I've just remembered where I left it. Remember that door you have to blow up to get past the barricade? That bit. I remember being stoned last night and trying to find a fucking save station!
It's definitely got better sound going on. Really good stuff

Are there constant monster noises in the background even when none are around? I mean lots of games do that, to keep the tension up I guess, but I hate it. Makes me feel like I can’t rely on what I’m hearing.

Are the drops and pickups RNG because I'm continually getting credits as opposed to actual ammo. I am pretty sure the game adjusts on the fly based on what you need.
I am playing on hard and I had a stint where I took no damage and didnt collect a health pack for ages. Then when I took damage, I collected 3 health packs in a row.
I dont know if this is the director thing working in the background? |

Had to take a break for today, as much as I love the game it can be very unrelenting and oppressive just like the original. Regardless the effort made in the creation of this game has been quite astounding I hope we get more Dead Space stuff either the whole trilogy or a new one. I'm hoping for a new entry, EA Motive have proven themselves.

Quite curious to see where they take it next, as I can't see them keeping this magic if they just stick to remaking 2 and 3 (although I would like to see 3 done properly)
I have no idea how 3 ended or if it's a terrible place to pick things up.
Bloody HUKD alert for my £50 biting point hasn't triggered yet.

They could make a proper prequel based on the events and characters in Dead Space: Extraction, rather than the light gun game they settled on.

I am quite interested to see if people recommend this over the original once the dust has settled. I would guess they're not going to remake 2 and 3 based on them having used the same voice actor. If they planned remakes, it wouldn't really have mattered if they replaced him
Has there ever actually been a whole series of games that got remade?

Pretty much this. I can't see myself bothering to return to the 2008 game anymore, there doesn't really seem to be much point.

You guys are making me want to give the original another go. Might as well stick to the 360 version too, since I remember the PC version being pretty bad, plus I'd get Auto HDR on Series S.

They've used the original source code and changed a few bits and upgraded graphics and sound. It's basically the same game but better. There will obviously be a few real ale drinkers and stuff who say it's ruined the aesthetic or whatever to make themselves feel like they've got a unique outlook on the world, but it's literally the same game but better. |

The atmosphere and better handling makes the remake a far superior game, there is no reason to go back and if it's your first one the new one is the one to play.

I can't think of a single reason to go back to the original, you're getting a complete overhauled version that improves pretty much every aspect of the OG.

OK another 4hr stint I have just finished, damn this game is good.
12hrs in and just started chapter 8. I forgot that the campaign had a decent length to it. I believe there are 12 chapters.
For the first time in Dead Space history I am actually using all the weapons now. Some of the secondary fire modes are so good, like the force gun (not spoiling it for those that haven't got it yet, but it's great for crowd control). Every single weapon just feels so good, including the flamethrower. And the contact beam, jeez that thing rips through the necros.
This may just be my fav horror game of all time. Motive have done a truly outstanding job here. |

I noticed that RE4 had gone up by £5 too when I checked yesterday. I pre-ordered for £54.99 and it’s now £59.99
Is that common? I hardly ever buy games at launch so found it surprising

So I noticed, if you put a gun in storage you no longer get ammo for that gun. If its in your inventory, whether equipped or not, you will get ammo for it.
I am sure the original did something similar. So if you put all your guns except the plasma cutter in storage, then I guess you only get plasma rounds. |
