It's like Assassin's Creed if Assassin's Creed didn't have shit gameplay.

Did I read the DF article right and it’s a *checkerboard* 4K? That seems strange given it’s a native PS5 build now. It’s a last gen game, surely fully native 4K without checkerboarding is a no brainier? What am I missing?

The side quests up to where I played (end of the first area) seemed better than your usual open world collectathon. A bit more personal rather than throwaway shit. Don’t know if this changes further in.

It's definitely no Spiderman Remastered kind of job.

Oh. Wow. They couldn't be arsed to get full 4K running, but they wanna charge for the "upgrade"? That seems like a poor show.

All sounds very disappointing really. Having only played 4 hours or so of the original I've been holding off playing it recently for the best experience possible on PS5, and it sounds like it was mostly pointless.

Skillup reckons the haptics and adaptive triggers were good. The haptics especially when riding a horse.

You can feel the cats purring through the Dual Sense. That's worth the upgrade cost to me.

Well I'm coming from the OG ps4 and I parked it to play it in a higher resolution and 60fps. The bog standard back compatibility mode gives me that so I'm good. I don't really need the haptics or 3d audio.

It’s approximately 3 million times better than an AC game.

And the expansion is 100 times shorter clocking in at 3-5 hours. 10 if you are a completionist and do all the map stuff.

I've been keen on this for a while, not seen spoilers and not even reading this thread etc (except the posts immediately above). Is it worth waiting til I get a PS5 to play it at this point?

Well it arrived this afternoon. Installed and updated but then had to leave it at the starting point of Act 1. It's a fine looking game and plays extremely well so far.
Early days but I like the combat already and can see me using photmode a fair bit.

I'd pre-ordered the bonus content but it seems like you have to manually download it, just in case anyone wanted to have it ready for after work or whatever.
I'm not going to bother with the PS5 update. It's only £9 but it's not about the money, it's about sending a message.

I think this was 55 quid on the original PSN release, with the PS5 & dlc upgrade we are talking 80quid total. Bit of a shafting but at least it's a premium product.
I'm in no rush to replay it, if ever. So I'll hold out for a sale, I'm more interested in the Death Stranding DC where the cost is only a tenner I believe.

For the PS5 version the haptics are legitimately great. The sensation the sword makes is just absolutely spot on.

This makes a great game better. It looks insane, it feels fantastic, the combat is still best in class by a country mile. But bloody hell, the PS5 gets so hot, you basically can‘t touch the vents at the back.

Doesn’t seem so bad on mine. Might be worth opening it up and giving it a dust?

Got the upgrade due to having some psn credit from my birthday. The haptics are a nice addition and the resolution boost is noticeable, definitely crisper. I tried the new lock on function but forgot about it pretty quick as I never struggled with the default before. At a nice spot in my hard mode save, midway through act 2. I've done the first iki mission so I can go to the island but did give a warning about difficulty. Will head there after a couple more upgrades.

I finished this on PS4 but feel like starting afresh with a new game. I take it you have to be a particular level for the expansion then?

I've only worked out today that the flute changes the weather dependent on the song you play. Now I can make it rain on them before i end their suffering.
