I’m guessing we won’t see anything that’s pushing the Pro until some new releases are out, probably first party ones.
I’ve played Last of Us remaster and that looks impressive but I’ve only played the Pro version though.

The Lego Horizon game got 7/10 at IGN and GameSpot.

EG did NOT like it. Some of the dialogue made me cringe when I read it from some screenshots.
The screenshot of Sylens who in this game is into DJing says:
"Sick beats huh? I found some amazing records in the ruins, along with this sweet old world tech."
It honestly comes across as How Do You Do, Fellow Kids the Game.

For me, the main enjoyment from the Lego games comes from established universes with mainstream audiences (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Marvel superheroes etc) where the existing material offers plenty of opportunities for iconic scenes retold and inside jokes, along with the chance to introduce these universes to your kids. I don't think the Horizon games were prime candidates for something like that.

Argos knocking £40 off the Pro for those interested. Hesitant to call it a "deal" exactly, but better than a kick up the arse. Clicky!

The Lego Horizon game got 7/10 at IGN and GameSpot. I think I'd enjoy playing it, but I'm happy to wait for a price drop, and in that wait I'll probably completely forget about it...!

Pretty much same for me, mine is on 24th, not sure what I am going to do I have the £100 a year version and I have about 35 games on my HD (of those 90% are hardly played or completed) that I will lose access to if I do not re-sub and as I found out before on my ps4 if you let the sub lapse you lose your saved progress as well. £8 odd a month is feck all of course but I so rarely play the pS5...as my 8 hours playtime of SH2 will attest to, and I love SH. I'm sure I will re-sub

ShopTo have 15% off PSN credit at the moment. PS store usually does 30% of PS Plus 12 months for Black Friday, also on upgrades to the higher tiers. That bought with PSN credit from ShopTo is the cheapest you'll do all year unfortunately, other than sometimes another PS store deal at New Year.

Someone mentioned on EG that Very have 20% off. The only thing I could see on the site was 20% off if you take their credit offer. Not sure if you can repay it straight away to avoid interest but they do have a pro bundle with disc drive so might be worth looking into.

I always get a better deal whilst I’m no longer a member of ps+. Mine runs out on the 24th. I’ll get cheaper codes from Shopto and then then the cheaper offer for resubscribing

Tried playing a couple more games and then initiated a return for mine, as the fan is just distractingly noisy and I shouldn't just be settling for this with something so bloody expensive. Wish I'd never sold my trusty old chunky boi now!
Egads, I've turned into ecosse! I feel a sudden urge to cook something beige for lunch.

That's not great to hear tbh but I guess that's always going to happen. Still though for 700 quid I wouldn't be expecting that.

Not being a dick or anything, but ime, lots of powerful modern electronics are kinda noisy, especially if it's got a fan. I bought a big, powerful new desktop last year and it was genuinely shocking at first how noisy it is, for example. It's still really noisy, I'm just used to it now.
Coil whine is definitely a thing, but I've never found it to be remotely as annoying as our oft-lamented friend did. I do find lots of cheapo electronics like USB chargers or wireless charging pads - the sort of thing that cost £6 on Amazon - often make a lot of noise (humming or pulsing) and then there's the sockets people use. I'm gradually changing all the ones in this house for decent ones, but most of the ones still left make some kind of noise whenever something is using them.
Don't get me started on fridge freezers. Life is noisy. I'm sorry the Pro was too noisy to use, though, that sucks.

In that situation though I do not blame you giving up on the system, it's not a great introduction to the Pro.

My original model ps5 seems noisy to me, and I always worry it’s a bad unit when others talk about how quiet it is.

Yeah, definitely agree that there's an expectation of some fan noise and coil whine on any modern bit of kit, but I just got so used to my silent model that this really grated with me. I realise I'm being very particular here, but fuck it, I didn't just pay £700 to upgrade some facets and downgrade others. Sony surprisingly seem to have a no questions return policy on hardware, it didn't even let me add any details on why I'm returning it.
Just nabbed another phat model for £300 on eBay, so I'll be £50 up when I sell the disc drive too. Knowing my luck I'll probably be back next week complaining about losing the fan lottery with that eBay purchase.

Yeah, my PS5 is very quiet mostly, whereas I've heard loads of people saying theirs is incredibly loud... but the PS4 I had before was like a power station under load. It seems to be very variable.

Mine (edit: non-pro ps5) is crazy quiet - esp. when compared to the ps4 it replaced which was so loud I never used it.
That and the speed of loading is probably 90% of the reason I like it so much.

I turned the PS4 on this week to initialise it before getting rid and was shocked by how slow it was. How quickly we forget.

That Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro patch doesn't sound amazing when when all taken into account.
