I’ve got a good few hours deep over the last couple of days, and whilst it’s not going to set the world alight, I am having a lot of fun with it.
I reckon your mileage will vary depending on how much you like Star Wars. However, as a badge wearing SW nerd this is Star Wars porn done right. Little mention of Jedi’s and rebellions, but it hits the EU hard for inspiration, nails the look, sound and details and just feels excellent to jaunt around in. The only game other than Cyberpunk I’m just happy enough to walk around.
The sort of minimised Ubisoft-ness works quite well, as you uncover info about stuff quite naturally whilst snooping around. There’s a tonne of content in here too if you get invested and can be bothered with it.
Shooting and platforming is very Uncharted / Nu Tomb Raider. The speeder bike is fine for getting around. The space stuff is very light weight, but offers something different every now and then.
The 40fps mode on Xbox is very smooth. It does sometimes feel like it could use some better textures though. Some of the NPCs are a bit lacking.
Anyway, I like it. It’s good.
I really need a real life copy of Sabaac now.

Sounds like anybody who started the PS5 version in early access may need to start a fresh save after the latest patch. Progress breaking issues otherwise.

After what happened with The Suicide Squad you'd think it'd be a warning to everyone about specifically spending more to get it a bit early, you're just going to hit bugs that may have slipped through before the majority of people get to play it.
It is a bit different in that this is a single player game of course but it's something to be careful with.
No sign of my physical copy in the post so I've dodged the PS5 update issue at least!

Yeah those two examples specifically turn me away from the idea of early access. Obviously everyone is free to spend their money on whatever and maybe it syncs up with your time but when a company is asking for an extortionate amount of money and the product is failing to meet the conditions it sets out then that's just taking the piss.

You will be pleased to hear...well indifferent to hear I have cancelled my pre-order. I'm going to go for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden instead, get Star Wars after patches and or price drop. Still interested to read fellow EGers views.

I was lucky enough to start after the patch dropped so no progress issues for me I think/hope.
Enjoyed the 3 or so hours I got in last night. I think I'm just at a point where I can start taking on side quests and exploring a little. Feels like Mass Effect lite to me in terms of vibe so far.

I’ve bought this but for when Asssains Creed comes out, is there a trial for Ubisoft+ ? I can’t find an option anywhere or have they stopped it as they knew people would take the piss?

There used to be a 7 day free trial when the service launched on PC and console respectively, but that's long gone as far as I can see. I'd subscribe myself but these Ubisoft open worlders take me bloody months to finish, I'd end up out of pocket at £14.99 a month versus buying it. Worth doing if you can mainline them mind you.

Seen a video of the enemy AI in this game and it seem's to be lacking the I part.
4 or 5 stormtroopers all collected together going through routines/animations/voice audio.

I'm really starting to regret trading in my N64 copy of Star Wars Shadows of the Empire in 1999.

Put about 3 hours into this yesterday.
Honestly, aside from the aforementioned forced stealth missions (which themselves haven't been too horrible to play, yet...) it's been great. Genuinely quite impressed with it to be honest.
Spent far too much time on a shite arcade machine on the first planet that reminded me of a Tomytronic Sky Attack toy I had in the 80's!
Can never tell how well it will hold up long term with the Ubisoft formula to be honest. I blow hot and cold. Loved AC Odyssey, couldn't get on with Valhalla. Really depends how well the characters and story carry everything.

I'm not too far in but I'm enjoying it so far too. Not nearly enough played to give a solid opinion but that will change after having a bit of spare time. Fuck Saturdays at work!

*Rambling stream of consciousness ahead*
I'm still in the first open area (Toshara). Feels great - I love the seamless transition between out and indoors. I haven't even tarted up my ship to get off the planet there is still lots to do and get distracted by. Main city feel alive and vibrant. Not sure what all the pessimism from gamers before launch was all about - I like it all. Funny little bugs which take you out though - why have devs not sorted the npc standing on a table/console thingy - really breaks the immersion, but then it was an empire dude and maybe they just roll like that. Anyway, lead character is fine and engaging if not wholly original. AI is hit and miss but nothing too bad. Graphics are great as is the sound.

I've never played much more than a couple of hours of any AC/FC games so I don't have burn out - plus I just have a new 120hz telly so I'm still bang up for this.
Just headed on hols for a week though so it'll have to wait..
I'm also OK with relatively basic gameplay if the vibe and styling carry it. Loving Mafia at the mo for example.

Well after playing it a lot tonight it's pretty easy to say something about it, it's not another Assassin's Creed or Far Cry, it's Watch_Dogs:Star Wars, which is fine with me.
Having a lot of fun.

Hi mate, what tv did you get ? I'm still on the look out for 120hz (Gears 5 can be played at this rate) but can't decide between buying a "cheaper" but still named brand or more expensive. I want 65" minimum. p.s. enjoy your hols or if you read this when you return I hope you enjoyed your hols

I got it directly from LG where it was £300 off RRP and then had a short lived 30% off offer and earbuds chucked in. Seems decent but I've not put it through it's places properly yet and it's my first new telly for an age so nothing really to compare to. I can't believe they ship these TV's with so many ads on the home page.. you can get rid of them and get it looking smart but it's a real eyesore out of the box - I can't believe people put up with that crap.
