OK. Bloodtinge is out then if it's harder at the start. I used a threaded cane on my first ever character. It was very good but I noticed it started to wane a bit around the lecture theatre areas (second visit) However, I am quite a dex whore in general so I don't mind doing a skill run. I'm sure I'll be fine once I get going - I just want to get it right at the start. If I could remember where everything is and how long it takes to get stuff, that would probably help but its been too long. If you abandon blood then a balance of skill and strength at 25 is perfect for those two best weapons. Ludwigs holy blade you can get early, straight after you beat blood starved beast. Epic epic weapon. |

Its long sword weapon is fast and has a great move set and decent stagger. It’s great sword version has an insane high damage and long reaching r2 poke and a flattening overhand smash with l2.

Saw Cleaver Kirkhammer combo never wanes quadfather, games an absolute doddle if you just max those out
LHB is excellent too but you get the other two right at the start
Cleaver for bonus damage vs beasts, Kirkhammer for bonus damage against the church in sword mode - it’s the ideal weapon set

Don’t listen to these people recommending the early weapons. Haha. The advice is good but they aren’t the most fun weapons . I’ve just loaded another character the is at the end of ng so I’m just farming to level up arcane some more before ng+. Anyone know any really quick farming spots? |

I think I’ve found my spot. The piggies before the wet nurse.
These early characters of mine were so badly levelled for what I was doing but they are at the right place to start ng+ runs with all the good weapons.
Also my heals and bullets are so low. On newer runs I have about 200 of each. This character I have 30 heals and 6 bullets.

I've reloaded my char again and noticed I can get the kirkhammer now, so I have. That might be good, upgraded. Meanwhile, it's me and Mr Gascoigne Kirk is good but it’s not top tier. If you think you’ll go ng+ it’s all about the moonlight blade. You want 25 in strength skill and arcane. Then depending on your preference you want 50 in strength or arcane. The standard version is an epic claymore which is good for 50 strength or the Second form is the arcade great sword with crazy damage arcane projectile slashes. The strength version is probably the easier version but the arcane build allows you to used the beast claw, execution gauntlets etc etc. It’s also the coolest looking weapon in the game in both forms. Especially versus the Kirk and Ludwig blade. Standard form is epic claymore slung over the shoulder with blood wraps on it and then it transforms into the legendary glowing moonlight blade. It’s a win win |

It's a Dark Souls weapon. You're playing, BB. Come on. It's probably the most boring weapon in the game- a big sword Transform the Kirkhammer during an attack and enjoy the animation- it's nice Just use whatever weapon you think is cool and fun. Unless you're playing PvP, min maxing is pointless Pretty sure the de facto best weapon in the game is the saw or spear anyway
Doesn't the Moonlight Greatsword's ranged attack use 2 bullets each time? Have fun with that

You just get the pigs and shadows to fight each other and picks up the spoils |

Kirkhammer will do 420+ attack on a 125 build with 50 strength
Holy Moonlight Sword will do 470+ attack on a 125 build with 50 arcane
However all the Kirkhammer damage is all physical meaning it’s good against all and especially good vs church. Half the HMS damage is arcane so ineffective if an enemy is resistant to it
Also Kirkhammer can be buffed with arcane, fire, bolt etc and the HMS cannot
In summary, don’t dismiss the early weapons, they are very good
The best advice is - pick the weapon you like using the most as you’ll enjoy the game more that way. I just liked the cleaver and the Kirk immediately and they never felt underpowered, as a result I only fought one boss more than twice on my first play through- the shadows, who took 3 attempts

So, bearing that in mind, since I've just levelled strength to 16, I can use the kirkhammer. I'll see how I feel with it. If it's OK, then cool. If not, I've also got 13 skill so it's not miles away to level if I find something.
I do like the idea of that glitch farming run, as it'll help me level quicker to check out other stuff earlier, which is exactly what I want to do.
Trouble is, I need to do blood starved beast for that and I don't even know where that *is*, never mind can I beat it!
