Dead Space[Remake]

I have not played this game, although I think I played a demo of this during the original release?

I am quite tempted to dive in but I'm thinking of holding off for a £40 price. Might be one of the physical copies I buy then flog it.

Playing on PC, I had to reduce settings a decent amount on a 3080 but as it turns out the opening cutscene's a bit heavier than the game itself so I've brought things back up.

The HDR's excellent in this, in the same way it is in Elden Ring: it isn't so much the whole thing of it being super dark and then super bright (though the shadows are very well rendered on an OLED), more that there's a lot of misty, foggy volumetrics and with HDR there's no banding or dithering or anything, it's just perfectly smoothly graduated, moody lighting all the way through. Combined with the lack of faked bloom that you'd get on 360/PS3 it does that thing where it looks like how you remember a game looks, rather than how it actually did look, but at the same time it's very 'current gen'.

The stomp is also still absolutely perfect as a mechanic.

That sounds like the demons souls remake. Plays like the original but with many bells and whistles to add to the ambience.

The audio reworking of demons was incredibly gruesome.

So I've finally seen it been mentioned off the Analista Dr Bits YouTube channel that RT is only ambient occlusion on all platforms apart from series S which only has a 30fps mode. So no reflections or shadows.

Do you know what I love the most about this version? Every time you press the big square button to bring up your map, it makes a very quick noise.

That noise is in my mind, the first note of the Mexican cantina band in star wars.

Yeah in the options. Off by default but I’m considering it. My panicked blasting isn’t going too well. Either I’ve got worse at these games or these particular necros are faster and more resilient even on normal. Yes. I chose normal. Because I’m a coward.

Haha yep, I am exactly the same. I realised I was walking through the corridors at a snails pace as I had that uneasy feeling not sure of what to expect. I had played the original 4 or 5 times so believed this would be a walk in the park.

Are the drops and pickups RNG because I'm continually getting credits as opposed to actual ammo.

We can recommend curtains that are good for zoffling and light reduction.

I rarely get any plasma energy since picking up 3 different weapons. I routinely use the plasma cutter too after getting the burning mod on it.

Fair dos. That's a bit weird then. Unless it's something to do with your difficulty level, as I play it on easy as I want to get through it in my pace
