It was annoying me that we didn't have a thread for the consoles yet
To recap from the last few pages of the other place: - Art Of Rally is a bit buggy, restarting the console fixes the "can't start after selecting profile" bug - Hellblade got a Series upgrade (with no corresponding PS5 upgrade) and looks nice - Quick Resume seems to be added to more titles gradually, most are covered but not all

...aaaand now it's going to annoy me that I used a slash instead of a vertical bar. Ah well.

Can you not just edit it?

Can't see an obvious way to edit the thread title, no

Works with desktop view for me, title is just a text box that you can edit.

My Series X has started to make more of a noise lately when it's being pushed. Was absolutely silent when I first got it. I've noticed it on a few series X titles now.
Down with this sort of thing.

Can I just point out that it's X|S and not S|X

Let's talk about S|X baby, let's talk about you and me.

Which looks like SIX, and makes their naming conventions even weirder. But 6 is better than 5....

Finally nabbed a Series X over the weekend after weeks of trying, and tbh felt a bit underwhelmed and got buyer's remorse immediately after getting it, not because of the console itself but because having both next-gen consoles really feels like overkill for me at this stage. Ah well, it's good to have options I guess.
Physically the console itself is so much sleeker and nicer than the PS5 imo. The controller is pretty good too, loud buttons aside. Not sure about the UI, seems a bit cluttered compared to PS5, but quick resume really is nice. First time back into the Xbox ecosystem after nearly a decade, but thanks to Gamepass I can see this becoming my main machine (even though the PS5 feels more next-gen in many ways).

Series X are getting sharper UI (eg text being proper 4k) but for alpha testers at the minute

I sometimes drink to X|S (Still can't edit the thread title though) On mobile view there is a cog box next to the thumbs up. This allows you to edit not only the OP but also the subject title.

Nitrous THANK you! Edited. I switched the thread title to X|S rather than S|X, for chaotic reasons I will not explain further (Blame user BigOrkWaaagh)

Hello. I've just come here from the EG forum. I've nothing else to say except "hi" and "thanks for creating separate groups for the new consoles at last".

Yes, I am weirdly excited for the boost in resolution for the dashboard. Either I'm really sad, or it's proof that my new xbox is giving me continual joy in a time of great stress.

Hmmm not arsed about resolution but if it's hdr I'd be happy. Would stop the telly flicking around its various modes.

Tbh my buyer's remorse mostly went away as soon as I loaded up Forza Horizon. Just keep checking the usual sites though - I had to buy a bundle from GAME and it took a fair few goes for it to actually go through checkout. It's frustrating but more and more places are starting to have stock.

What's the battery icon on the top right of the screen for? I thought it might be for the controller battery charge, but it's not accurate (though I am using rechargeables).
Also, am I right in thinking that the Instant On mode is the closest equivalent to PS5's rest mode, to download games and updates?

The battery icon is for your controller, it's not always the most accurate. And yes instant on is the equivalent.

Have not played a COD campaign in ages, played a bit of blops 3 but it was shit. Got modern warfare cheap off ebay and fucking its a nightmare to even play the campaign. Huge fuck off update for warzone shit and have to install everything off the disc include MP downloads then it takes you to the campaign download screen to download another 11 gig and sign up for cuntvision account. Fuck you bobby kotick

If people care about achievements? Hades won't unlock any at the moment if you use auto resume.

I currently have a Series X in my living room and my GF has a One X in the bedroom. Do we sell the One X and get a Series S? The TV in the bedroom is 1080p, so resolution isn't an issue. Storage for the Series S is only half the size, but it is SSD and the difference in loading times tends to be insanely good.
I'm just wondering if there are any draw backs. We don't use the One X as a 4K machine, so generally performance is pretty good. Would it be better than the Series S as a 1080p machine?
Ray tracing isn't a big deal for me (yet).

I probably would for the QoL improvements that the SS would bring. It might also be worth upgrading while the X1X still has some value? And the Series S is a fantastic looking console!

If you want to continue playing the same games, especially together, I would switch. BF2042, for example, is 128 player on current gen and 64 players on last gen. Distinctions will start to become more commonplace as MS remove the restrictions for making everything work everywhere.
In terms of performance, the Series S is still an upgrade if you aren't fussed about 4K, so go for it.

Thirded.
At 1080p the Series S is absolutely an upgrade over a One X, absolute no brainer in my opinion. Even at 4K I'd make the jump to be honest.

Almost got a Series X from the MS Store there now. It was in stock, I clicked buy, it went into my basket where I was then told it was out of stock... What a cock-tease

How is that a cock tease? What are you planning to do to your series X?
