My Rimworld base.
I'm playing as a bunch of tribal cannibals who are really into transhumanism and want to turn themselves into cyborgs. I used to try to justify the cannibalism with the fact that we only ate people who came to raid us, but then my colonists started getting sad from not munching down on long pork for a while so I may have raided some neutral camps and carried people off to be eaten. We're monsters. Cannibalism may be a tad overpowered. Normally your colonists really, really hate butchering and eating humans and single cannibals in a settlement are kind of a burden. But with the ideology expansion you can make *everyone* a cannibal, and whenever a human raid turns up it's a big feast being delivered right to your doorstep.
One of my religious rituals is a gladiator duel, where I can make colonists or prisoners fight to the death. Whenever I get raided and there are survivors I capture them and make them fight in my arena. Crouca up there has survived nine duels so far. After her first few I started rewarding her for every victory, first with some swanky devilstrand clothes, then I started making her prison cell bedroom more and more luxurious. She has become my champion and every prisoner has to face her to earn their chance at freedom. If they die they get eaten. If they lose but live I patch them up and release them. If they beat her they will get to take her place. And her place isn't bad. Here's my prison:
Crouca's cell up top there is nicer than any of my colonists' bedrooms. She has a royal bed, a marble table, two wolfskin armchairs and her own food supply. An excellent jade statue gives the room a permanent "gorgeous environment" buff. I put beer in there at first but she immediately started binging so I took away her alcohol privileges before she could go full alcoholic. The last thing I put in there was her personal biosculpting pod, where I can shove her in to heal any wounds and regrow lost toes and fingers after duels. If she ever gets sad (like when her sister turned up in a raid and we shot her head clean off) I run her through a pleasure cycle and she'll be all happy again.
Honestly, my prisoners should be thankful I'm giving them a chance at such a pampered life.
Poor Galga, alas, never stood a chance.
You're going to fit in well here.

Yes! The Rimworld posts have made the move here! I look forward to some more. A couple from the early stages of Control from me:

It might be a horrific cannibal murder dungeon, but it's home.

Gosh I love Mad Max, and I also remember that its photo mode was so widely used that it seemed to have just kickstarted a lot of photo modes in other games as well.

Really appreciated having it available as I was playing Shadow Warrior 2 and Rage 2. It's just so nice not having any clutter in the way, being able to easily adjust perspective and so on.

Really like Nvidia's Ansel for screenshots. Shame it's not used by many games

Some landscapes and illustration for spells from Two Worlds 2.
The dungeon was pitch-black to a point where I really actually needed a torch. It's also cool that there is a special attack move for the torch as well.
Walking on water. There are potions for it, but one can also make a spell with the same effect.
Other spells can be used to levitate or repel inanimate objects. Not sure what the use of it is, but I haven't tried it with stronger effects. At very least one can get blockage out of the way.
Vespine summons.
Alternatively a fiery projectile which then summons a Dark Knight.

Rimworld The goal of my current playthrough is to wipe every pirate base off the map. I started with 19, now there are only 3 left, up in the northern tundra. My base is down in the south-east so it's going to be a long trek and lots of preparation to get there. I spent a season breeding guinea pigs to make warm clothes (their fur has the best heat insulation), tamed a herd of bison as pack animals because I'm worried my horses will freeze to death, and I'm bringing my two royal pawns so they can call in shuttles if things go really south. Probably overkill, but I'm sending my best and don't want to lose them to something as stupid as cold weather. A typical pirate base: A couple of turrets and about 20 enemy pawns. Sometimes they have a mortar forcing you to rush in and neutralise it before they can start shelling you. Destroying the pirate bases isn't a big issue, it's mostly the long journeys and leaving your home base with only a skeleton crew of defenders that's dangerous. My strike team is just 6 people, so they're always outnumbered, but between their excellent gear, bionic upgrades and psypowers they're essentially wizard terminators at this point. They could probably take on a hundred enemies without breaking a sweat. Once the enemies are cleared out and the turrets disabled we claim the whole base, set up a hoopstone ring for recreation and make a stockpile zone in the kitchen where we drag in all the corpses. Our chef, Baud, spends the evening butchering them up and cooking some yummy human meals. They don't last long on the road without refrigeration so it's not worth cooking all of them, but human leather is valuable so we butcher them all up anyway. The next morning before packing it all up and leaving I have Hertz set fire to the crops and piles of corpse-tainted clothes. She's a pyromaniac so she loves throwing molotovs around. There's no real gameplay reason for this, it just seems appropriate. When you attack a base they call for reinforcements, but they take 4 days to arrive. By that time we're long gone and all they'll find are burnt fields, ruins, and leftover piles of human meat. Back in my base Crouca still reigns supreme in my gladiatorial arena with 16 victories under her belt. This last one kinda went a little far though. Poor Parrot got both her eyes cut out, and lost an ear. Parrot wasn't even a raider that came to attack us. She'd done nothing to deserve this. Her tribe set up a work camp close to us and *we* raided *them*, and carried her off with us after we'd killed (and later ate) all her friends. I hadn't even looked at her profile before; she's a 59 year old healer with no combat skills and severe asthma. I kidnapped and imprisoned her and made her fight in a death match she never had any chance of winning. She survived and my rules say she'd earned her freedom but I couldn't let her go like this. I made her two new bionic eyes and an ear, transplanted two new lungs to cure her asthma and shoved her in a biosculpting pod for a week to fix her scarred foot and regrow a finger before releasing her. All better now. Better than when you arrived even. Just don't ask where I got a pair of spare lungs. Here's my freezer room after a raid on our base. A lot of corn, some elephants and thrumbos, and er, 88 human corpses. I'm very careful about not letting visiting guests anywhere near my freezer. I didn't intend for this playthrough to become nightmare fuel, but here we are.
edit: Doh, forgot you can't just paste in the links as text here. Fixed.

Tempted to buy a copy now If it seems like something you'd enjoy I heartily recommend it. There's a bit of a learning curve when you start out (especially with the DLCs) and it's a game where you often have to set your own goals and find your own fun, but there's nothing else quite like it and it's much more approachable than Dwarf Fortress. It also has a very healthy modding scene, so plenty of room to tinker with it if you're into that.

Doesn't it have miasma like in DF? You mean with regards to the corpses I'm carting around? Not quite, pawns normally get a significant mood debuff just from seeing corpses, and a bigger one from seeing rotting corpses. If they have the cannibal or bloodlust traits or (as in my case) you've made a religion with cannibalism as a precept they don't mind fresh corpses. They still find them very ugly though, so you don't want to leave them scattered about the place. Other things that rot, like food or plant matter, generally just deteriorate and disappear.

Ah, okay. In DF you had to dispose of corpses in special rooms, because if they were not in the open, they would produce a cloud of miasma, which gave everyone passing through it very negative thoughts. I usually made a 1 tile dump with a hole in the bottom covered by a hatch that was linked to a lever, so that I could empty it into a pit below it, which was then closed off by the hatch and thus trapped the miasma cloud inside.
But yeah, since z-levels don't seem to exist in Rimworld, that wouldn't be possible anyway.

Yeah, in Rimworld you have to dig graves or build a crematorium (or put corpses in a big pile and throw molotovs at them). Or in my case throw them in the freezer so they don't rot before I can get around to butchering and cooking them. So the principle of having to deal with corpses is there, but the mechanics are a bit different.

In a recent playthrough my colony, The Skin Bandits, had human leather cowboy hats and dusters, was a lot of fun until Randy Random ended it all :/

so glad rimworld diaries continue Probably not much more. Was going to do a proper diary on RPS, but that didn't happen for obvious reasons and I'm almost done with this playthrough now. Kinda feeling it's time to play something else for a while as I've racked up almost 100 hours in less than a month. I have some more oddball ideas I'd like to try in Rimworld, but I have to do some research to check if it's even feasible.
I'm going to be stupidly self-indulgent and repost my favourite post from the RPS screenshot thread. It's going down forever tomorrow (tonight) and I just wanted to save something before it gets wiped.
So enjoy (again) Kassandra kicking everything in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
I'm sure I had a series of screens of Kassandra hanging off various giant butts, boobs and dongs, but it seems like I may have accidentally deleted it. Damnit.

A few more from Two Worlds 2. Still messing around with spells and physics, but I'm also rather enjoying just letting my Dark Knights go to work. Very convenient, though they tend to be in the way in tight spaces. I also have been trying to learn to fly with the help of Tornado Shield and rocks.
I don't have a good shot of it, but I have just added a projectile to my spell selection that ricochets between enemies and then unleashes a stream of anvils falling from the sky onto them. It always looks a bit silly how in the aftermath of battle you have some random anvils lying around.

Is it good? I've been sort of vaguely aware of these games, but they never really got much attention and they look a bit euro-janky (which isn't necessarily bad).
