I'd take a proper update system when in rest mode. Got all the settings selected yet anytime I get an update I still have to download and install it myself when I turn it back on or start a game, which makes it pointless right now.

That's odd, games update fine for me in rest. Comes up with a "what you missed" pop-up when I turn it back on, which lists anything that got updated.

PS3 backwards compatibility...
Might as well throw in PS2 and PS1 too. No digital horseshit trying to sell me games I already own on disc. There's finite space in front of the TV and making your gaming box as useful as it possibly can be ensures it stays there and doesn't cede space to one of the competition's products.

Two of my friends get it the same way as you do and two get it like me, we've even compared our console settings. Read a few things about it only checking for updates at a certain time of the day (4am for UK seems to be most common), no idea if there's any truth in that though. It's no big deal really but if that is accurate then there's no real reason for me to keep it in rest mode. Like most people I'd certainly take folders so I can put all the excess tiles in a "junk" one, or even just the option to hide the unused ones.

Copying saves to a USB drive Storing media like screenshots to external storage by default. I've got an external HDD connected to my PS5, don't understand why I can't just store media on that.

CD playback/transfer to hard drive, but that might be asking too much. Custom soundtracks in games.

Their own version of Xbox Quick Resume. IMHO, this should be a standard for all SSD consoles going forth.

Considering how spotty it is even on Xbox, it might be a long while before it becomes reliable on one platform, let alone a standard on all of them. No joke, of all the games I've played (and I've played quite a few because of Game Pass) it was supported in less than half of them. And even when it does work, there will be times when the console just randomly cancels your resume state, and sometimes you'll even have to cancel it yourself because of the sound crapping out or a soft freeze or something like that.

...Custom soundtracks in games. That's one of the reasons I will never get rid of Spotify. But I agree, this feature should not be locked behind an external service membership. I know we are all old now, but some of us still have CDs that we are happy to rip to an SDD! And use as custom soundtracks. Granted, not many of us. But still. Don't forget about us!

I was so upset when I bought my car a few years ago and it didn't have a CD player built in. How will I listen to my collection now? WHAT WILL I DO WITH ALL THESE DISCS? So yeah, a CD ripper/custom soundtrack feature would be nice. 👀 and yes, my car has Apple CarPlay so I do have music loaded on there ready to go, but man I miss a disc player

Some one with some sense to redesign the party and chat system. Why is it so complicated to join friends?
The card things that pop up if you press the ps button. Get rid please

Just got my PS5 and how the he’ll are folders still not a thing.
The UI is very pretty but functionality a bit poor, which is the opposite of how I feel about the Series X.

Any sort of feedback on Elden Ring. The network test had haptics. The release doesn't even have vibration

I'd like them to force devs to use the built in HDR calibration values. Currently playing Cyberpunk's PS5 patch and it ignores the system HDR configuration and makes you use its own sliders which is a pain. It's just a screenshot with a "fiddle with the sliders until it looks good" but the screenshot doesn't even reflect the effect it has on the game. I had to Google how to stop it looking washed out.
On the other hand reading this thread makes me appreciate the value of VRR now that they've finally added it. It truly feels like a solid framerate.

Appreciating this post is several months old, I just wanted to add Xbox does still have an issue with the feature. It is hit and miss as to whether it will work. When it does, it is glorious though.

Having looked into how quick resume actually works, and being something of a software engineer myself, let's just say it doesn't play to Microsofts strengths.

Not in my experience, it's all done automatically to the cloud. You have no real control over it either. Lost a save due to that feature

I tried and gave up finding a way to delete my Sunset Overdrive save so that I could start a new game. Aside from that I love how seamless saves are on Xbox. The PS system is just utterly shit, especially if you let your sub lapse and lose all of your saves.

Same as most recent Sony consoles, a clear indication for the over 50s of which button is the power and which is the disc eject. Like a holographic icon when you hold your finger over it. I should maybe paint one black.

I should maybe paint one black. I find this slightly easier than before with PS5. The outside/bottom one is power, which I remember by thinking “if it was a digital model which button wouldn’t be there?”

I just use the controller for turning off and on, or ejecting a disc. I can't waste the few brain cells I have on remember which button is which.

I should maybe paint one black. Also some sort of symbol to remind an old man which way up the disc goes into the drive. I don't put discs in very often and seem to get it wrong more often than not. Yesterday i put a disc in for the first time in 6 months. Upside down and then turned the console off trying to eject it.

Updates in rest mode would be nice. I know it works for most people but can't figure out why mine doesn't.
