It literally doesn’t matter how shit things are under ole. People have picked their side and will double down on the decision no matter what happens and how bad the football is, they will come up with stuff to defend their cause.

I really don't think it's quite as black and white as that. There are people in this thread who aren't at either extreme.

The point has never been that it's worse, it's that it's barely any better. Which it isn't. You can throw whatever statistic you like at it, we still have roughly the same amount of diabolical games of football we have to sit through as we did before. Sure, we scrape more wins these days but I thought the whole point of getting rid of Mourinho and having a 'cultural reboot' was to get away from playing like utter shite all the time and start winning games with class again and playing good, progressive football.
So yeah, I do get my back up about it because it's hypocritical as fuck, and bordering on gaslighting when people get called out for pointing out there's barely any difference in the way we play. Other than getting fond memories of the late 90's and feeling better vibes around the club, we're no closer quality wise on the pitch to the clubs that have overtaken us since SAF left than we were at the beginning. To suggest so is ridiculous, you can navel gaze and "ackshully" about it all you want. You're in denial, not me.

People also need to separate 'results' and 'performances'. I honestly couldn't give a shit if I never see us lift another league title as long as I live. I've been luckier than 99% of football fans already as far as I'm concerned.
All I would like is to watch us kick the ball around without feeling like I've taken on another 2 hours of overtime at work. That's what it is watching us. Work.

I think the point is we are trying to play now. It's just not that good a lot of the time.
We sat back and hoofed balls to big afro before this...

All I would like is to watch us kick the ball around without feeling like I've taken on another 2 hours of overtime at work. That's what it is watching us. Work. I fully agree with this. There are too many teams better than mine (Arsenal), with more resources competing for a handful of trophies. It’s all about how much I enjoy the performances and whether it feels like a plan is in place, regardless of whether that plan ever materializes into trophies. Entertaining football and the sense that if the stars aligned we could win something/make it to a final is all I need. Actually winning things is icing on the cake and isn’t essential to me being happy with how the team is doing. I would argue that a sense of progress is also key. You could say that the above description applied to the late Wenger years, but the missing ingredient there was repeating the same mistakes over and over until it all felt pointless.

It’s all based on results. Don’t get them? Manager gets fired or players go to other clubs which produce them. United played plenty shit under Fergie and got the results. People tend to forget if you win stuff.

People tend to forget if you win stuff. One feeds into the other though, right? It's like with Klopp's Liverpool. They had, all said, a pretty mediocre start to life under him results wise. But there was never any sense it was going tits up, the performances and tempo were almost always pretty good and it always just felt like a case of 'when' and not 'if'. You always felt as though he knew exactly what he wanted to do and that translated on to the pitch very quickly, which became more consistent and refined as time went on. and it doesn't even, as a fan, have to culminate in silverware. I'm sure Spurs fans will remember their time under Poch very fondly, despite winning nothing ultimately, because there was a genuine sense of progression, and looking forward to the next game was something you were excited about rather than dreading.

A much needed win and glad to get one over on Villareal after the Europa League final. Doesn't disguise the fact that if we have to play PSG or Bayern at this point, they would destroy us. That is, if we even qualify at all, considering how close it is. You expect Villareal to win their next two matches against Young Boys. I would like to say the same against Atalanta, but who knows with this team really. At least not knowing whether we'll play shite or brilliant keeps each match interesting.

You are the only one doubling down on anything. Chill. Ole will get the sack soon enough or he won't.

You think PSG would destroy us? The same PSG that drew with Brugge and defended with 11 men against Man City?
I don't see it. Geeing up for big games has never been our problem under Ole. Though granted if they did against us what they did against City (Exciting Poch football TM) then they would definitely beat us.

Glad I got to see that Telles banger in the flesh. Good atmosphere and result, poor performance again.
We deserved to lose but it was rather nice that Moreno gave away the free kick that led to the first goal, considering he was giving it the big un after the EL final. And he got booked.

It was a fucking unbelievable goal. There's nothing better in football than a clean first time hit like that for me.

It's the one rule of football. If you've been shouting at the TV and slagging them off all night, they'll definitely score.
I'm just going to pretend that's why I slag off the whole team. Reverse psychology baby.

It's going to be Carrick next, if not he's off to Spurs and will win them something while we flail and rue the decision to appoint Queiroz.
