It's not roguelikey is it? Only in the sense that you only have 2 lives before the day resets and you lose anything such as skills, weapons, perks that you haven't saved. In practice it plays like a linear FPS because I hardly died. |

I mean they're very different games gameplay wise and tonally. I enjoyed both but loved Prey more for it's world building and atmosphere.

I'd struggle to give Prey more than 6/10. I do seem to have some kind of allergy to their games though.

I think it's a little bit because visually it looks quite ordinary (doesn't have an immediately distinctive look like Dishonored) so it doesn't seem like a very exciting prospect when looking for something new to start
I haven't got the Dishonored games on Series X yet so I'll wait for that Dishonored/Prey bundle to go on sale and grab them all at the same time

Not really, it's has a lot DNA with Dishonoured in powers terms and is more similar to that, the difference is though that going in loud is as equally effective as playing stealthily, sometimes I'd even say that playing aggressive can be even more fun. |

Ah knackers - I thought it'd be an iterative process of learning routes, behaviours etc. To a point, but it's not as extensive as Hitman is, it's just very iterative of Dishonoured. |

Dunno if this is some kind of meta thing but I can't get passed the start screen on this. Just stuck on a loop of getting booted to an error screen. Anyone else getting this with the free version they've just put on Plus? Reinstall hasn't fixed it.

May have to play this on PC. I played it back when it came out on PS5 and enjoyed it ok, but didn't love it like I have loves previous Arkane games. I put some of that down to my ineptitude with playing FPS games on a pad (particularly the invasion mechanic, which became quite frustrating after getting killed umpteen times in a row when you were just trying to do something at a particular time of day).
Perhaps I will gel a bit more with it with a mouse and keyboard.

Still fucked. Tried installing it to the console instead of the external drive and restored the licenses but it still stuck at the title screen. Guess my Arkane allergy was worse than I thought.

Going to start this a bit later after school run and food shop. Any tips? Don't get too hung up on being sneaky. If it hits the fan, just get stuck in. Stealth is great but full on combat equally so. I used to start stealthy and if shit went south, just started blasting.

I have high hopes. Absolutely love prey and everything dishonoured. I do had repeating stuff though but it sounds like they've done it well and they nailed the mooncrash loop.

Yerp. There are some sweet weapons and trinkets to make blasting fools a, umm, blast.
I started a new game this morning and am enjoying the sense of "New Game +" I have from completing the loop previously.

By the end I was a silent assassin headshotting everyone with my silenced smg teleporting about the place. They nailed the progression from loop noob to I know what I'm doing.

It really was one of the most out and out fun games I'd played in a long time. I was very much done with it by the time I had finished but up until that point, it was fucking brilliant.

Best tip I can offer is not to get disheartened with the rather overwhelming (and in places underwhelming) first few hours. Stick with it. When the various systems come together in your head; when you learn the levels somewhat; and you get some sweet, sweet, upgrades it turns into something utterly spectacular. Avoid guides on t'Internet. Come back here for some subtle hints and tips. Discovery is half the fun.  |
