What about the Ultimate Edition for £120? Not tempted? The crazy thing is for the amount of hours I'll end up playing, I could almost justify it, if everything else didn't leave a sour taste. Current favourite is the wall hack operator, how it tells me that I've been scanned and wall hacked while hiding... After I've been killed. |

How do you know if you have received an automatic update on the series X? It'll ask to update on launch if the latest patch hasn't been applied. Failing that, go to "Manage Battlefield 2042" and under "File info" you should see an update date in the bottom right corner. Alternatively the latest version is 1.0.71.536, also on the manage screen. |

Patch has done fuck all, it’s still hilariously broken. It’s 50/50 as to whether I’ll be able to pick or edit a loadout when a game loads up. Then I just had a game where I unloaded a full clip into the back of 3 different stationary players from about 15-20ft and not a single hit registered each time.
Gawd bless the 10hr trial.

I don't seem to have an issue hitting players although I do feel like I die one hit a lot of the time.
Hit registration vehicle vs vehicle appears completely broken to me plus xp assists when taking any vehicle down is just non existent, vehicles are massively over powered imo.
Rubber banding has stopped since the update and the game is running much more smoothly for me at least, can't get away with the 128 player count though.
They also need to work on the sound as Heli's, tanks and hovercrafts just appear from nowhere and you're dead before you even have time to take cover.

I’m on specs that are admittedly middling, but undoubtedly far in excess of what the majority of PC players are going to fire up with tomorrow.
I do wish them well with those Steam reviews; I suspect this is going to be REALLY fucking rough for Dice.

Managed to fix my start up error and play a few games with the new (day 1) patch. Somewhat remarkably my performance is even worse than it previously was: playing the whole round at sub 45 FPS. I’m on specs that are admittedly middling, but undoubtedly far in excess of what the majority of PC players are going to fire up with tomorrow. I do wish them well with those Steam reviews; I suspect this is going to be REALLY fucking rough for Dice. Well fuck, that doesn't bode well given I was only getting 40-60 with random drops far below beforehand. |

Okay, I uninstalled it. I'm done.
Performance was still woeful, game play was still woeful and servers were still woeful.
Played the new cod and halo infinite tonight just to compare and wow. 120+ fps in both titles, everything felt fantastic, which is a damn shame because I'm really fiendin' for a battlefield/large scale fps fix and neither of those games give me that.

I'm having a great time with this now it's running smoothly for me. Sever issues appear to have been sorted out and a nice rhythm has emerged on most of the maps.

Yeah, I've still been soldiering on despite the abysmal PC performance issues. If you like sniping, the SVK with the high impact rounds are a two shot kill, and once you've unlocked the short barrel the fire rate is really nice.

Yeah seems like there are guns that work. It’s that starting AR that really leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I think I read they said there was a bug going on, maybe, maybe it’s just poor balancing. As long as they don’t nerf effective weapons it should all err.. balance out eventually.

So there is something that is there that is obviously working. I’ve been playing as Angel for the entirety of what I have played so far, decided to give Boris a whirl and I’m really enjoying the game again with him. Having a much better time of it. Feel much more involved and like I’m actually contributing. Fees good laying down sentrys to cover and spot and picking off helis with the AA. |

Yeah I’ve been mostly playing Boris. Placing a sentry in a good position can instantly turn the tide of a battle. It’s so satisfying to suddenly light up all of your enemies on the map and then pop them one by one as they peek out of cover. Also he sort of looks like Tom Jones.

Its Rao and his hacking ability for me.
Disable a vehicle and follow it up with some AA/AT then you have a powerful combination (especially keeping those pesky pilots at bay) if your squad is on the same wavelength. Managed to hack Boris' turret and was disappointed to find it didn't turn on its former teammates - which seems like a massive oversight from DICE. But I actually feel like I'm actually contributing something.

I've also really enjoyed using the BF3 assault rifles. The shittest guns all seem to be in BC2 for some reason, which is strange as they're often the same as BF3, and the original BC2's weapon handling was a bit easier than BF3. Hopefully a patch will make the engineer guns better as currently they're pretty much useless. |

Slowly finding my feet in this but I still reckon 128 players and map size is way too much. There's such a big disconnect with what you're doing and how the score is looking. Weirdly, I never experienced that in something like Planetside.

I have the same experience regarding the score sometimes. We’ll be absolutely wrecking on a couple of points, defending, attacking etc, then look up at the tickets and see we are way down. The war looks good at my end but elsewhere death is prevalent. Probably because the dumb fucks are not reviving!
I also unlocked a lovely TOW missile on the hovercraft. Man those vehicles destroy with a full crew. I’m getting my kills in before they nerf them and turn them into paper machines.

Yeah, it's an interesting point actually; I've had a few similar ones, where I feel like we're totally bossing a few points, raking up kills and vehicle destroys, only to double take at the ticket score to see we're actually the ones getting wrecked overall. I've got a vague suspicion it's tied to the fact that I'm still not really engaging as a team/squad player atm. Or, at least, not fully or perhaps as I would have done in previous BF titles.
There's a slightly weird psychology at play. The specialist system combined with the unrestricted gadget/support loadouts has ultimately ended up with me spamming my specialist of choice (Sundance purely for the mobility) and rocking whatever anti-air/vehicle device is most suitable at the current time, and ultimately 'going solo' even when surrounded by team mates. The larger maps and consequent longer periods of down time also just serve to exacerbate this, I feel; has that distinctly BR feel of everyone for themselves.
I've still sank 40 hours in, mind you. After some aggressive overclocking and tweaking, I've finally managed to get it stable and fairly playable on my PC, which has certainly helped my enjoyment. There are still many fundamental design issues with the game, however. Going to be interesting to see what DICE ultimately does with this going forward.

Yeah it looks absolutely ridiculous.
Coupled hovercraft which scale buildings, and with the characters looking like they're from Overwatch or something, the game has gone full blown unrealistic.
