R.A.M.B.O. album is out. It's decent. The songs themselves are all fine to good, but maybe not enough variation to really justify the 30 minutes run time. Good messages throughout though and it's pretty fun.

These are great, plus another two songs released via streaming services. Can´t wait for the full album, one of the best songs has only been played on Fatties podcast.

New song from Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, blessedly free of "just some bloke they know" guest stars this time as well:

Stumbled aross these on bandcamp. Really enjoying it, scuzzy lofi punk with a bit of dungeon synth. They're playing near me in May so bought a ticket to the gig.

Don't really listen to Rancid much these days tbh but when it comes up when I shuffle my music it's still pretty fun.

Also been listening to Zulu - A New Tomorrow.
Not sure if I'd call it punk exactly but the roots are in hardcore. The album has so frequently contrasts the harsh hardcore and powerviolence passages with more delicate tracks and samples that draw upon the bands black heritage, which leads to some amazing contrasts. It also frequently has this doomy sound that actually reminds me of something like Conan.
It's hard to pick a single track from the album because the contrasts and transitions are pretty key, but this track was pretty good.

Only two UK shows on NOFX's last ever tour. I kinda want to go, even thought it's £66 a ticket and I've seen them more times than I can count.

It's great to see people of colour more active in the hardcore scene. Back in late 90s/early 2000s when I was active in "the scene" putting in show, doing a zine etc it always struck me that for a movement so political it was very much nearly exclusively white straight males. So yeah, great to see bands like Zulu, End It and Jesus Piece doing so well.

Somehow The Damned are still going. There was a time when they were my favourite band, and I still love them a lot - Machine Gun Etiqutte is probably in my top 10 albums of all time, and Strawberries is in the top 20. But they've not done any really good music for a few decades - I actually think Grave Disorder was pretty good. New track isn't exciting really, but it's pretty enjoyable and smooth. Should punk be smooth? idk. To be fair though, this is the only sensible approach aging rockers can take, no point trying to be as intense as they were, so it's good to see them aging gracefully. And Vanian and Sensible have avoided the trap of becoming alt-rightish knobheads ranting at the weather (as far as I know, anyway).
Sensible really does look like Paul O'Grady these days.

drhickman1983 MGE is a good record. I'm not sure if I can choose between it and their first, though. And then, I really like the Black Album, too.

dogbotBlack Album is also amazing. I do like their first album a lot, and it's a classic, but I like MGE to Strawberries more, as those albums had a good mix of punk effort exploring Captain Sensible's kind of psychadelia and Dave Vanian's kind of goth tones. Arguably after Strawberries it went downhill a bit. (I say "kind of goth", there's a good argument that Vanian was one of the first modern goths in music, and his appearance and vocal delivery was probably instrumental in the entire scene...)
