When I got my PS5 a few months back, right out the box the supplied HDMI cable would not work. The TV could simply not recognise anything being connected to it.
Any other HDMI cable worked fine. The cable also didn't work if I tried to use it with other devices.
At the time I had heard a bit about HDMI 2.1 and wondered whether my TV might just be too old.
However, I got a new TV the other day, very modern mid-range set. But still the supplied HDMI cable does not work. Same issue - no signal is detected. Any other cable again works fine.
Is there something special about the supplied cable? Am I and my TV simply not worthy? Is an HDMI 2.1 cable any different? Is it just a dud? Anyone else have issues with this?
My TV doesn't have true hdmi 2.1 features, but as I understand it the cable should still in theory work?

its probably as simple as some HDMI cables are duds. I have two Amazon basic ones, one works fine with the PS5, ones creates a weird snowstorm effect with it.

The hdmi they supply is a bit shit, I had a flickering issue so bought a new one and it's been fine since.

Doesn't it need to be perfectly straight for maximum performance?

I clicked hoping to find something that would become Legendary. I am rather disappointed. Just sounds like a dud cable.

Forget HDMI 2.1. You need one of those £120 gold plated cables. Not sure if Curry's PC World still sell them?

I got a dodgy cable with my Series X, the picture would go blank for a second or two every so often. I got in touch with Microsoft, sent it back and they sent a new one which works fine. Presumably you can do the same here?
