Just fired up the PS5 to have a go on the peasant version of GoT and it mentioned a patch was installed whilst I was in standby mode. Great, I prefer that. It then immediately downloaded another patch which only took a few seconds but has been sat copying now for 17 minutes and only up to 61%
I know it's legacy mode so stuck with PS4 routines but Jesus Christ. I know I can launch the game and let it do its thing after but I'm a stickler for having latest patch if I know it's there. 30 minutes to apply a 100mb patch is still abysmal.

LFace it's taking a while to copy the same patch on the PS5 edition. This update addresses an issue where players were unable to arrive on Iki Island wearing the Sakai Armor and were unable to progress.

I've only worked out today that the flute changes the weather dependent on the song you play. Now I can make it rain on them before i end their suffering. The weather is also kind of controlled by the way you act. The more ghost stuff you do the stormier it gets, so I had to play a lot of flute to balance things out!

Finished the dlc this morning, really enjoyed it and the changes to the enemies were pretty good. The panic to try and get the shaman killed was always good. I was very underlevelled for it though as I had only completed act 1 due to losing my GOT save when moving to the ps5 which means I was missing a lot of skills. My advice would be to finish the main game before starting the dlc.
Good stuff though, well worth paying if you haven't already.

Bought the directors/PS5 upgrade because of course I did.
Stupid PS4 save system- chose to bring my latest over and then “continue” just starts a new game, imported some older ones, panicking slightly, and same- back to the original long opening. You have to import the save and then chose it from the Load menu, stupid.
Not bowled over by any of the PS5 stuff, barely looks any different. And the load times are fucking worse for little things like loading armour in the menu, calling up some cut scenes etc 😡

Fast travel is almost instant though which is great. The resolution increase is noticeable as well and the haptic feedback on the pad is really nice.

Yeeeeaaaahhhh, I probably need to play it more but I’d go for resolution - nice but looked great anyway, haptics so so and some load times better, some worse is shite. Why were we sold these ultra fast drives only for some aspects of PS5 games to be slower? Definitely really cheeky to charge for it.

There has been a few patches but I didn't notice if the armour changing is fixed as I only changed mine once. I was using the set that disables parry but makes perfect parry better but it made one of the bosses a bit tricky due to their really fast slashes.

The vibration on the PS5 version is amazing. It really nails the galloping feel when riding Sora over rocky terrain or wooden bridges.
For whatever reason i never synced my save from the PS4 version, so i had to start from the beginning and it will probably be a week or so before i get to start the DLC... but it's so worth it.
I like how the game seems to have used photo mode to set up the screens with the mission title. The direction in general in the game is really good.

mothercruncher Patch 2.08 for #GhostOfTsushima Director’s Cut is now live. This patch improves the load time for viewing cosmetics in menus on PS5, restores color button prompts, plus various Legends adjustments and additional bug fixes.

I just finished the expansion, and also picked up the platinum for the base game, as I realised I was only three trophies away which only took about ten minutes as I had the vanity gear needed, and all the fast travel locations unlocked.
It's not going to be near my top 10, but I really, really loved it. Looking forward to whatever they do next.

I'm loving it right now. I didn't click with it on the original PS4 release for some reason, but now I nearly can't stop playing it. The combat never stales, even x or so hours in, and that's usually the thing I start disliking most several hours into these open world AssCreed style games.

5 or 6 hours into this after picking up the ps5 version and it all seems a bit samey gameplay wise - should I persevere a bit longer with it or should it have clicked by now?

That was my issue with tbh. It doesn’t really change up at all as you progress and the world, whilst gorgeous, is a bit barren and devoid of anything to do or discover.

It could do with some QoL stuff for the sequel for sure. Not making the fog of war so egregious, for one thing, especially as you’re playing someone who’s supposed to have lived on the island all their life, even with fully pimped out traveller’s attire it’s a pain to have to just trot around the blank areas trying to find something. At first I thought the lighthouses would be like eagle points etc in AssCreed and fill in a big chunk of the visible map, but nope. Also the ability to skip dialog lines would be nice to those of us who can read faster than speech and don’t want to sit through another thirty seconds of a peasant explaining how grateful he is.

The enemy camps remove a big chunk of the fog at a time but yeah, still a pain.

5 or 6 hours into this after picking up the ps5 version and it all seems a bit samey gameplay wise - should I persevere a bit longer with it or should it have clicked by now? It does open up a fair bit once you unlock a load more stances and abilities but if it's not clicking by now I suspect it won't so you may not feel it worth continuing.

Yeah, you're either gripped from the start or will bounce. Same with most open world games really.
The setting and the cinematography got me through this. Plus I love samurai.

It’s at least worth sticking until you get the longbow and then start firing off exploding arrows into big crowds like some demented Rambo clone

I wasn't as in love with this at some for the first dozen hours, but I went on the Platinum it. The combat is the one thing they absolutely nailed, head and shoulders above the rest of the open world crowd. Not perfect, but super satisfying.
I think I'd echo the suggestions to stick with it - there will come a moment where it absolutely grabs you. There's a particular mission in the second act that is just the mutts nutts.

I've got back on this today on the PS5 after parking it on the PS4 because I wanted to wait until I got a PS5. Forgot how pretty this game is especially coming from a peasant PS4. Even though it's an open world game I haven't felt bored by it and I'm well into Act 2. Not going to upgrade to the PS5 version as I don't think the upgrade is substantial enough.

I love this game. All of it, it's brilliant.
Text skipping would be welcome though, like Gremmi said

Yeah I'm surprised you can't skip cutscenes or dialogue. Guess it's part of the 'vision'

I don't mind unskippable cutscenes the first time you see them, it's when you die and they make you watch it again that I get pissed off.
I don't get people that play story based games and skip the cutscenes.

I wouldn’t skip any story scenes, it’s more the open world identikit quests that could use a skip option. Even though they’re a good way to farm resources I pretty much avoid the “captured peasant” stuff as the dialog takes longer than the frigging fight. It’s a pretty minor complaint though, not a big deal, just a QoS tweak.

Oh I didn't even necessarily mean with this game, it was more an observation towards tighter story based experiences where they do.
I agree there is some absolute fluff in this like when it forces you to watch him stood with the horse after a mission.
