Ah man, I'd love a new Splinter Cell. Fingers crossed. It's a total ball ache getting the original to play well on modern PCs these days.

Openworld hopefully. Be cool if there was like bases to clear to unlock parts if the map too.

Even better if they can fill every square inch of the world map with brightly-coloured icons, such that anyone who looks at it for more than a few seconds gets an instantaneous migraine.

If I'm trying to think of ways they could ruin it, it would be making it open world and having a multiplayer campaign BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH FRIENDS. But seriously I just want a single player campaign with some big levels to Chaos Theory like shit. Actually just give me a next gen remake of Chaos Theory.

Christ not open world. It's totally going to be now you've said it, isn't it. Gah.
+1 to the large individual levels.

It must be about 20 years since Ubisoft have made anything resembling a focused linear single player game isn't it? I'd be amazed if they don't try to shoehorn all of their usual shit into it.

It'll be open world multiplayer because it's Ubisoft and there's no ongoing microtransaction money in single player games.

I can see them introduce levelling up and purchasing skills. Just to piss me off.

For just 1378 SFP (Sam Fisher Points) you too can unlock ... night vision goggles!

It's about time Splinter Cell got some radio towers to climb, who wants the map just there? Crafting and base building elements and DLC for every single piece of equipment please. Just getting stuff you can use is boring. They need to get with the times so most of the game is Sam Fisher pranking guards and uploading their reactions to Tick Tock.

Stop it you lot.... I get the point but... ahhh.... reverse psychology it is then.
Yeah, c'mon UBI fill that map with vapid tasks, collectables and give us more gun options and custom paint jobs than we could ever hope for.

This is brilliant news, but as per the discussion above, so much potential for them to fuck it up. I don't want open world. Or maybe, to clarify, some form of pseudo open world is okay so long as missions themselves are carefully designed.
I'd really rather have something like the structure of Blacklist. Not going to happen, though is it?
Also: spies vs. mercenaries please! Separate PvP.

I'm struggling to think of recent AAA games that aren't open world or online multiplayer/live service. I think you guys wanting a single player campaign might have to take the hurt for a few years.
With Tenchu and Metal Gear already moribund it's left a noticeable gap that some new IPs will eventually fill so even if Splinter Cell gets totally Ubigamed, something else will come along. There's already that shadow ninja game Aragami that's had a sequel mid-tier publishers will come to the rescue eventually.

The main focus will be on the action with token gestures of stealth, like ass creed with guns.
They play everything so safe now and sell shit loads so that's the Splinter Cell we'll get.

The old one's still play well now and the graphics still stand up, I'd love a remake of the first one.

I reckon Blacklist is the best Splinter Cell. I think they really nailed the “play it your way” aspect with it. Even today, I would still happily jump into those “Charlie’s Missions” for some deadly, fast stealth Pac-Man. Under-appreciated game, in my impeccable opinion.

I'll just say that Splinter Cell 1 was the best one. Chaos Theory, as acclaimed as it was, made you a bit too overpowered.

I tried going back to Splinter Cell, as in the original and it was jarring in terms of QoL. Chaos Theory really was the peak for the options available to you while being purely stealth, I don't really agree with the aggressiveness you can use with Blacklist, it's a great game but I love that vulnerability that Chaos Theory has while giving you all the tools you need. The original now just feels clunky.

Hopefully will be great, also although not Ubi how about a new Syphon Filter game...we can pretend the PS2 version never was. As with SC, I loved the original trilogy.
