Okay, got him. That was a bit hairy at the end, a typically inelegant performance, no health recharges and me chucking sharp pipes at him to wipe out that final bit of his health bar. I'll take it.

Just started this and did the first boss, it took me one go but I really need to work on my guard timing. It really does have a lot of character going for it.

I'm a bit worried about (very late game spoilers) Nameless Puppet, and my chances of success against him. I was tired, and I had been playing for, well, most of the day, but bloody hell he repeatedly did me over and I didn't really get close. I'm going to have to recharge for a few days and look into strategies for dealing with him |

Done the Town Hall boss and yeah this feels very approachable. It strangely has the feel of what From Soft may have made as opposed to a copy trying to emulate what they do.

FlexibleFeline Regarding your concern, I'm not going to lie, that was the highest challenge I had to overcome beating this game. It took me a lot of time leveling up and trying different strategies and builds to beat it. I think I first met it around level 88 and beat it well over 100 (thanks to the reasonable level-up requirements, it's easier done than said). In the end, it was such a huge relief and frankly I dread doing it again on NG+ for the endings achievement - but it is doable

Had a bit of a day on this. Was out all morning and got soaked. From about 4 onwards the boy was playing with his mates, wife was out and I just sat on my arse playing this as didn’t have the drive for anything else. I’m pretty much converted now. Think what finally sold me was spider doll puppet women followed by an abandoned shopping arcade full of mutant zombies . Basically as soon as things get weird/creepy I’m all in. Think I’ve nearly finished with the aforementioned area. |

While I am enjoying this there is far too much of the ol' ambush setups, usually being an enemy appearing behind you and just absolutely demolishing your health. It feels really cheap.

Not saying the shield isn't good without it, but it did help... |

This is definitely a weak spot of the genre with Demon's Souls setting the trend. It just seems baked in that there should be a certain number of random ambushes per level. See also the new LofF and, well, all of them really. It is indeed annoying. |

I'll plug away and search for appropriate builds, as well as doing more levelling - I think I'm level 80 or so right now. I just respecced to maximise acid damage for the previous two bosses (with Advance pushed up to 40; I already had a maxed acid crystal spear - not my favourite weapon but it melts health bars once the status takes effect). I suppose I have enough coins to experiment a bit too - I think I've got about 70 right now. I don't think I'll be doing NG+, not after the horror stories I've heard  |

What's a good late game area for efficient levelling? I was using the Collapsed Street Stargazer due to the number of cane puppets who could be easily staggered and finished off. But I guess there's somewhere better now in Arche Abbey?

FlexibleFeline I used this spot, found a route/strategy I felt comfortable with (not exactly as in that video) and enjoyed watching them fight each other and then pick up what's left (late game spoilers warning):
It is not that quick but quite dynamic to not bore you to tears and, apart from raw ergo, they also drop ergo items. One go will grand you around 5000+ raw ergo, so it's about 3 goes for 1 level-up.

The most annoying thing is that they are so overused they become predictable but they still get you anyway, so you feel like an idiot. There’s one right at the end of the game where you see an item on a ledge that is so obviously a trap I actually laughed when someone popped from behind a box and knocked me all the way to the bottom of the tower. |

Fwiw, if you’re struggling with nameless puppet, either level up the cattle prod or use electric grindstones when the second phase starts.
After a few goes you should be able to do the first phase pretty easily so just pop electric when he’s down, spam puppet string until he’s shocked and whale on him. Down a few legion canisters and repeat until dead.

I was thinking about the Trident - I only used it occasionally but it's the one boss weapon I've maxed out.

If you’ve picked up the assassin amulet, it gives you 25% extra crit damage and the trident gives you like 30% extra crit chance so you can absolutely batter him when you get an opening.

That bloody swamp monster was a bit of a pain in the arse. Finally got him sixth or seventh try. That second phase was relentless. Finally realised I should be parrying that stupidly long charge. That helped.
