It really is just a lot of fun. Finished the first world and started a couple on the second. Some really creative little things (loved being a mouse ). Definitely have some holes in my PlayStation knowledge despite being there as a wide eyed seven year old with the first PlayStation!

Yodel are forgiven, controller turned up.
As already mentioned, it looks really smart.
Just need the game to turn up now to complete the set.

Had to tear myself away as real life duties have to happen!
130 bots collected, 3 bosses down.
Just glorious stuff. The GoW level was fantastic and simply not long enough!

That is precisely the review I'd expect from an author who writes a bio containing the words: "writing about the intersection of video games and sex."

My big problem with this game is that I don’t want to stop playing it but I also don’t want it to end.
Finding every bot and puzzle piece on each planet is such a joy, although I do get slight anxiety when I realise I’ve missed a bot somewhere along the way and have to retrace my steps.
The hub world is also full of brilliant surprises.
Can they just keep updating it with new levels over the coming weeks and months please?

I’ve worked out what’s missing from this. My mom, “Turn it off, you’ve been on it all day”

This game is fucking incredible. Never experienced such a tactile play space. Whole family is loving it. If only gaming was full of more of this kind of investment, rather than live service extraction shooters. Hope this sells well and sends a message to the industry.

It won't. To specify it will sell well but no the industry won't learn.

The pertinent paragraph from GameIndustry.biz article about Sony, Concord and live service games. But on the other hand, a few days after Concord was cancelled, Sony launched Astro Bot, arguably its most anticipated title for this quarter and, it's worth noting, a classic single-player title that relies heavily on nostalgia for PlayStation's great single-player games of old. If that achieves the commercial success that eluded Concord, perhaps there's a lesson there that will be hard to ignore – although I do fear that there's a certain breed of executive that will take that lesson to be "we need an Astro Bot live service game."

It is excellent, I've just almost 100 percented the first world tonight, got about 3 bots left to find.
Bit worried it's going to be a bit on the short side but I've lived with that my entire life so nothing new there.

Ha, I was totally thinking that. "Wow look how much money we've made" Vs "Wow, we could have probably made even MORE money if we used a FTP / DLC model"

I could do with a bit less of the squeaky voices, but that‘s really the only criticism I can even think of.

Oh shit yes, imagine what beauty those Nintendo first party studios could produce if they weren't constrained by programming around Tegra 1 architecture with 4gb RAM.

Played it the last couple of nights (not too much, still in the first 'world') and to say it reminds me why I began to enjoy gaming in the first place is an understatement. It brings that feeling of joy I first had when playing on my Game Boy or Sonic on the Mega Drive back in the early 90s and for those couple of hours I play Astro Bot, I feel like that excitement I had back then. It truly is stunning and shows so much creativity. Bravo to Team Asobi.
It also makes me angry that the rest of the industry seems hellbent on going in another direction altogether, but hey ho, let's enjoy wins like this when they come.

Tbf, you should also be angry at Sony both releasing this while at the same time closing down studios that make this kind of stuff in favour of their GaaS driven future. I believe the original plan was for 14 live service games.

Did the "mouse" level last night, that was absolutely incredible.
Odd thing about this game, everything looks and feels edible..I just want to gobble the rendering up.

Polished off the boss last night, now just have to round up everything else for the platinum. There’s a moment in the finale that even made my cynical negative old ass smile. 8 hours so far, though the email I got about it claims 0, which is fun.

The challenge level I had to do about 50 times certainly wasn't my favourite. Kept fucking the same bit up, I will be running that level in my sleep.

Crumble Rumble 3 for me. Did the necessary a couple of times, but kept getting caught by a flame just as I’d beaten the baddies, but before I could rescue the bot.
