I've just turned into a right softie with stuff instead. Interstellar I was ugly crying at the end, first time I watched it was when I was up late feeding my daughter. Really got to me. Endgame I love you 3000 turned me into a blubbering mess. luckily the cinema is dark and every other dad in there was the same.

I tend not to cry at child-related peril stuff, because I don't have kids and quite frankly I mostly hate other people's children.
However, anything with people being selfless and sacrificing themselves, I'm in bits.

It's the card reading bit in Evil Dead that I love. Fucking brilliant.

Two scenes that've stayed with me recently are that scene from Bone Tomahawk, and also the "tent scene" in The Endless, due to its horrendous implications.

A couple more just came to me
The end of Scanners where their veins start popping out on their faces and bleed and the puppet scene from The Dream Warriors (also veiny)

Shit yes! The Endless tent scene was the freakiest part of the film by far.

Well way to spoil it for everyone. I thought it was pretty good. We're not talking Mordum levels of distasteful shite. It's well made and won various awards. There isn't really anything to spoil. It's obvious from very early on that it's abuse. The only reason I kept watching was because of the watching it blind recommendation, expecting there to be some kind of twist or something to alter my perspective on it. There isn't. It's not even a horror film, it's just misery. Lots of people have kids on this site. If that's the kind of film you enjoy, that's fine and I'm sure it has merits but it needs a content warning
It's my own poor judgement for trusting someone I don't know online really. I do think it was poor judgement to recommend it in the way you did. Not the end of the world though
I'll edit my post for the sake of spoilers but I'm still going to make it clear what people are getting into
I'm not sure people who don't have kids understand how distressing it is for a lot of parents to watch drama, thriller or horror movies with child violence / death scenes. I was surprised at how much it affected me as soon as I had children. I just don't watch them now as strict rule, I've missed a lot of good films because of it, but I just can't watch them.

On the gruesome end if things, that scene in American History X still turns my stomach.

Society
I'd forgotten but now the memories are back
I think there's a scene where the dad's face is the daughter's arse
Also the scene with the orgy where all the people are stuck together like pizza cheese

That scene in Bone Tomahawk... I think it's the sound of the butchering that's the most harrowing part of it. Must've been a good one to do the foley for.
The Gate used to get me good as a child. The scene with the eyeball in the palm of the hand, and the bit where the dad's face disintegrates in Stephen Dorf's hands.
The bit in Lady Vengeance when the parents are being shown the videos of their kids being killed is definitely one I winced at despite not having any spawn of my own. Big OOF.

On the gruesome end if things, that scene in American History X still turns my stomach. Yeah. I don't really mind horror movie stuff in general - it's just fantasy. But when it's something that could be real, that's when things are more disturbing (and usually less fun). The bit in Lady Vengeance when the parents are being shown the videos of their kids being killed is definitely one I winced at despite not having any spawn of my own. Big OOF. Nuts. I actually have Lady Vengeance and have had it for a decade, but somehow never gotten around to watching it. When I got it I didn't have kids.. should have watched it earlier.

Speaking of scenes with kids that affect you, the 'hidden camera' part in The Sixth Sense is great. Not really scary, and nothing explicitly horrifying, just a dawning realization and sense of outrage/helplessness. Basically, never go in and watch something *completely* blind - this also applies to many other things on the internet. At the very least, google and read the synopsis first! Except The Cabin in the Woods. Don't read the synopsis or the 'back of the box' description on that one. Don't worry, it's a horror movie, but it's one of the fun kind, not the realistic/disturbing/horrifying kind. If you're ok with Nightmare on Elm Street then there's nothing in it to worry you.

I was actually rewatching that the other day! Great film. I'd forgotten that Chris Hemsworth was in it.

The Endless is excellent. Definitely go in as blind as possible, it’s an absolute trip.

Worth bearing in mind that it should be watched along with Resolution. Resolution came before Endless but it actually works well if you watch them in reverse order.

The Shining had it's moments. The Paranormal Activity films, the early ones at least before the novelty wore off.

I'm obviously desensitised as I really didn't think it was that bad. I've seen a lot worse than that over the years.

I really liked their latest one synchronicity, it’s boring for 40 mins but then it picks up and it’s great.

I found it a real let down, it's not up to the standard of the 2 mentioned imo.
And I loved The Endless and Resolution.

Anthony Mackie Anthony Mackied the shit out of that role. He's just such a safe and boring actor regardless of what he plays.

They also blew the budget on bigger actors and the rest of the film suffered for it.

On the gruesome end if things, that scene in American History X still turns my stomach. Similarly, the genital mutilation scenes in Antichrist are quite something

Not one mention of The Greasy Strangler so far ? Not so much the plot, but just how greasy the sets were. Ugh.
Oh, and that dance number. Equal parts hysterical and unsettling.

Same with Arrival. Pre parenthood I wouldn't have been affected at all.

While I loved the show, there were a few points in Spartacus that were rather stressful viewing. The Decimation in particular, and what happened to Varro's wife. Plus what happened to the Gaul with the very large penis.
