I am well aware that this could just be me typing into a void, but in case there are any other victims out there, welcome.
I'm currently into my 5th year with Spurs which is further than I've ever gone. I used to take actual months to finish seasons, but this year I've dialled in and, well, am running a game alongside my day-to-day work which is probably not the best (is the best) use of my time.
Playing FM24 Touch on Mac, given that I'm subscribed to Apple One and it's on the Arcade bit. Not sure how it compares to full fat FM24 but it seems to be quite fully featured (at least compared to when I used to play a lot 10-15 years ago).
Any other tracksuit managers out there still losing hours to this?

I won't leave you alone in the void, / SHOUTS My name is Gruf and I share your shame I seemed to have kicked the habit somewhat though, but I was deep in the weeds there for a number of years. Bought every version from the original (Championship manager), and if you look at my (admittedly sparse) Steam most played list it would be all FM games (FM2013 500+ hours) I always start from Non League but tend to lose interest when I get into League 2. FM23 got Farsely to the top of League 2, transferred the save to FM24 but barely played since. Big changes in the next version apparently, with a "proper" match engine, I think it will be a shitshow myself These games are the football fans ultimate RPG

Likewise. My period of addiction started with trying CM2 at a friend's house and lasted until around FM12 though I've had few relapses since.
I'm one of the 'they made it too complicated ' crowd. Tactics and transfers were the fun bits. Training routines and press conferences not so much.

I tend to go the other way, I think they should lean more into the analytical stats, and not the half arsed effort they currently use.
I don't mind getting lost in the numbers.
I think in the back of my head they were riuned when I read somewhere that the result is set before you kick off in the engine. The changes you make from there only guides the final score.
May be bollocks but never sat right with me.

I decided in 2006 that I valued my relationship more so have barely played it since. When I was putting on a suit at 3am for an FA cup final and then opening a celebratory beer, I decided to evaluate my life choices. Not bought one since 2012 I think. But I jonesied hard.
Have tried running 2012 whilst working but it doesn't have the same appeal.

Yeah, add me to the list.
Currently in year 2060 of an FM2022 game. 1500+ hours.
Yikes.

LOL, you legend, not done the suit thing, though I did wear something smart when you could import your own picture for the manager profile pic. So sad It is a relationship wrecker, no doubt

I used to know Miles from SI back then. He said it had been cited in numerous divorce papers.

I get it, I play FM via IPad while watching dubious tv with the missus some evenings but I would be suprised if I average more than 10hrs per month over the course of the year these days. Always play more this time of year as my end of season RL Spurs interest and competitions final stages peak my general footy interest but only 4-6 hrs a week at most.
Back in uni days in the late 90's that was a different scenario and I'm just pleased I never got to see the game time totals!

I've tried to play on iPad (it seems made for it!) but the scrolling is nigh on impossible! Am I missing a trick with that? I always end up just moving players up and down instead of actually scrolling properly.

It is indeed. There are mitigating factors though! I was living on my own in a caravan on a building site for 19 months so I had some time to use. Due to the way I wanted to play (building the Irish league upbto one of the best in Europe) there was a lot of holiday time in the overall hour count. Once you get a few Champions League group stage payouts you tend to be able to win the home league easily. So I just played the European games and about 6-8 home games, and holidayed the rest. Mean time I was reading a book or doing some useful work or whatever while the laptop was racking up the hours.

I always end up just moving players up and down instead of actually scrolling properly. I don't have any issues with "touch" game version. Scrolling is not perfect but just go slow on the finger drag when reaching the scroll bar area and it is fine. Also make use of the sorting options for player lists etc.
Full FM on ipad I don't play so not sure sorry.

Much like the dating and Warhammer threads, I have no business whatsoever being in this one... ... But damn it all, there's something so joyous about your posts - I don't need to understand the minutiae to enjoy the enthusiasm on display.
(Also, Dougs' 3am suit-and-beer anecdote made me snort coffee out of my nose, so there's that as well.)

I've just hit 1200 games in charge. January 2042. I'm a monster.
