Of course, right after posting my little rant I managed to defeat the Unbidden (it's always the Unbidden) and figured, since I'm here, I might as well see this game to the end. And after that, I guess it wouldn't hurt to spend a couple dozen hours getting used to the changes in the new update...

And after that, I guess it wouldn't hurt to spend a couple dozen hours getting used to the changes in the new update... I played to completion when it came out, but it was such a strange game - there was a huge lull in the midgame, like literally 40 hours of gaming time where absolutely nothing happened. I was in a Confederation with a sizeable AI player, the galaxy had been parcelled out, and there was really nothing to do except pump the military. It was pretty relaxing though, probably why I kept playing. Even then I was lucky when the end game crisis arrived - a big bad started eating the map from the opposite end of the galaxy from us, so we had time to prepare. By the time we defeated him, we automatically met the 'Own x% of the galaxy' victory condition, as he'd eaten the rest Hopefully it's a bit more balanced by now.

It has changed a lot, but what you describe can still happen. Except there is no "own x% of the galaxy" victory condition anymore. Whoever has the most points at the year 2500 (or after that when crisis finishes) wins in default galaxies.

Everspace 2 (Early Access)
Approaching Nepthys Plains:
Okkar clerical corvette:
They are really going for detail in the ship models.
When I zoomed in on this panel on the hull:
I found a warning notice directed at people boarding the ship:
This made me curious about the details of my own ship, which I discovered is covered in various pieces of text:
I also found that my cockpit textures are currently mirrored:
Prescott Starbase:
Where if you zoom in far enough on the tiny traffic moving through the station, amongst the various space vans and cargo carriers, you can find little guys on space bikes:

Necromunda - Hired Gun: I have been attempting to get some good action screenshots, but Hired Gun is much faster and deadlier than Deathwing and it can be hard to find a good moment for screenshots. Not least since most of them end up as a mess of blood, explosions and with enemy outlines and item outlines messing everything up.
First off, how not to do it:
Well done, shield gone, health low, both barrels empty...
...but that's what Stimms are for.
Ideal conditions for the Long Las.
That's (below) probably somebody going splat from Crush (teleport + AoE) whith Time Slow turned on.
One of the few blood/explosion-shots that came out distinct and sharp.
Takedowns are often pretty slow and not particularly satisfying, but they at least give some time to marvel at all that character detail that one can otherwise never really pay attention to. Eschers use energy weapons way more than the other clans. Lots of Plasma Pistols and Long Las'.
Edit: I noticed that the women are rather overrepresented here, but have no fear it doesn't get any more manly than this:

Another lucky Binding of Isaac run. I also found the prayer card early on (this seems to be a recurring theme), but mostly, I found lots of powerups for the tears. I had rapid fire static double shot coal penny tears with several +damage upgrades. Satan didn't stand a chance.

Trigon: Space Story (Demo)
"Centennial Hawk" sounds awfully familiar from somewhere. Can't quite place it though. *cough*
I do like the red-hot glow of the engines.
Very, very early in and we've already been attacked by insects, who teleport one of their own into our engine room where it proceeds to beat the living fuck out of my engineer. I sent our gunner in to help.
Managed to destroy the attackers, but not before they'd managed to do in two thirds of the crew, leaving Captain Samuel suddenly alone.
Samuel has levelled up from that battle, and I choose to give him a body armour upgrade, because he's probably a bit shell-shocked after that horror show.
I manage to locate a trading station, but because I'm so early in I've not acquired much in the way of credits. Even after flogging a weapon I salvaged from the insect bastards, I only have enough funds to hire on one new crew member, a hyperdrive specialist.
Two jumps away from the station, I'm immediately attacked again, and destroyed in very short order. Door controls were destroyed first, life support next, so when the fires took hold, we were doomed.
This was the easiest of three difficulty settings.

So it's basically FTL but with fancier graphics?

I think Dune: Spice Wars looks pretty good. Its restricted camera makes for difficult screenshotting, though.

Much like they did with the Klingon starting experience last year, Star Trek Online has completely re-done the Starfleet starting episode, with new models, higher fidelity textures, and a re-worked plot with a new guest actor.

Inquisitor: The art is certainly one of its strong aspects.
There are detailed descriptions for everything and there is usually a lot of lore in addition to the description of the functionality.
There are three character classes to choose from: Paladin, Priest and Thief, though the latter apparently refers to something like a disgraced noble or so. He's basically the ranged character that knows a little more magic than the Paladin.
Personally I went with the Paladin though. The five upper skills are common to all three, whereas the other seven are unique to each character.
It's an attrition game. Mana (to the right) and health don't regen on their own and stamina (middle) only regens when standing still. Stamina also is used up by all kinds of stuff: Attacking, taking damage (like poison that lasts a few minutes ;(), even repairing equipment uses stamina. And equipment also has a tendency to get damaged, especially the weapon. The result is a whole lot of running back to town to repair, identify, sell and get more potions. Early on I was always out of Stamina.
This seemed like a good omen though. Doggo was later joined by a Paladin and everything is way more manageable with two buddies. Even though they never stopp eating my potions.
The way the UI looks is different for Priest and Thief.
Doggo got stuck in the tavern and I noticed way too late. Thankfully this has only happened once or twice so far.
The length of this response is pretty typical and most characters have a lot of dialogue options. Oftentimes additional options show up dependant on the stuff the player character has already learned. The amount of text in here is really quite unbelievable. Apparently the english translation took them three years.

A few screens of Session a skate sim in early access. Still very much in early access but I've had hours of fun out it. Even made a skate vid.

Some Forza Horizon 5.
I do not ever want to think again about how long it took me to spy that one remaining tiny speck of road that ticked me over from 577 to 578. It was my white whale.

Homeworld Remastered
I have beef with some of the mechanical changes made from the original Homeworld, but visually they did everything right.
Both HW2 and HW2 Remastered are exported to a souped-up version of the HW2 engine, and HW2 already looked spectacular for its time.
In fact, let's compare to some of my old screenshots of the un-remastered HW2:
For a game from 2003 it's extremely pretty. I replayed it not long before the IP went up for sale and the remaster was announced, and I remember thinking all it would really need was a punch-up of the ship textures and higher-res backgrounds. In HW1 everything was a lot lower res and I couldn't even get it to run at modern resolutions at the time, so the remaster makes a bigger difference there.
Anyway, back to HW:Remastered. Sadness.
I stole these enemy destroyers.
And yoinked their carrier.
I forgot you could steal almost any ship when I first started so I replayed the early missions. 2 destroyers, 9 ion array frigates, 4 assault frigates, 1 support frigate and a carrier for good measure. And a bunch of corvettes that I immediately recycled. Why build a fleet when you can just steal everything bigger than a fighter?
Gardens of Kadesh.
