The brand new 4K restoration of Event Horizon is out tomorrow. Doesn't have the extended orgy and torture scene unfortunately. Wasn't all the extra content lost forever?

Directed by Vadim Jean, who for one hot minute was the indie darling of British cinema in the 1990s.

If I remember right, they found the lost footage for Event Horizon but the film had degraded to the point where it was unusable.

According to the wiki page the original rough cut was found on vhs but no ones watched it yet as the guy who had it retired and took it to Spain with him.

AI-enhanced VHS stuff has been released before, it looks like trash, so I wouldn't hold your breath for it ever to be released officially.

I enjoyed it enough that I would watch the DC.

I recently watched the extended cut of The Wrath of Khan in 4k (having never seen that cut of the film before) and I thought it messed with the pacing a bit too much to make it worth watching over the theatrical cut.
The good news, at least, is that the 4k release seems to have fixed the awful muted colour grading of the Hd Blu-ray.
Looking forward to finally getting to see how well (or badly) they've pulled off the 4k full remaster of The Motion Picture Director's Cut (which Paramount has reportedly spent a fortune on having the effects redone for UHD) when the disc comes out in September.

That's great to read, can you watch the theatrical cut in 4K?

gammonbanter Yep, both the theatrical and extended WoK 4k release come on a single UHD disc, with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision for both versions. As for the upcoming TMP release, I believe you only get the Director's Cut in the standard UHD release, but there is a 5 disc special edition up for pre-order with 3 different cuts of the film (Theatrical, Director's and Extended), all remastered in 4k, but with the original effects kept in for the Theatrical and Extended versions.

Ah bollocks I ordered the wrong version of Waterworld. Apparently the Arrow release is supposed to be better.

The 4k version of Stop Making Sense is fairly superb, and has a Dolby atmos track done very well too.
I could only get it via the states from A24, but it really is good

I'm kind of glad A24 don't have a UK shop, because my wallet would be crying.

Best place to buy them in the UK? At the moment I mainly use Amazon.

Only seems worth it for minor improvement for 3D version on a big screen?! What really stings is that we didn't get a UHD 3D standard the extra resolution would have really made a difference.

Picked up National Lampoons Vacation on 4K for a tenner this week. Find it weird watching early 80s films like this with a 4k image and HDR. Classic movie though.
Another thing, always wish they didn't bundle in the Blu Ray and knocked a fiver off the price. I now have about 25 4K releases, each with a BR disk equivalent that will never get used.

Yeah I don't get it either. I recently picked up the Indy collection and it has 9 bloody discs, with half being Blu-Ray and one film that is shit.
