This popped up in my Youtube feed yesterday. Can't get it out of my head (and I don't even like the original).

Peter Hook joined the Mark Lanegan Band for this. They also did Atmosphere. My sister has a picture of me grinning like a loon.

Not a massive Radiohead fan, but this is a decent cover. The New Order version I guess is also a cover but that could be pushing it.

Great to see some love for Mark Lanegan in here.
This is a decent cover of a great Elliott Smith song.

Love a bit of Mark Lanegan. His duet stuff with Isobel Campbell is great.

I loved Chris Cornell's cover of Nothing Compares 2 U when he originally did it (which was before Prince died). When Chris died it kinda got over-played/hyped and took the gloss off a bit for me, but replaying now it's fucking great.
It's the version he did with his daughter that fucking gets to me every damn time.

This guy makes a lot of metal covers of whatever songs you can think of.
Predictably not all of them are equally good, but this one really gave me goosebumps.
Whenever he teams up with Rabea (guitar) and Hannah (singer) it's magic.

Hurt by Johnny Cash is the best cover ever, but I think that's been mentioned already. These are probably repeats, but I haven't gone through the whole thread yet: Rage Against the Machine's cover of Renagades of Funk: original here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1l3XJgAkqsand from the same album, their cover of Springsteen's The Ghost of Tom Joad: original: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi0kWe2ixzUthere's another totally different cover version that I can't remember the band for and it's driving me nuts. [edit] Remembered it, thank fuck! Hounds of Love by the Futureheads: i can stop going crazy now.

Also for epically long cover versions: Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by Santa Esmerelda: Isn't that from the Kill Bill soundtrack? That movie has such a cool soundtrack. This popped up in my Youtube feed yesterday. Can't get it out of my head (and I don't even like the original). That channel is a bit of a gold mine of catchy covers, though I can't shake the sense that they're not taking things entirely seriously. Ednaswap acoustic version of Torn: Plot twist! They're the original artists, so I guess that makes *this* the second best cover version ever:

Soulwax do Blue Monday for 20 minutes. Don't know if it counts as a cover, but it is brilliant.

NanocrystalI went through a bit of a phase of listening to string quartet covers years ago - Balanescu Quartet's Kraftwerk covers are pretty great

A Perfect Circle covering Joni Mitchell.
I did just now realize that this one here is actually a cover. Originally Rammstein.

Half way down page 2 before you got to the Hendrix cover of Watchtower? What is wrong with you people?
Anyway - a couple of cool ones. Leonard Cohen's "Everybody Knows" seems to be one of those songs that it's difficult to mess up, but this is my favourite...
Also, Cowboy Junkies' cover of VU's Sweet Jane from their debut album 'The Trinity Sessions', which every right minded soul should own.
