Leah Williamson out of the world cup with an ACL injury, Arsenal now have their three best players out with an ACL injury.
The amount of top players out with an ACL injury is getting ridiculous.

So women’s football, after decades of under/no investment is making great strides, but still playing catch up to the juggernaught that is the men’s game - needs financial support in order to get the exposure that will help balance out the injustice of the previous century…
…governed by Fifa, a ‘non profit’ (glol) organisation that exists for the good of the game. Ahem. That generates more money than it knows what to do with (maybe, have they stopped all the pilfering yet?), and sitting on a pile of money…
…and they’re suggesting the TV companies are the bad guys?!
Today Gianni, I am astounded - but not surprised. Not one bit.

FIFA and the FA had been actively working against Women's football since year dot, the progress that has been made has had to be fought for every step of the way, and now in recent years they've sniffed there's money to be made so they're suddenly supportive.
Anyway, Fran Kirby is another England player out of the World Cup with a knee injury, massive shame as she's looked great the past few seasons and our squad is losing more and more depth.

Good idea by Tottenham to turn the men’s and women’s matches into a double header (one ticket gets you both matches)
Tottenham women are pants though and will need the help

Newcastle won the Women’s National League Division One North title yesterday. Promotion in their first proper season since officially joining Newcastle United and not just being an independent affiliate.
You can really see the difference since Staveley took over. Moving from the university sports fields to ground sharing with Newcastle Falcons rugby club, coaching staff all becoming full time, players now getting paid, attendances to rival WSL and Championship sides, regular record breaking games at St James Park.
Obviously you could point to it being financial doping, it definitely is, although at this amateur level literally any money would make an enormous difference, but its exciting to see the region establishing a third big club after Durham (who’ve hit their ceiling in the Championship with Premier League resources to back them) and Sunderland (still recovering after Elis Short almost put them out of business). They’re still a couple of promotions behind the others but they’ll be *the* club in the region in no time, especially in terms of hoovering up any emerging talent. Considering how many England players came through at Sunderland before it was crippled having a new regional hub for the next generation should be very exciting over the coming decade or so.
Although it is a pity Durham will end up being left behind when there are so few top independent sides left in the women’s game.

Is it me or does it seem like a not seem like a very good idea to have a brick wall a few feet from the touchline. No idea what ground this Liverpool/Man United is being payed at but I'd much rather get pushed into some advertiser hoardings than a 3ft high brick wall.

Its completely beside the point but why insist they not shave? I can’t think of any reason. Completely unrelated but it reminded me of the time the GB women speed cycling team were told they couldn’t shave or wax as the friction from smooth skin, lycra and saddle was causing burns, which didn’t sound fun. I suspect that was not the reason in this case.

I know a couple of people involved with the club and I'm really happy they can get a proper career out of doing what they love now. Still weird that Newcastle would probably not have a proper women's team now without having human rights abusing, misogynistic, murderous owners.
I'm surprised none of the oil money clubs haven't tried to buy the whole of Barcelona's Women's team.

Like I said in the other thread this would be madness for United to entertain unless they’re willing to make her the female equivalent of a £100m+ player.

Arsenal almost getting knocked out in a champions league qualifier against budget Paris, an injury time equaliser has forced extra time.

Eep
No favours done for the big leagues for qualifying like the Men's game
Some of my friends were hoping to travel down and see Arsenal play at the Emirates in the Champions League this season, that's knocked that on the head.

Durham humped 9-1 away to Palace today.
A freak result in terms of the score itself but you can definitely see the difference money is making between the independent and men’s club affiliated sides now. Durham have been a solid presence in the second tier for years but they’ll probably never stand a chance at contesting for promotion again.

That is absolute insane and disgraceful. If they’re forced onto the pitch I hope they throw the game spectacularly.
Can they not all retire? Plenty of men withdraw from national squads and Hegerberg ruled herself out of playing for Norway.
If its a threat of legal action it’d be good to see some of the notable good guys like Juan Mata back them since the women’s players probably aren’t wealthy enough to fight the Federation’s lawyers themselves.
World Champions. They should be riding open topped buses through the centre of Madrid not being shamed like this.
