For the record I have no sympathy for France nor any desire to see them win the thing. Merely would have enjoyed tears from bastards like Martinez. He is going to boil some piss when he signs for Spurs. Not a hope in hell. Has a taste for winning things now.

To be clear (because I'm pretty sure I didn't make many friends tonight) I honestly wouldn't have minded if France had won this. Sure they barely played for most of the match, but when they saw their chance they fucking took it and the non-penalty goal especially was class. I would just be gutted for Messi missing out after coming so close, that's all. And for no/less Ronaldo tears

Any dislike of Argentina is surely more than mitigated by how miserable Ronaldo is right now. Think about the greater good. Think he might announce his retirement just to get some attention back to him. I don’t reckon he’ll sign anywhere again. I can’t see him doing a gig at LA Galaxy and that’s the level he’s at now.

Argentina played the better football today so prob earned it. Wonder how the next WC is gonna go with 48 teams.

So England spunked away another chance to win something then? Heard a stat earlier that Southgate's team has played top ten nations 24 times, and won 4. And they're keeping him again?? Thats not fair. We didn’t spunk anything away. We went out against a team that outplayed us on the day. If we’d have won, I’m doubt we’d have beaten Argentina. I’ve got no problem with a top 8 finish when we’re matched up against one of the world’s best teams.

Yeah, banter aside it's pretty difficult to say you spunked it when you were up against the defending champions and almost back-to-back winners.

Pretty torn watching that final as I dislike both nations for various reasons. That being said, it was a cracking final and thinking about those Ronaldo tears, I'm kind of glad Messi got the ultimate send off.

Did Cristiano manage to equal Eusebio's World Cup goal tally? Portugal's 2nd best player at world cups isn't exactly the legacy he wanted, I'm guessing.

The contrast between Macron and the Argentinian PM (at least I think that's who it is) is incredible.

Is it traditional dress, or covered in logos? Looks like a negligée
