Finally managed to get a game, only on Portal, still can't get on to All our Warfare. Aricia Harbour was just as fun as BC2 and the little drone/helecopter is still just as OP.
It was fun but not sure if it's enough for me to part with the money for the full game just yet. Performance was better than I thought it would be but nothing out of the world.
I didn't see it go lower than 80fps but it was mostly between 90-110fps. Everything set to Ultra with DLSS set to performance. Playing at a resolution of 3840x1600 using an i7 9700K@ 4.8Ghz, 16GB RAM and a OC RTX3090.
Edit: Raytracing AO was off.

That’s good to hear. What are you current PC specs, incidentally? I’d be satisfied if I can hit 60fps at 1440p. I've got a Ryzen 5900X, 3080Ti, 32GB RAM. I'm getting 60fps at 3840x1600 with RTAO on and DLSS off. With RT off I get closer to 80-90fps.

Yeah ... you lads have WAY heavier specs than me lol, I suspect this isn't going to go well.
Download servers are pretty rough atm, going to be tomorrow before I can get in at this rate anyway.

Apparently voice chat isn't in the game and will come out some time after launch for both on PC and console. Discord, parties on console etc still work, but one what's organised chaos at the best of times, that's a huge oversight.

What's happened to disabling cross play on console? Was an option in the beta now you have to disable it through Xbox Live, I'm sure I read the the cross play was handled like Apex..

Played some more this morning. Did a bit more fiddling, got the performance to be a bit better but it's still massively CPU throttled (Ryzen 2600X) according to the ingame data. I definitely enjoyed it more today though. Hopefully they can make some tweaks on their end but as of right now I can't imagine paying for it once the trial ends.

Finally got on this morning and it's really rough on PC. I was getting ever so slightly better performance than Beta, and I definitely had some fun, but the FPS is still all over the place (drops to sub-40 constantly, and plenty of hitching). Does appear to be the CPU bottlenecking that's the main issue, and my aging i7 is being underutilized as well (sitting usually around 70-75% load). Sounds like console is the way to play this atm, which is apparently far more stable.
Also doesn't help that the servers are getting pounded currently. Had multiple disconnects and a few hard crashes as well.

It's dogshit on Series X as well. Currently receiving error codes and when you do get into a game there's rubber banding and occasional freezes.
Also very annoying that you can't disable cross play within the game itself just like you could in the beta, apparently this is still an option on PS5 and I would of picked it up on PSN if I'd of known. Allowed for much smoother games when it was against fellow Xbox players.
Those specialists as well. Dreadful.
Not sure if the events within the maps are supposed to constant but the games I've played so far feels like there's always a storm going on which seems a bit OTT

I thought BFV was a mess at launch but this is worse even by Dice standards. The UI is woeful, the maps are far too big even for 128 players, the gun play is just plain random, specialists are just plain cash grab and the game is just Mish mash of other popular games. It's sorry mess at the moment.
It's pretty damning that Portal and the old maps is the only part worth playing.

This isn’t a patch on BFV at the moment. Pretty dreadful stuff.

I've been playing the bad company 2 portal games and keep getting killed by lmgs from a roos the map, through terrain. Is this a bug or am I just shit? (or both)

Fucking hell I can’t believe what a mess this is. The UI is piss poor, the maps are bland and look shit. The gun play just feels wrong. I think the free 10 hours are going to turn a lot of players away.

I'm still having a great time with this - enjoying the usual BF chaos. However I did just have my first bug - I was walking along and suddenly my head detached from my shoulders and despite still being in first-person view I was following the rest of my body by a few feet. Weird.

Definitely a bit of a mess, the UI is an absolute abomination with buttons doing entirely different things depending on what particular stage or screen of the options you're on.. Woeful.
I've had fun to a point, but what I don't like is you have zero chance of influencing the match alone and winning or just capturing a point is entirely dependant on what your team mates decide to do.
What put people off the Battlefield series I think was that high barrier of entry, the core of the game was always brilliant. They just had to streamline what was there and make it easy to follow. I don't think 128 players and specialists was the answer or what anyone wanted outside the live service department at EA.

I presume at some point they’ll spin Portal off as it’s own thing with a monthly subscription and slowly add back in all the old maps, vehicles and weapons? Because all the internet really wants is old battlefield…

Yeah, I think the changes they have made have probably made conquest more hardcore and more focused on squad play. Without interacting with you’re squad you’re going to have a pretty lonely and miserable time. I don’t know whether the design is intentional or not, but I’m finding I’m interacting with my squad (and them with me) more than previous titles. The expansive maps promotes squad play in that without it you just be running across empty stretches of emptiness. I’m finding that I use a lot of tactics I use more in rush, like finding a quiet spot to hide to allow my squad to respawn far more frequently in this than previous conquests. You lose a lot of gains if you treat it like older conquests. I’m actually rather enjoying it so far. I think the changes they have brought with the 128 players and specialists is going to take a while for people to get accustomed too. Once you figure out to settle in for the fight in a sector or hotspot it’s a far more enjoyable experience. Seeing several squads go at each other is pretty spectacular and make for some great shoot outs and battlefield moments. I think far more people will warm to it in a few weeks when people start to get a feel for it. Calling in transport is great as well, means you can hop in and make a quick dash to another objective if need be.

Well, the game pass trial has saved me 50 quid. It's probably true there's a decent game in here but fuck me it is NOT ready for release at all.
Right out of the gate on ultra settings it looks terrible. Despite being artistically quite clean, it just looks noisy as fuck. The movement just feels bad, this many games in frostbite and you still get caught on all sorts of random shit and can't move. The aiming on mouse must be actually broken, it feels like I'm aiming in treacle.
Also 3 matches in a row I've joined and nobody in the server could spawn. Absolute mess.

Several hours and levels in now and it’s starting to gel. Weapon and vehicle unlocks, map memory etc. It is Battlefield and players on the whole are playing it ‘properly’ with revives and ammo crates etc. Specialists are definitely just tacked on though. Each on is a base class and you can set a load out for each class but you can also just swap the load out. At the moment I just stick with Falck with an ammo crate. Players always shit themselves when I shoot them with the heal gun! It’s ok fair to good, as Paul Daniels would say, ‘You’ll like this, not a lot, but you’ll like it.’ I’m hungry to unlock more stuff. I want the land mines!

Just played a game of Breakthough on XSX that ran at a consistent 15-20fps any time more than a handful of players were on screen.
The aiming Is completely broken too. Using a battle rifle with a scope you can see the bullets wildly veering off left and right of a target like it’s a shotgun. It’s mad.

In fairness when it's finished in a year's time it'll probably be quite good.

Takes 4 million hits to take one out, but they can kill you in a few. I'm enjoying the BC2 maps a lot, but there's quite a few bugs. The hit detection seems a bit off, and the red dot sight doesn't work for the engineer gun. Also. I hate the fact we have to play with PC players and their KB&M (and probably some cheaters too). I can turn it off in the Xbox settings but then it's hard to find a full server.

This game is a mess at the moment, I'll probably pick it up in a year once it's fixed.

Are people venturing into Breakthrough on purpose or by accident? It's fucking unplayable. Even when it's working, enjoy just getting farmed by vehicles and snipers for 30 minutes.

The "bullets go out of your gun and 45 degree angles because you're moving" mechanic is straight up the most garbage video game idea of all time.

I’ve sank about 15-20 hours into it on PC and I was going to write a longer post about it, but I honestly just can’t be arsed. I did have some fun, no doubt, but this is going to need an absolute fuck ton of work over the next 6 months to a year. Insane bullet spread, appalling hit detection, server lag, atrocious PC performance, and general bugginess; and that’s not even to mention some of the really questionable design choices.
I really hope they’ve got a Hail Mary patch ready for day 1 of actual release, or else the Steam reviews are going to be a joy to behold lol

It's honestly one of the worst feeling FPS game I've ever played on PC. It's dreadful. Weird as I liked how BFV felt even if I didn't like the game. If this felt like BFV but with the content they have it'd be fine.

Putting aside the completely wonky aiming / hit detection, the laggy as fuck servers, the raft of bugs, glitches and missing features for a minute, the 128 players is just such a needless box ticking exercise.
Every game sees you trekking across miles of stupidly sized and barren maps, whilst dealing with 50 hidden snipers, 300 hovercraft, 30 helicopters, tanks, homing grenades, wall hacks, turrets, drones. It’s basically just pot luck as to whether your endless running will actually get you somewhere in the end.
Game is bad.
