I eventually watched Breaking Bad a year or so ago. Was good, but super overrated. In contrast: I'm rewatching it now, and enjoying it even more second time around.

I loved Breaking Bad but that first series was pretty hard to get through, just really grim. I know a lot of people gave up because of it.

Breaking Bad, or the spin offs Game of Thrones Sopranos 24 Curb Your Enthusiasm Loads of shit I’ve never seen 'toof, The Sopranos is the one to prioritise out of that. It's still sensational.

I've never seen Apollo 13, but don't really see the point in watching it without having seen the other twelve first... Chef's 😘 lol Have to add Top Gun to my list it turns out. The Exorcist also springs to mind. As for Blade runner 2049... Quite a recent release and therefore forgivable and while culturally mainstream still pretty niche. Still, shocking and appaling. Be ashamed. Top Gun is horrendous, just endless cringe. However, Godfather 1 and II are utterly incredible films.

I’ve been meaning to try sopranos, just keep forgetting. It’s the only one on my list that temps me in any case

Quite a few popularish shows I've never watched.
Never watched Sopranos, Line of Duty, 30 Rock, True Blood, Handmaid's Tale, True Detective, Ted Lasso, Peaky Blinders... Many more

I've seen Line of Duty. First couple of seasons were good, but after that it was just the same plot over and over again. Meh.

I don't know. Pitch Perfect is good fun and worth a watch. And I'm not sure why you would pick Superman 4 as the one to watch. 1 and 2 are classics and still great. I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I was taken to the cinema when I must have been about five years old. It must have left a lasting impression as I never felt like watching another Superman film since. Come to think of it there’s a metric fuck-tonne of Bond movies I’ve never seen and probably never will too.

I haven't watched Chinatown or The Two Jakes. Saw an advert for Chinatown on Prime Video so may watch it this weekend.

Also haven't seen One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. Maybe I subconsciously hate Jack Nicholson.

I'd never watched a Harry Potter film until this year.
They're not as shit as I thought they would be.

The sexual politics are well out if date. It doesn't help that Ken Kesey hated women, even if they toned the novel down.

I wouldn't use an Empire list to judge what films you absolutely have to watch either. That's like asking Paul Ross for his top picks.
I would say Sight and Sound's list but that depends on how much you like staring at the inside of your own arsehole.

I just thought it was bloody awful, and I hated every single character in it. Hmm I don 't remember it being that bad? In fact it felt more like a very dark comedy in the first couple of seasons, as opposed to the gritty drama it becomes by the end. Then again, I did watch it after it had finished and everyone was going on about how good it was (and it did live up to the hype imo).

Me and the wife watched it after everyone telling us how great it was and neither of us liked it. Which was quite a surprise tbh. After three or four episodes we binned it. It was just incredibly depressing.

Yeah I'm assuming it picks up but starting with getting rid of a guy (who was a piece of shit) in a bath of acid while his mate sees his remains leak and then crash through the ceiling is a tough way to start a show. That put me off.

I can't think of many better ways tbh, I laughed at that bit. It's pure dark comedy.

I've seen Line of Duty. First couple of seasons were good, but after that it was just the same plot over and over again. Meh. 1 to 3 were up there with the best british crime drama ever. It fully jumped the shark from then on. I couldn’t believe how shit the last one was.

Line of Duty went right up its own backside. Shame. The two series Keeley Hawes were in was some of the best telly I have seen though.

I thought Breaking Bad was pretty funny, more so in the early series but even at the end there was a streak of black humour. I loved it.
The acid bath bit was a genuine lol for me. Grim, for sure, but I revel in that kind of grim humour.

Well I’m just glad everyone here has seen The Wire. On the other hand, I used to enjoy telling my colleagues in the DVD and Video section of HMV that I’d never seen the Godfather when it was a massive seller when it came out as a box set one Christmas.

There's TONS of TV I've not seen, because I don't have Sky, and because nowadays who has the time?
As far as film goes, there's likewise loads, but I feel like the big gaps in my knowledge are older films. I've not seen a lot of Hitchcock, Chaplin, classical musicals, etc. People assume because I'm a pretty big film fan I should have seen everything.
My dad is constantly disappointed in me for not having seen several of the big Eastwood westerns, though. He even bought me Josey Wales a few years ago on DVD and I've just not got round to it. It's three hours, I can't put it on in front of the kids, and and my wife won't wanna watch it, so when am I gonna find the time?!
