He absolutely hasn't been awful. If we're measuring him to the same standard as everyone he's at least had some take ons and made good runs. Ronaldo is dead This aged well I was obviously tempted to add that he can always score. It's an issue for us though. I'll stand by that. Great result. Terrible performance

Don't give a shit how we played for now, nothing beats a last minute winner.

I'll take that. Yeah, pretty shocking performance, especially Dalot. We got raped down his side all night.
Papering over cracks, etc. But can't complain about a win haha.

I'm not sure you can call Ronaldo a problem. He has 5 in 5 at the moment, regardless of any other contribution we don't have anyone else that can do that.

We really, really needed that win. With 1 point from 2 and an away game to this lot to come, I think we'd have been humming the Europa League theme tune again before long.

Yea, when he scores you can't say it's a problem I suppose but if you look at the performance it looks like a problem. I really should know that he just always finds a way. He's an exceptional goalscorer and he bailed us out. I think we have a strong enough team we shouldn't be reliant on bailouts

You can see why Emery's got these drawing so much as well. They should have fucking battered us but they shit themselves after they went 1-0 up and doubly so after we scored. Emery to a tee that.

If we were a cohesive whole I'd totally agree with mike. Leaving a 36 year old, no matter what great shape he's in, on the pitch when you're looking to inject energy into a performance is madness.
But we play for the bailouts. It's our actual system. We're entirely reliant on our special players pulling something special out of the bag. It wins games like these now and again, but it's bobbins over a 38 game season or any other meaningful competition. It's the whole problem.

I feel a bit sorry for Dalot and Telles though. They either come in through injury, or when playing a second string, and meant to get up to pace straight away. Both really lack match fitness at this point and it would be difficult for any player, especially playing in defensive positions to be up to the pace straight away.
I still think both of those players would suit a wing back system better anyway, a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 so they had better cover behind. them

Same thing with van de Beek. How he's supposed to show he's worth a string of games when he's getting 14 minutes every other week is ridiculous. Especially when our midfield can't string 2 passes together. Just how shit is he?

Dalot would suit a league 1 team better, he is a complete liability.
Donny is a weird one, I think he moves the ball quite nicely and looks like he could be a good player. Ole clearly doesn't rate him though as he keeps playing those 2/3 in midfield

It's one of those where he's almost tarnished in the defeat. But what are you supposed to do when you're carted out down the green mile with a bunch of squad players?

We play shit, diabolical football. Same as we did when Fuhrer Mourinho *checks notes* finished second and WON the Europa League. You can cart any meaningless statistic you want out (like your one about 28 shots on the weekend incidentally, acting as if we've been parked outside their goalmouth all game and not, in fact, taking potshots that were bouncing off defenders), doesn't change how shit we are for everyone to see.

That’s the thing for me, with the squad he’s got we should be playing some incisive and exciting football
It’s like we put 11 different players on the pitch every week

They genuinely look like it's their first time playing together, every week.
Anyway, let's not turn another thread into a United PTSD zone. At least until Everton outclass us on the weekend.

I don't agree that it is as bad to watch as with Mourinho. It isn't the same. We were defensive team who barely attacked. Now we just attack pretty poorly a lot. LVG even worse. You obviously remember it differently.
Sure there are some that are as rubbish as with Mourinho. Tonight for example. Though honestly, Mourinho would have defended tonight with our whole team and try and nick a 1-0. That's what he did every match in the Europa League regardless of who we played.

I agree with that. Jose era was even worse than that stuff tonight. Ddg hoofing it became a constant irritant for me and would set me off as we inevitably list possession again.
