But that would mean we finish 3rd still if Vitesse beat Mura though right?

I guess we are a bit unfortunate not to go through on 10 points (should we win). But we don’t really deserve to as we’ve been so poor.

I really don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world for Spurs to get knocked out.
It’s good to give the second string a run out in the group stages but does Kane really need the extra games going forward? I think a lot of the England squad have looked out of sorts this season and it’s got to be down (at least partly) to fatigue.

I didn’t even know the Europa Conference League was a thing until I saw the Spurs headline on bbc sport
How long have we had it? Just this season?

Much the same reason why I wasn't devastated to not qualify. But once in it, I'd want to win it.

Madness to have another European comp when all the excitement has gone from European football due to over exposure already
Another shitty cash grab

That's very much an English thing though, the EL is taken much more seriously in Europe.

Do you not drop into the Scottish Premier League or something if you fail in the cash grab conference ?

Agreed. Stop that and it might be a proper competition again

Spurs pretty awful. Might be a second string, but all players bought by previous managers. Some for big money.

We are terrible but we have the right people in place to address that. This season may be effectively over but plenty to look forward to, especially with Levy saying he’s ready to invest now.
Regarding the ECL, it is an absolute nightmare of a competition. Every single team you play, it’s the biggest game in the history of their club, and they play accordingly. It’s banana skin after banana skin, and you can’t win, because best case scenario you beat a team everyone expects you to beat and there’s no prestige or value in it. It’s not like the Europa League where there is some level of ‘second tier’ parity to many of the teams, and there’s a bit of prestige in winning it (plus a CL place). It really is a poisoned chalice. Horrible to be in.

Agreed. Stop that and it might be a proper competition again But then how would all the bigger rich teams maintain their stranglehold? I really hate all this parachuting in from other tournaments malarkey. ECL is the same with teams papped out of the Europa league dropping in, it's bollocks, knockout competitions should not have a bonus round if you finish third in a group. Surely, if you've qualified for a competition, you're in a until knocked out, not moved to another because you couldn't cut it there.

I wouldn't say this season is over. There is still Eurpoean places up for grabs, League Cup and FA to come. If we can get our act together we could still have a decent season.
I guess the problem is that Conte doesn't get a lot of training time with his players between matches. Maybe being out of the ECL is a blessing on that front.

The season is over because we’re really quite bad, and getting ‘our act together’ a) won’t happen and b) won’t be enough. Conte is a fix but not a quick one.

Because the European Cup was only for league winners and the Cup Winners was (funnily enough) cup winners, so the UEFA was made up of top teams. It wasn’t anything like the ECL.

I’m all for positivity and obviously I hope for more, but I think our fan base needs a bit of a reality check on where we are right now. There is a lot of work to be done. I think our current situation is comparable with when Klopp joined Liverpool, and is with him I really wouldn’t expect any meaningful progress until his second season.
