Stealth games are a weird one to fully open world. Getting from map marker to map marker while constantly in fear of being spotted sounds like a fucking massive chore. MGSV countered this by having fuck all between outposts which made the world largely pointless other than direction of approach and some of the more expansive missions.
Maybe if they made the explorey bits Hitman-like so you could hide in plain sight through disguise, and have the inevitable bases/outposts your classic Splinter Cell stuff it might work.

Given how Ubisoft just share ideas between their games, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a reskinned Ghost Recon Wildlands, but with a bit more stealth.

We all know that it will be packed with booster packs, skins and that new NFT bullshit. Sigh.

My fears exactly, and I actually enjoyed Wildlands for what it was (although I still think the open-world format harmed the game more than it helped, at least from a single-player standpoint).

Linear experience and a remake of the original has got me pretty hard, I must say.

The old one's still play well now and the graphics still stand up, I'd love a remake of the first one. Clearly they have been listening to me. I am important after all.

I wouldn't worry too much, there's always the possibility that this ends up on the same schedule as Beyond Good and Evil 2 and the remake of Sands of Time, you may be dead of old age before Splinter Cell is released.
I guess Assassin's Creed makes enough money to carry everything on it's back because it's a marvel to me that Ubisoft are still around these days, especially with most of their output being even more of a waste of time than usual for video games.

Is BGE2 still a thing?

Doubtful with the delays and Michel gone.

30+ members of staff working on the remake have been let go. This is going to be another Ubisoft remake cock up isn't it.

I was working under the assumption that it had been quietly cancelled, to be honest.

You gotta wonder if at some point Ubisoft will actually manage to release one of their remakes.

Remake has apparently been delayed for being in a bad state.

We don't know that for sure, if it's the same reddit post it's just some Brazilian YouTube channel that no one knows shit about. I'm pretty sure every video game developed ever goes through issues.
