Same here. Basically give me Vice City with a high and stable framerate, leave the soundtrack untouched (I hope there won't be any license issues) and you can have my money.

Chinatown Wars was my next favourite after Vice City, I’d play a new version of that Same, really liked that game. I think it being on the DS meant loads of people missed out on it which is a shame as it was great.

Really intrigued by these, thought the PS2 trilogy were all incredible but buying the remasters on PS4 a few years back, they're barely playable really (for me anyway). If they've added modern systems, which they say they have, and it's things like over the shoulder aiming and not relying on that lock on system then these could be spectacular.
I think GTA3 from memory didn't even let you control the camera with the right stick, so I assume that's been fixed!

Just had a panic attack thinking about some of the missions.
Demolition Man from GTA 3 immediately springs to mind.

I bought the mobile version of Vice City on a whim a while back. The nostalgia was strong at first, but a 30 minute revisit for old times sake was enough.
If they get the music license, I wouldn't mind having Vice City stations in GTA Online though...

Having to go to a specific point on the map to restart a mission (after botching it) was really annoying. Also, waking up (after being killed) in front of hospital stripped of all your weapons. Thanks but no, thanks. BTW I recently tried to replay VC and SA (Steam versions) with some visual mods applied and barely made it to one half of each. Boredom is strong with these ones. Personally I prefer the Saints Row franchise (especially 2 and 3) for a fun experience.

Thant's why you quit and load your last save when you fail a mission. Nobody continues after failing a mission in a GTA game, there's no advantage at all.

I think it was released on PSP too, IIRC Just had a quick look at the wiki and you're right - it came out on DS, PSP and Android/iOS. It's also apparently got the highest Metacritic score for any DS game (including first party stuff), didn't realise how well it reviewed.

I'm confused. "Original Trilogy"? Did they fucking forget the series didn't start with GTA3? I'd only play Vice City again out of these 3. San Andreas in particular was pish. That's not GTA, GTA 2 and GTA London. Exactly this. Remake these and we're talking! It’s only the title of this thread that mentions the word original, the trailer just says gta trilogy which is what this is

I hope they have the original music. No point playing Vice City if we can't ride motorbikes up the beach in the dark to Broken Wings. Same but riding a motorbike through redneck country to ‘runnin down a dream’ and then ‘slow ride’. (San An had the best soundtrack)

If the job is up to snuff then £20 each is semi reasonable. I don't hold out a lot of hope though

Expecting much more than a quick bit of spit & polish for that price.

I was hoping more like 20 quid for all three. Even that seems a bit much.
Especially as they destroyed a load of mods because they didn't want any perceived competition. That's what irked me the most. And I'm somebody who has bought remakes / HD upscales in the past l.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with this as I've always had a soft spot for GTA 3.
For me GTA 3 was effectively the opening intro for GTA 2 which was frickin awesome at the time on PC!!

No surprised, but it'll need to be better than a slight polish for full price. Even then, more likely I'd pay whatever it's reduced to in the sales a year after release.

Just a heads up, at some point this week the existing console versions of III, Vice City and San Andreas will be pulled from all digital storefronts:
From TrueTrophies:
The Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has finally been announced by Rockstar. It includes updated editions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. However, all three PS2 classics will be delisted from the PlayStation Store next week. For us lot on PlayStation this is going to result in Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are being delisted in all of their digital editions. This includes the PS3 versions, as well as the PS2 Classics that were remastered mid-PS4 lifecycle and are only available digitally. If you want those older trophy lists but haven't bought the games yet, then off you pop to the PSN right now!
I think us Xbox povvos only have to worry about San Andreas.

I did a run of SA on PS2 not long ago. The main thing missing for me was the lack of GPS navigation which had really begun to be a problem with that game. Also the gunplay was wank. TBH you've got to imagine they'd redo some of the textures because at 4k they're going to look REALLY ropey.
If it is just a port of the existing mobile/PC game for £60 then they can fuck right off.

Yeah, they can fuck off with that price. I can only imagine the 'next gen' GTA 5 will be a full priced game too. Fucking pisstakers.

They may be piss takers but at least they pump their insane revenue back into their software, like those single player expansions for GTA5 or the PS Pro / One X patches last gen, or the inevitably free next gen version upgrades.
Why is it the more a company earns off consumers the more they try to fuck them?

TBF they did provide expansions, just online ones, again to maximize their profits in microtransactions. They do offer a lot content for their single player games, I give them that. But where expansions are concerned, single player isn't a thing now once they realised how much money they could make and how people keep buying the fucking game 3 gens later.

I think that "news" article is a bit clickbaity, to be honest. Base.com is notorious for putting up pre-order listings way too early - God of War Ragnarok, anyone? - and as the release date (December 31) and the "artwork" are both obvious placeholders, no reason to assume the price is anything but.

Maybe but I'm inclined to believe Take 2 aren't going to release a budget game.

Oh, it's certainly a possibility, and I wouldn't give Strauss Zelnick the benefit of the doubt if my life depended on it. I just think True Achievements and Push Square need more data than Base.com listings, based upon past experiences with said company, that's all.

That's why I added the "seems to be" rather than "is". Not getting at you, mate, and sorry if that wasn't clear. My comment was directed at True Achievements (and Push Square, who ran the exact same article).

San Andreas one of my favourite games of all time, so as others said, I'd have no problem dropping full price on a PS4/5 gen remake.
But for this, nah. Already played SA on 3 consoles, and have the trilogy set on xbox.
