Yeah that's the one. They're a bit more expensive than I'd like to spend on a single base layer but they're so effective it's hard to argue against it.

did 32 miles this morning, basically cycled from Bristol to Bath again, and pottered around back in Bristol. Did get a bacon sandwich and coffee in Bath. There's Greggs closer but it did feel like I'd earned it.

You should try out the two tunnels, good fun. Going to try the route again next week but take a diversion on my way back and go through Pucklechurch and Westerleigh. Should make it a 40 mile trip Edit: Is there a FontGeek Strava group?

There’s an EG group. Perhaps the admin can update the details (if Strava permits)

I'm probably just cycling to Bath again next weekend as I want to go to the Whisky shop in Bath, as it's my birthday soon. I'll give those routes a try soon. Kind of want to ride to the Chew Valley lake soon too. I've said soon too many times.

First ride since October, simultaneously awful and life-affirming. Didn’t realise how much I need it

How cold? I know you're nice & south, so warmer than up here.
Bit early in the year for me yet, maybe by march! 😀

It was a perky 0.7c according to the Garmin of truth today, certainly felt it. Reasonably dry at least, been so wet here for as long as I can remember. I definitely needed the break from it feeling more like myself after that and fired up to get some form back now

Glad to hear it. Just slogging away in the spare room on the tour de Zwift for me just now.
Although, touch wood, I am back doing a 5km run per week on a nice crisp morning if possible since my morton's neuroma seems to have calmed down (dear) again.

Still not able to train. Longest period I've been unable to do so since my major crash. Sigh.

I’ve been running lately, can’t do indoor cycling. Needed to shift some of the isolation/Christmas excess weight, I looked in the mirror New Year’s Eve and just shook my head, felt like rock bottom. I’ve had to start stretching my hip lately as this sciatica/piriformis ache doesn’t go away, getting older is very overrated

Been out the last 4 days, hasn’t been quick and only some 150k but I’ll take that after 3 months off. Plus a 5k run Monday, I’ll have tomorrow off for recovery. Feeling good about it again, finally

Looking for opinions on what bikes I should buy to get into cycling. Live in Hampshire (Test Valley) and we're fortunate to have plenty of nice countryside roads around us to explore. With that in mind, currently assuming that a Gravel bike is the way to go so we can do some light offroading on bridle ways in the summer, but also so I can attempt to keep up with some road bike owning friends on the tarmac as well.
Budget is £3k for two bikes (one for me and one for the gf). At present, I'm thinking I'll go for a Boardman ADV 8.9 from Tredz for me whenever back in stock (apparently Feb/March). It reviews well and is supposedly exceptional value, but I've also seen some people moan about the quality of Boardman bikes?
Unsure what to get the GF, she's slightly too short for the smallest frame size of the same bike. There's a women's version of the model below (8.6) but not sure how much quality that sacrifices? Struggling to find other good options.
We don't need the bikes until summer so happy to wait a fair while, but don't want to get ripped off and don't want to miss out altogether. As I know very little about cycling and the market I'm concerned about both!
Any advice appreciated.

I reckon a gravel bike will do you fine. If it were me and I were limited to one bike I'd probably go with a Sonder Camino as a do-it-all, plus you could get an extra wheelset within your budget to have a set of slick road tyres on one set and something more offroad-y fitted ready to go on the other. His n hers Caminos seem entirely doable.
I have a bike mechanic mate who is consistently rude about Boardman bikes, but he's naturally grumpy so I'm sure they are largely fine if you'd rather go that way.
Keep in mind any other kit you need beyond the bike (helmets/lights/shoes/waterproofs/padded shorts etc) as that shit adds up quick if you need to get it all within the budget you have set.
And i'm near Winchester if you need any route suggestions- loads of really nice riding between New Forest/Romsey/Winchester/South Downs.
