Worth checking GoW Ragnarok's dlc out. Valhalla, nice little rouge mode and looks great. (don't think I've any noise from my pro, apart from the on beep)

Tried playing a couple more games and then initiated a return for mine, as the fan is just distractingly noisy and I shouldn't just be settling for this with something so bloody expensive. Wish I'd never sold my trusty old chunky boi now! Egads, I've turned into ecosse! I feel a sudden urge to cook something beige for lunch. I don't think I've ever tried returning something because I just didn't like it, without it being faulty
Do you just make up a reason or is it just a normal thing people do?
Always assumed that once I'd opened/used something, if it's not broke, it's mine now
What will Sony/Amazon/whoever do with your basically new but used console?

It'll be sold be those stores as B grade/refurbished. If it's Sony direct, maybe they might repackage to sell as new but shops wouldn't bother.

I think the warehouse Victrix BFG pad I bought was just that. It was like someone opened the the box, decided they didn’t like the look of it and sent it back. If it had ever been used, I couldn’t tell

Oh, it’s a really good pad, btw. Because it doesn’t have rumble or haptics, the battery lasts for aaaaaaages, if that matters to you at all. Not worth the asking price but if you can find it under a hundred it’s worth a punt.

Got a lovely new PS5 Pro. It's a noticable upgrade particularly as I have a new Samsung OLED.
However the fan is annoyingly loud in that I can hear it with headphones on. Louder than my old PS5. Need to upgrade to noise cancelling ones now.
I've a feeling Sony will release a firmware upgrade to calm those fans as they are going 90 even on fairly basic games. Still inexcusable at this price point though.
Games run so silky smooth on it though....

Yeah, hopefully it is just duff fan curve settings that they tweak a bit, as it seemed go into noisy mode the second I launched any game without any noticeable difference between menus and gameplay.
Seem to be reports of certain types of fan being noisier too (IIRC it comes with either a Foxcon or Delta fan)

I’m concerned about the fan situation, bought my first Pro from Argos but the controller was playing up. There was a £40 price difference from when I bought it but they wouldn’t give me the £40 back on I got a refund
I’ve ordered from the EE store for £659 (bargain), hopefully the fan is as quiet as the one I had before.

I would like a PS5 Pro as let’s be honest PS6 is probably still 3+ years away but the lack of a disc drive (screw your price fixed digital future games industry!) and the relatively high price point and the extra investment I’d need to make in a new tv to make the most of it means it’s a hard nope from me sadly. PS5 games on performance mode for the next few years it shall continue to be for me. If my TV dies maybe that will trigger other decisions a few years down the line but hopefully a refresh for PS6 in 2028 will be the next shift change.
I’ll save the money for Switch 2 as choppy performance on the Switch has led me to hold back on commited games for the last few years on that and now that BC is confirmed hopefully a silky smooth Zelda/Metroid/Xenoblade et al future is where it’ll be!

I turned mine on for the first time in ages this weekend.
I don't think I'll be getting a pro.

Just seen the DF review for the ps5 pro patch for Jedi Survivor and errr it's not great. Definitely seems 3rd party has some teething issues here.

I do want one but the games I was looking forward to playing on it have had problematic patches.
Going to flog my series x and oled switch and keep the base ps5 for now, and see what happens in the near future.

I got the PS5 pro but only because of a number of reasons:
1: I sell my PS5 to my brother for a low fee (250 with a brand new controller discdrive version) and want to play games with him online. As his part-caretaker its easier for me to do this then always invite him into my home (not that I wont visit him after this). I recieved 300 from my parents in order to buy one as well.
2:I do have a disc drive
3: Some games look alot better. I do think PSSR has been disapointing and expect improvement.
4: I bought one with a 8% discount on mediamarkt. So it was 730 with a discount code.

Hopefully they can get them focussing on where the real action is and make a live service game.

They will remake it with sub 60 fps and bad frame pacing.

And they still won't remake Bloodborne My money’s on it being a PS6 launch title, doing the same job Demon’s did on the PS5. Of course, I’d still rather they made a whole new game in that universe instead.

Nobody excited about the PlayStation Portal getting an update to play a select 120 games initially from Sony's cloud servers then? You know, without needing a console connection.
I don't have one but this has piqued my interest, does say you need a premium account to be part of the test, and probably in the future as well I guess, $ony gonna $ony
PS
"Over 120 PS5 games from the PS Plus Game Catalog, including Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will be accessible on PS Portal via cloud streaming"

Yeah, that's pretty cool, and I also hadn't seen it. I'm really impressed by the Portal - I took it back to the UK in October and it played really well from my PS5 in Sweden. I'd still rather it was a dedicated handheld rather than streaming but it does actually do what it set out to.

I knew if I bought one it would end up in a cupboard like the PlayStation VR headset I never used and sold. Cloud play sounds good though, dependent on visuals, stability and whether they lock it behind a £100 pay wall.
