Ubisoft's open world Star Wars game, out on 30th August on PC/PS5/Xbox. Could be another Good Star Wars Game?

A Star Wars game with the Ubisoft formula. You're either sold on it right away or not. Will need to see some uncut gameplay footage first, plus Ubisoft has a habit of games being downgraded from when they're first shown off. Guess we'll see, the trailer didn't really grab me as much as an open world bounty hunter game sounds like.

On the fence until in depth previews arrive but on the face of it so far looks at least a 7/10

I do fancy this in theory.
I’m not a Jed Maxwell level SW super fan, but enjoy the universe and find playing in it nostalgic and comforting, esp the recent third person Jedi games.
Hopefully this will be good, but will wait until it’s reviewed to see how Ubisoft it is..

I laughed at 130 quid pre-order option.

I laughed at 130 quid pre-order option. It'll probably take longer to drop 50% than Skull & Bones' similar edition but it'll be that price by Black Friday.

Looks a bit like Solo, which may not be a big endorsement, but Solo probably would have made a better video game than a film.
Not rushing to order this, but will keep an eye out to see how heavy it is on the Ubisoft open-world-itis.

It’s the latest in a long line of ‘[…] BUT STAR WARS’ products and it looks utterly vanilla. Apart from anything else the franchise is so degraded and diluted these days that there’s nothing to it apart from lightsabers and that blaster noise.

Huh no Steam... Just the Ubi store...
That's a choice.

I still remember the first gameplay shown some time ago. It looks like uncharted starwars without the sense of exploration and great dialogue.
I hope ubisoft turns things around, they are still sitting on some amazing IP's and cant help but hope for more Rayman and Splinter Cell.

The only positive is that it's being made by Massive but I can already imagine how many icons are going to be on the screen.

Are they gonna barf icons all over the map? The new Avatar game wasn't too icon heavy and they had a cool exploration in it witch just hints at the landmarks and landscape. World was lovely too, just a shame the combat and quests with so average.

I'd love to stab a Jawa in the neck Do they have necks in that dark void? That's true. One must not stab into the void for too long, lest the void stabs into you.

Maybe it's just me but lately when I see a fancy edition that has things like a season pass or exclusive cosmetics, my mind just defaults to 'I'll just wait for the full game to come out in like a year or two years where it will be half the price'

At one time this would have been my dream game. An open world star wars bounty hunter (ish) game.
But it all just looks so painfully generic. Both as a game, and as a story. It looks like it checks off everything on a checklist, and in doing so ends up looking like the Boba Fett tv show.

Another one for my "I'll just sub to Ubisoft+ or whatever the fuck they call it for a month" list. Still haven't gotten around to doing that for AC, Motorfest or Avatar mind you...

It is like a mental block and that is my limit apparently. I can buy overseas PSN credit and jump through a few hoops but don't tend to do it these days for that price point. I wait for sales. Never been happy with Sony's digital sales market monopoly, that also factors into it. People seem to happy paying it so its a me problem I guess.

I agree, that's a crazy price. Myself and my brother share accounts so if there's a new game out we both want we can split the cost between us

As much as I want to embrace digital, it's kind of hard to when you can often get physical releases for £50ish instead of £70 with zero faffing about. On the other hand it's hard to justify buying physical too when it'll probably drop on one of your services for free eventually.

I know, I totally regret it now, though having a quiet PS5 is cool.
