Right, so after my 2650 odd hours on Sins: Rebellion, god knows how many on its' predecessor, and bouncing off the early access version of 2 and found I just couldn't get into it and went back to Rebellion, I may actually be tempted to give 2 another chance, because of what's just been announced:
The first ever campaign for the Sins of a Solar Empire series! Discover the histories of the Trade Order/TEC, Advent and Vasari going back 11,000 years. Will feature a number of playable scenarios, cinematics, new units and more.
No release date announced yet.
I'm hoping that if this turns out to be any good, they'll do another one that actually serves as a sequel and expands on whatever the "ominous incoming thing" the Rebellion cinematic warned about and then never followed up on.

Fucking hell, they are actually adding a 4th faction:
The Harbinger expansion will add the much anticipated 4th playable faction to Sins of a Solar Empire II. Expect new gameplay, new warships, tech trees and more as this new enemy takes to the field!
