They seem to be hyping up Year 2 a lot, anything less than multiple new levels I think is gonna go down as a disappointment. The initial teaser seems to suggest 47 is gonna have a safehouse which I'm sure they'll put some detail into. A nice little showcase of all the weapons, gadgets etc you've unlocked so far, a practice range maybe. Wouldn't surprise me if it was based in Denmark.
I liked Dartmoor but never got back to replaying it for the detective mission after the first attempt, should really give it another go and see if there's another outcome. I almost wish they made the detective side more involved but it was a fun little showcase. Berlin is perhaps one of my favourite levels, I love the shift in dynamic of being the hunted and it's set in a great location. Straight out of any spy movie. Each of the levels in Hitman 3 have something intriguing about them, so I'm real curious to see if Year 2 has got any more in addition to these new storylines and 'new ways to play'.
Will be cool to see a full VR mode in it too, here's one of the devs showing the possibility of how dumb it can be.

I’ve been on the Berlin level for 2 hours, just totally absorbed and enjoying it. Absolutely brilliant.
After trying Hitman 1 and 2 demos, bouncing off quickly, I’m so pleased to be really getting into 3. Maybe because I bought it, I dunno, but it’s so fucking good. Love that feeling when you finally get into something that you knew could be great.
Oh and yeah I finished the Dartmoor one being a detective, perfected that story mission too.

I'm guessing they are actually updating the VR mode from the PSVR version with all the hand and head tracking PC VR can do. Was worried it would just be a direct port of the PSVR version. Have been meaning to get the old Vive headset running again and looks like this will be a good excuse to do that.

So the reveal happened. The safehouse is tied to a new roguelike game mode called Freelancer which randomised elements of the existing maps into campaigns, which you can acquire money to build out your arsenal. Elusive Target Arcade is essentially a playlist of elusive targets you have to beat do that you can get exclusive rewards. Fail one and you just wait for the next day to do again. Plus VR and Ray tracing. And a new map! All in the video below. youtu.be/otBhG8ZldvQ

Not watched the trailer yet, but all sounds pretty good, with VR being the most exciting for me personally.
Will all this be free to owners?

Yeah everything they mentioned that's coming between now and Spring is free. The actual new map I suspect you have to pay for considering that there's precedent for it with the Hitman 2 DLC. But considering how many hours I've played, I'm more than fine to pay.

Another vote here for the Berlin stage, absolute magic. It was blind luck at times, and it really forces you to learn every corner. I'm gonna do another trilogy run-through soon, done them all silent assassin, but never with the suit. That'll be mental hard.

So if you own all three games through the same service/platform, you can just play everything directly through Hitman 3, right?

Correct. And the file size is much smaller than installing them individually.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the file size for all of them is actually smaller than the file size for just 1 and 2. I recall it was quite a bit over 100gb for just the first couple of games, whereas when you install the old levels through 3 it is only something like 80-90gb.
You also get the engine upgrades that the new game brings with it, as well as the odd extra gameplay feature or two (3 didn't add much, but I recall 2 adding a few bits to the 1st game's levels such as bushes to sneak in).

I had them all installed at one point. Took me about 38 hours to transfer everything between the different versions and stuff. Then I realised how dull I find the Hitman games and played it for about 3 hours.

I never realised how much sense Hitman as a roguelike makes until now. That could actually be pretty brilliant if done right.

So if you own all three games through the same service/platform, you can just play everything directly through Hitman 3, right? You need to have access which comes from the version of the game you bought or paying a small fee. Unless it's changed over the last year?

I dunno, I just took my time, got immersed and really enjoyed Dartmoor and Berlin. In China now and just spending ages to do it properly. The bit where you go from a back alley street into a high-tech data centre was cool as fuck. H3 has greater use of simplicity and cleaner levels, I feel. Loving it.

I see the leaderboard for the latest event has the level being completed in 7 seconds. That can't be legit, right?

Would need to check but maybe? I've seen speedruns of finishing Dubai in 17 seconds.

The Dubai one is a stupendous long distance shot, if it's what I'm thinking of. It's legit, but one in a million (ish).

I hadn't played Hitman in many years, but tried the H3 starter pack over Christmas, while Holiday Hoarders was free, and saw the light! This game is special.
I ended up buying the H1/2 Gold expansions as well as H3 standard (all on sale) and have been enjoying playing through the campaigns in order. Currently finishing up on Miami, which is mind-blowing, really. I've also attempted a couple of elusive targets on the H3 levels, just to get a sneak preview of those before reaching them in the campaign.
There is so much game here, that this may last me most of the year! I'm impressed!

Seems like the launch on Steam has come about with some issues. Game being more expensive than predicted, issues with transferring progress etc. Not to mention the problems reported from the Elusive Arcade (can't get unlocks on old elusive for example) and the VR not living up to expectations as well as being quite buggy. Here's hoping they will improve on it over the year.

Currently part way through mission three. LOVED the first two missions and so far the third as well. Accidentally smashed the second mission first time, uncovered so much intel and managed to perfectly nail one of the main assassinations first attempt. Visually it is amazing as well on series X, really stunning.

Shoot, I was blown away just by the fancy Dubai hotel, with all the shiny golden accents and the sense of being up high on a skyscraper.

Trying to mop up some challenges on the earlier maps from Hitman 1 and 2 has made me realise Isle of Sgail is a great map that's ruined by awful challenges. Even Colorado had more interesting challenges than this one.

True, I remember taking a while to get full mastery in Sgail, even though the map is cool. Think I even had to rely on escalations to bump it up cause I was not prepared to collect 30 coins or whatever.

Even Colorado had more interesting challenges than this one. Careful now! PES will re-register just to remind us all that Colorado was dog-shit. I hate to be Mr Fence Sitter, but I think all the maps had their strengths. I quite enjoyed aspects of Colorado even though you were forced to do that stupid face recognition thing. Marrakesh probably my least favourite.
