Fuck the reviews. I'm enjoying the hell out of this game and it scratches all my tactical, collecting, and deckbuilding itches. Clearly, this is a studio trying something way out of its comfort zone but I can't say they didn't accomplish their goals. While the dialogue is a bit too much, I do wonder how lifeless this game would feel without it.

The dialogue, yeah it would feel a bit empty without but fucking hell I am hitting the skip button v frequently and I generally never do that. The massive amount of it and sometimes the clunk. They do get it right with some of the lines and the voice actors though. I've smiled and enjoyed and gone oh fuck off in about equal measure.

Yeah, I never skip dialogue either but had to in this game just to keep my sanity.

I think everyone agrees the combat bit is pretty good but it's everything outside of it that most people disliked.

Yeah, combat was excellent. I don’t think anyone suggested the dialogue should be removed wholesale either, just made less awful and have the social bits be less tedious. At times it’s like there are two very different games with very different tones just rammed into each other.

While the dialogue is a bit too much, I do wonder how lifeless this game would feel without it. It needs more combat, a greater variety of enemies, less dialogue, and a bit less exploration. As I think I said further up, it’s a good game but the balance is off. I’ve actually finished the exploration and the collection bits. I’ve still got some story to go.

Anyone ever use the Training Dummies: Cure upgrade in battle? Can't seem to use one of my hero moves to activate it. Do I choose the hero that needs to be cured or another? Either way, I can't seem to do it using a controller.

Either way, I can't seem to do it using a controller. You need to select a hero to move, then move the cursor over the hero who needs to be cured (the cursor should be green at this point) and confirm. You can actually use it on the hero you are controlling if you don't want to move anyone around.

Yeah, that's how I thought it should work but everytime I do that it selects the Hero I am trying to cure instead. I'll wait for the cursor to turn green first and see if that does anything.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I need to click on the ground and not the character first to get the green targeting circle to show up.

I was going to play tonight, but it’s doing its thing again where it downloads a patch and then somehow has to reinstall the entire 50GB of game. Not download it, it’s finished that, but reinstall everything. I don’t know why it does this, but it’s beyond infuriating.

Finished it, shame we won't see any sequels.

Finished it, shame we won't see any sequels. Interested, how many hours? Am 12hrs in and certainly enjoying it enough to want to finish the main story but feel like I still have a long way to go.

I played it entirely on the Steam Deck and left it sitting a lot, 80 hours.

Its probably the weirdest game I've played. The combat is a 9/10 and the rest of it is barely a 3/10. I dont think I've ever played a game which I like and hate in equal measures. The characters are so lifeless and it feels like all of their conversations were written by a terrible ai.

That's how I feel too. Played about 15 hours on release week and haven't been back. I want to, but I can't bear all the bullshit in the mansion.

I figured out the likely reason for the abundance of BS filler dialogue. It's to sneak in chances to level up Hunter light and dark balance. They should've shrunk the scale of the whole system which would've lessened the need for so much dialogue. Also, it would make it easier to get the rewards for both polarities in one playthrough.

So I’m doing the thing I always do with FF games, and putting off starting the final mission. I’ve finished pretty much all of the Abbey stuff - I think I’m waiting to get the last few research rewards. Not sure why - they can’t make much of a difference now.
