Aw shame, did they not like being cast as taking part in the 'race hate riots'?

More race-hate rioters are being sentenced today.
From the BBC:
Exactly the kind of genius move you'd expect from a participant in the Farage riots.

384 mass shootings so far this year. Where 'mass shooting' means 4 or more people (not including the shooter) were shot. That's a lot of fucking shooting.

Such a conundrum as to what could be done here to stop all these senseless deaths and families lives ruined. If only we could get to the bottom of the problem.

Erm, the 14yr old shooter (which is a phrase I thought I'd never write) has been named which is unusual and is being tried as an adult which is also incredibly unusual.

Another mass shooting in the US. At least 6 dead.

Private Eye have been asking questions too. Mostly about why some experts' views were not admissable to the court than suggesting any doubt.

I have a morbid fascination with the process - she could be guilty, but also subject to an unsafe conviction.

I try not to know too much tbh. Both my kids were nicu babies and the idea that someone could want to harm them is unfathomable.

Oh, I mean a fascination with the legal process, not the details of the crimes. It's the idea that the way the evidence was presented and (mis)understood by the jury makes the conviction questionable, but guilt is still likely.

Guess it'll come down to whether they can secure an exoneration or a retrial with the additional evidence.

Part of me wonders about the media fascination behind this isn't so much the crime, more that she doesn't fit the usual profile of someone who would be associated with such a terrible crime as in a conventionally next door pretty, young white female. Sure, how the conviction was done should be looked at but the amount of media attention it has got feels like it wouldn't happen if she didn't fit her description.

I still think Letby's guilty, based upon everything I've read, but it's absolutely right that these questions should be asked.
It's somewhat reminiscent of the Amanda Knox situation - and I think she did it as well! - in that Letby and Knox both became causes célèbres for armchair sleuths and op-ed writers, all of whom managed to muddy the waters to a large degree.

I've had a bad feeling about the case from the off, because of the overreliance on statistical arguments and expert witnesses to construct the majority of the case. It bears very similar hallmarks to the Sally Clark case, where the expert witness said her two sons dying of natural causes had a chance of 1 in 73 million of happening, a number he had essentially made up completely. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sally_Clark

I haven't followed it closely enough to be able to have a decent opinion, but there were several similar cases in other countries recently, and almost all of them seemed to later get overturned.
That guardian article makes it sound like the entire case is basically built on circumstantial evidence, and the main expert witness for the prosecution changed his theory on the fly to something that no other experts agree with.
I sincerely hope there was more evidence than just shift patterns.

From memory, the cases that involved [upsetting content below the spoiler tag, for those who don't want to know about it] babies being poisoned with insulin will be the biggest hurdles for anyone wishing to exonerate Letby. I think even she admitted during the trial that *someone* had deliberately administered insulin to them, but claimed it wasn't her. Some of the other incidents could be explained as coincidence or incompetence, rather than malice, but I don't see how the insulin ones can be explained away in satisfactory fashion.
