will be forever higher. Simple market condition facts sadly. Plus there's the long term content ownership argument but that is less important.

Huh no Steam... Just the Ubi store... That's a choice. That is a bizarre one but kudos for them keeping direct control despite the likely losses!

It's a weird one to me I guess, because seeing this has a season pass makes me hesitate more than ever and bemoan why a single player game needs one. But then when you look back even 10 years ago, there were still season passes at launch for the likes of Fallout, Arkham Knight, Black Flag. I'm trying to pin why it irritates me more this time round. Maybe it's because of the state some full price games come out at, of which Ubisoft is partly responsible. Maybe it's just cause its that more expensive now. Thi k primarily, it's just you've no idea whether or not the content within the pass is even worth it.

Simple market condition facts sadly. Plus there's the long term content ownership argument but that is less important. I like having both as a option. I also started sharing games again with a friend of mine in addition to two of my brothers. I only buy digital when the price is significantly lower or when I desperately want a way to play said game without the hassle of mail. Ever since Sony purged my PSN downloads on the PS3 I have little faith in my digital libary being around for more then 10 years. I also bought armored core 6 for 20 euro, returnal for 15 and atelier sophie for 20. All significantly lower then digital prices with resell value. So far I have not bought a single game at 70 euro aside from preordering Baldurs Gate 3 deluxe. FF16 and rebirth were bought for 58 euro on release.

I think almost every single player Ubisoft game has a season pass. I get why they do it because they want to keep you in the world, keep playing you the game which obviously leads to a longer tail in sales. Obviously if you buy some MTX along the way then that's even better for them.

I don't have an issue with Season Pass content provided the core game meets the requested value of the product in terms of price and quality. It irks me far more when the core game is noticably shorter then similar genre games of a similar type yet the price remains high. I will personally be looking closely at game length along with previews before any type of commitment. If it ends up around £45 on ebay for PS5 after a discount and the previews are decent along with good game length a week or so prior to release then my resolve might fail but otherwise I can wait (more high quality games then ever to play compared to available gaming time anyway!)
The Gold & Ultimate edition prices of this game are eyewatering though!
Own it Ubi... just merge them and rename them to "Ultimate FOMO Cash Rinser edition". And the 3 day early release bonus... I REALLY dislike this, not due to FOMO or risk of spoilers etc but it's just a slap in the face of the mass market players who you still want to charge a lot of money to play your game at launch imo, I'm suprised game companies are persisting with that bonus type...

Only reason 3 day early passes exists for single player games is to con streamers.

Don't give a shit. Nuh huh! As somebody else said in the thread earlier, this will be something I pick up next year when it's sub 40 and comes with all the dlc bundled.

I have a digital edition and do appreciate the quietness also. I don't feel I'm missing out toooo much, with the sales on physical disks.
I have a huge catalogue of games I've picked up cheap in digital sales, so when I get around to picking up a relatively new game it has often dropped in price by then

I just looked at her and thought it seemed like a pretty cool gender reversed spin on the standard male scoundrel archetype for a change. That's literally it. No further dwelling on it needed.

I don't think the main character is ugly, but looks fairly generic. I'd rather play as the droid.

Simple market condition facts sadly. Plus there's the long term content ownership argument but that is less important. It went the other way on PC, with digital releases leading to much lower prices and bigger discounts. A key part of that is competition though, and the fact that you can buy digital PC games from different stores, and particularly the fact you can buy Steam games from loads of places that aren't Steam.
I assume consoles don't have that competition, if they're tied to just one marketplace.
Though I guess the future will be monthly subscriptions, and like Netflix and Spotify they'll be great value for a few years until everyone has adopted them, and then they'll start bumping the monthly price.

In what world is the main character ugly??!!
She reminds me of an actress, though I can't remember who. Not an ugly one though!

All these people are admitting is that they've never had any interactions with a woman that wasn't through a screen.

Only reason 3 day early passes exists for single player games is to con streamers. TBF most streamers are given free copies. The practice won't stop because people keep paying this weird tax even when they get shafted by it, case in point Suicide Squad's 100 quid edition that shat the bed during the early access period and they were refunded with...in-game currency.

There's the perception that every woman in games needs to look a certain way. That's why we had tonnes of kickback from Abby.

Everytime these guys pick shots of the main character or do comparison shots between them and the model they're based off, they always choose the most unflattering screencap of a character mid sentence or in motion. It's completely disingenuous, even real people don't look good if that happens. And as if a Star Wars branded property is gonna have Stellar Blade levels of fanservice that they want, who are they kidding?

Dunno about Xbox but Sony have a monopoly on digital codes on PSN, they control everything about them very few available from 3rd parties. It is a scam that somehow they have not been called out on. Deffo anti competitive

Deffo anti competitive I'm not up to date on what's been happening with the Apple and third-party appstore case. But it feels like rather than forcing the platform owners to allow 3rd party appstores, the courts should force them to allow 3rd party sale of product keys. That'd avoid most of their 'worries' about security, but also enable competition.
Which would then also apply to consoles, etc...

I am personally delighted that more realistic female representations are now becoming lead game characters and I hope it continues. Similar to the beauty industry broader female (and male) representation is important for our young and everyone. This is not woke, it is just considered and true.
Bigots can just do one.
Abby in LOU2 is attractive. Only thing scary about Abby was her propensity to violence but given the world they were living in even that was understandable!
