Everspace 2 (Early Access)
I almost bought this ship purely on the Starfury-esque wings.
Defending Prescott Starbase from raiders.
Zoom in far enough on some of the traffic at the starbase, and there are guys on space bikes.
Getting my octopus waffles on.
A drone carrier going down over Nepthys Plains.
Elekk, bugging out in the middle of a fight, as usual.

Some Elden Ring screenshots - no spoilarz, and not always the most spectacular because of that. I started out as an Astrologist (Mage), and you start with a really powerful spell that can take out multiple enemies. It's still my bread and butter at level 72 (pictured - level 10 or so): My character in her best frock: Unfortunately I am playing as a kind of Conjoined Steve Bannon because this terrible helmet gives me +6 to Int. Muuuuaaaahhhhhhaahaha. We're gonna take back the Lands Between from those liberal cuck Shardbearers: One nice open world aspect is these paintings - you have to find the place it was painted from in the world: And you run into pitched battles between NPCs: I'll just do a bit of mopping up now that the evil T-Rex terriers have been driven off: Looks inviting: General panaoramas: Oh no:

Those screenshots are pretty underwhelming. Even the HUD and spell icons look ripped straight out of Dark Souls

I really like your scarab hat.
I just started last night so I'm still in my warrior starter armor.

Good morning, Font Geek. Today is Monday Tuesday, March 15th, 2032 2022.
Please enjoy some shots from Prey, and its expansion Mooncrash for good measure.

Guild Wars 2, some shots from the Path of Fire (2nd) expansion. Exploration-wise I found it a little disappointing after the first expansion (which I loved), but there are still a lot of secrets to find and pretty places to explore.
Lots of griffon shots, because riding around on the griffon and roller beetle is most of what I do in the game now. Hard to take screenshots when riding them though, and it doesn't really capture the flying, but a video is just a series of screenshots, right?
I really like how they did the mounts. Instead of just a thing that goes fast or a thing that flies they gave them actual mechanics and distinct niches. So the Griffon is mainly a glider that can't really gain altitude from its starting position, but it has a dive that gives it massive speed and can then pull up and trade that velocity to regain altitude. So if you start from a high enough perch you can gain immense speed and cover whole zones in seconds, but it's not a trivial thing to do or control. The roller beetle is similar but tied to the ground. It's literally a beetle that rolls, which doesn't sound exciting, but it has a massive speed boost ability and at speed it has drift mechanics to take sharper turns, can skip on water and launch itself off ramps and do tricks. It makes travel, the most boring part of MMOs, actually fun which is quite an achievement. I'm not very good at using them, but there are people who can pull off ridiculous stuff and whole guilds dedicated to racing and griffon flying.

I'm replaying Cryostasis - Sleep of Reason: A bit more of a narrative Horror-experience that Action Forms (ukr) made after Vivisector - Beast Within. But it's still very much an FPS as well. Unfortunately it was removed from gog and steam a while back.
The outer circle of the health meter indicates the surrounding temperature, whereas the inner section is the actual health but it will always adjust back to the surrounding temperature relatively quickly.
Which is why the player is always looking for heat sources. Though just being in an warm environment will also do the trick. Just more slowly.
Uh oh, I do remember that one. No choice but to drop him down the shaft if one wants to progress.

Nice, I need to put that one back on my list, as you reminded me I dropped it for a new shiny many years back (Steam says 21 mins so it was the briefest of glances). Looking forward to your thoughts

Cryostasis: I put the last few in spoiler tags. Just since they are bit more obvious in terms of story spoilage than the others.

I played Cryostasis back when RPS was writing about it and I think I liked it, but even when seeing the screenshots I barely remember it. Is it worth replaying do you think?

For me it was very much worth it, but it's difficult to say. I mean, it's quite slow and I'm sure some might have issues with the gameplay being fairly clunky. The flashbacks can also cause some trial-and-error, but even on my first playthrough I didn't run into too much trouble in that regard and less on this one. Personally I have always really liked the story and atmosphere and I don't think I ever minded that it was slow since that seemed like it was intended. It's also mercilessly linear and controls progress very tightly, so that might be another thing worth keeping in mind.

Looking at the first few screenshots, I was sure it must be a sequel or something, because they are totally gone from my brain. Only the boss fight and the last screenshot triggered some memories.

the Hunter - Call of the Wild: Mostly just playing it for the landscape, weather system, simulation and less so for the hunting.
All of these are from one map, some wildlife reserve somewhere in Germany.
"Nice detail!" I thought to myself right before the geese suddenly got pushed into a line and disappeared from the sky...
The variety of weather effects is pretty good. Not as good as hoped for, but it's pretty dynamic and the pace of change is reasonably slow.
At one point I looked up since a bird-call did sound familiar and sure enough there were some common buzzards.
It really feels very different when the sun is blocked. It's often also quite dingy as can be seen in shot Nr.5.
I'm not planning on doing much actual hunting, but I was still interested in how it all works. As it turns out it's extremely easy to scare away the wildlife. Sneaking absolutely required.

Really surprised by how pretty those graphics are. I always assumed hunting games were shovelware.

I think that is the same engine as Generation Zero. Maybe this is rather more refined, but I always thought, for a relatively small teamed effort, GZ could look really quite beautiful at certain times of day.

Really surprised by how pretty those graphics are. I always assumed hunting games were shovelware. Yeah, I had similar assumptions, but some reviews made it pretty clear how worthwhile this might be even while mostly ignoring the hunting. I mean, obviously only if you are actually interested in the general feel, details etc.

Haven't had time to get to GZ so far, but I didn't know that.

Made a handful of Stellaris screenshots:
Hah, I just noticed that the volcanic moon of the left planet is no longer volcanic, when the dyson sphere is completed.

I'm trying to get back into Stellaris after a break but, man, the endgame crisis mechanic completely saps my enjoyment of the game. No matter how interesting or unusual your playthrough has been, it'll always show up to remind you that you were supposed to be min-maxing the entire time.

Quasi You can just disable it when you define your galaxy at start, though. Same goes for fallen empires, pirate marauders, etc. Also, if you design your ships to counter theirs, and take the ascendancy that gives you +50% damage against crisis ships, you can at least hold your ground against them (upgrading existing ships to a new design is much faster/cheaper than wasting them and building new ones). Depending on galaxy shape and where they land, it can still be fucking hard to not be overrun, but in most cases it's possible to defend your empire, if it's not too spread out.

How many DLCs are the two of you playing with by the way? Are there any that you would consider necessities?

I have all of them besides Federations and Nemesis, but really, they aren't worth it at full price. I bought them all when they were 75% off. The species packs bring some nice variety, so I would recommend them. Synthetic Dawn is important if you want to play machine empires. Distant stars and Ancient Relics add some nice stuff to the map to discover, Utopia adds dyson sphere and ringworld, Apocalypse adds titan and colossus ships. The only one I disable is Megacorp. Most stuff it adds I find annoying.
I wouldn't say any one of them is strictly necessary, but I like to play machine empires, so I guess Synthetic Dawn I couldn't live without. I also like the L Cluster, so Distant Stars would probably be second most desirable for me of those I have.

zagibu I know, I know. The thing is—however petulant this'll sound—I shouldn't have to turn it off, or follow a certain Ascension path, or what have you. I just see it as bad game design: you're playing Civilization for three-quarters of the game, and then it suddenly turns into Colonization. "Hope you were preparing for the British to invade. Anyway, good luck!" ToomuchFluffy I've only played with most of them on so it's hard to tell exactly what's what, but Utopia seems to be considered the one must-have. I quite liked the diplomatic wheel-and-dealing of playing as a Megacorp but the criminal syndicate side of that is probably very annoying to have to play against. Nemesis adds a bunch of espionage options that I enjoyed for flavor but ultimately don't feel very impactful, strategywise. It does add one of the coolest shipsets to the game, though. But yeah, I agree that you should wait for one of the semifrequent sales to pick anything up regardless.

Yeah, maybe it should be off by default or force you to make a choice when you start a new galaxy.
