Yeah, I’m happy, a couple of bugs- opening the traction control, etc menu kills the throttle being the biggest- but it looked and ran great.
I’d love to know what the fuck the new graphics options do. Do I want 33% sharpness or 189%?

Grid Legends seems to work fine with my set up, Wheel and gearstick on 1 usb, pedals on another usb and seperate handbrake on another usb, also full 5850x1080 resolution but only in borderless full screen once I updated my nvidia drivers. After Dirt 5 and the buyout I had my doubts EA would bother anymore with niche set ups.
New Grid seems fun but simple, needs more of a Command and Conquer cheesy style FMV, not just shit.

Just tried the 10 hour demo thing for Grid. Don't think I've ever played such a dull and uninvolving handling model. Even with all of the assists set to zero the cars feel so boring and empty to drive. Like Dirt 5 levels of shit.
Not holding out much hope for Dirt Rally 3 the way Codemasters are going now.

It’s Grid, it’s always soulless in handling on a wheel.

I haven't tried it with the wheel, it's shit enough with the pad.

mothercruncher you playing with a pad on ACC? I've got my wheel setup and mostly happy with it. No idea why the original rotation lock was just 40 it's now at 900 and apparently from what I've read it's 1:1 with the in game wheel no matter what car you use. I've done the special event and ranked about 187th and 7 seconds away from the fastest lap. I might wait for the 1.8 update that's meant to change a few things before I start doing championships ect and it does appear to have the odd bug as it stands.

Yep. I sold my wheel a while ago as I couldn’t be faffed with storing/setting up each time.

My absolute favourite thing on iracing is next week, Nordschleife in the skippys with 3 lap races. The first 2 things I bought after deciding to keep the service on and drove alone in VR for a month or 2. I bought the Skippy for this. Can confirm it's a fun combo. The final 1/3 of the lap is so good, although that's true with any car. When it comes to actual wheel to wheel racing, slow cars > fast cars.

I've always found that realistic FOV is key. More immersive and easier to be consistent.

Pretty handy. ACC always seems very tight to me.

Didn't work for me. 43" screen sat 2 meters away and the FOV was down to around 16. That didn't look right at all.

They are meant for triple screen set ups or a wheel attached to a desk with a monitor on it.

Just tried ACC with the T300 for the first time. Very, very impressed. Was expecting the usual rigmarole of spending 2 hours trying to get the settings ‘right’, but felt connected to the road with default settings.
Excited for GT7, but it will have to go some to match the feel of this.

Just tried the Radical SR8 at the Ring. Holy smokes!
Might just be because I've been driving lower-speed cars of late (USF & Skippy) but it was like engaging warp drive. Probably the most exhilarating car and track combo I've found so far. Think I'm in love.

Heh, Radi is a buttock clencher for sure. Last week's Skippy Nurby outing went ok for me, even got to 4.99 SR briefly before I met some nutters. Might be tempted to run the Radi at the Green Hell, now I know roughly where I am going, what could go wrong

Just did my first actual radical race. Very good fun and surprisingly, I didn't find it that hard to protect my SR with less than perfect driving.
I kept it fairly clean (only 1 off track) and was going well until a careless spin into the barriers just before the end of the 4th lap earned me a meatball flag. Had 15mins of mandatory repairs so that was basically my race over in the pits.
Somehow that was still good enough for 9th out of about 20! Kind of ridiculous. I only completed 80% of the distance and picked up 3 incident points yet still increased my SR and irating slightly. Looking through the split results it does seem fairly typical.
Need to decide if I actually want a B license this week. I've easily got the SR but need 3 more qualifying races. Is there any down side to promotion? I don't intend to run any B series next season so don't need the B as such.

Pretty good Schedule, love me some Oran park, and one I avoided till this season, Belle Isle.
I am a B licence which covers all the cars I want to drive.
A fair few top split Skippy drivers actually only have D licenses because ALL they drive is Skips, they cannot be demoted to rookie so offtracks are used liberally to get faster entries and exits, very shady if you ask me.
Love my F1 but not interested in getting an A licence to drive the merc, all the nutters that drive F3 drive F1, but even worse.
Radical is a handful first few laps, even more than most cars. Added to that, it seems to be a delicate little flower, it will meatball you in a heartbeat. Great fun though. Kinda like F3, if you have even a little bit of common sense and car control you can get relatively easy top 10's while everyone else wrecks.
I run 1 F3 fixed and 1 Ferrari fixed a week for the $4 credit on a sunday driver pace and usually finish just outside the top 10, and thats 2K plus splits.
Pays for a track at the end of the year and regulates my IR so I am not in the top top splits for cars I don't drive much where I WILL finish last.

Sort of true in my case. The original GT was definitely a waypoint but the journey started a fair few years before.
Pitstop II on the C64 (in fairness this was all my Dad, but it was the first racing game I played at length as it was 2 player split screen) Super Monaco GP, Virtua Racing and the Domark F1 game on Megadrive F1 and then TOCA Touring Cars on PS1 (TOCA triggered the first racing wheel purchase - awful center sprung thing that just made it harder). Gran Turismo (bought the analogue PS1 pad) TOCA 2 & GPL on PC (all hope was lost - bought 3 progressively better wheels just for GPL alone).

My original drug of choice was Revs and then obsessed over Geoff Crammonds F1 game.
I was in nivarna when Grand Prix legends was released and that was where the hardware thing really kicked off.
When you get to iRacing you may as well just publish your credit card number on the internet

First wheel was for the Xbox 360, Forza 2 had a package deal or something. Ended up playing the F1 games most doing coop seasons with my brother when he moved away for a while, before that I was happy playing the Sega arcade racers or console racers and did try GTR on pc but was shit with a game pad.
Even with iracing on I still like to have a blast in Wreckfest/something less serious, or even get Outrun 2 running again on the 360 every few months.

It's great GT7 has so much publicity and hopefully, it hooks a decent percentage into long term sim racing, as more customers mean more investment. It really feels like Iracing in particular needs a competitor but at the moment there just isn't the player base to support two big online sims.
I've tried many times, but I can no longer get properly invested in 'simcade' racers. I need to feel like I'm driving a car and have an element of fair competition to keep playing. I just lose immediate interest if the AI has obvious rubber banding or physics advantages, or if being competitive online requires the use of assists and unrealistic exploits.
If GT7 is fundamentally based around physics that reward real-world driving techniques I'm tempted to give it a go. I've certainly got the required nostalgia for the license tests and building out my virtual garage.

Managed to win at the ring this evening. Car number 20, but I was evidently one of the few who bothered to qualify and started p2.
Dropped to fourth at the start and on pure pace I'd have finished there, but one by one the three ahead all made mistakes. I was gripping the wheel so hard I was started to get pins and needles, but I hung on.
One more race to get my B license.

Waiting for iracing to go offline for the patch, I want to try that Honda Civic Touring Car and see if its better than my Audi that I hate driving. Might be a fun class with 3 new cars lately and the more serious people trying IMSA with the GT4 class included with TC's in that championship.
Edit: Tried all 3 cars except the new one this week, liked the Honda and Hyundai more than my Audi, fastest time in the Honda, liked it but just seen a Formula 4 car may appear this week so not buying anything yet.

I will keep my eye on the iR-04, all for more open wheels, but might go the way Dallara iR-01 that died a death.
EDIT
Who am I kidding, I bought it.
