I mean perfect guard. I always forget to use the block fable art.

Just to check, when people are talking about parrying are you talking about the ability of a weapon handle that normally costs a fable charge (don't know if all weapons have it) that lets you counter an attack or are we talking about perfect guards? I've been meaning the fable arts, hence why mentioning the resource cost. Looking up on tips for doing those, I see a lot of people referring to perfect guards as parrys. If the final boss is going to require perfect use of fable art abilities then that is going to be a problem for me! Should be good if it is just perfect guards though.lol. My sense of impending hubris is growing.

May be different for you but I found it incredibly difficult and by far the hardest fight in the game. By FAR.

I struggled with timing perfect parry so I got a lot of milage out of the shield arm. Its really useful for bosses and field bosses. I ran with it most of the game until I fully upgraded puppet string.
If youre piling into capacity and use the right amulets to regen mana, you can spam it all the time towards the end of the game.

Corrupted Parade Boss is an absolute nightmare. He’s down. Had to get good for that. Complete bullshit.

Also down for me. Took me many, many attempts, but I actually didn't find him too bad. Always felt doable and my losses were clearly due to my own errors rather than some bullshit move or getting stuck somewhere.
Main concern was his decay attacks and the limited number of the WKD Blue purification thing. With no shop to restock from, I definitely thought that would be a problem. I did run out, but it turned out when I didn't have any recovery to fall back on I was able to avoid the attacks without too much problem.
Looking at my weapon stats, I noticed that my twin dragon blade, with its S ranking in the dex stat, is actually giving me less of a bonus then my curved sword with A in dex and D in strength (only by 1 point of damage). That can't be right can it? Don't think I've put anything in my strength stat and I'm about 32 for my dex. Each point in dex only seems to give me a 2 or 3 points of damage.

With that small of a difference it could be that base Str is just enough to put it over, even with the lesser Dex scaling
(Assuming of course they're at the same upgrade level, I think that may matter too)

I thought it must be considering the amount of damage I’m going! Fun run back too!

Take the big guys and ballistas out, as they don’t respawn and makes the run back a lot easier. It’s a shitty gimmick boss fight, not the game’s best moment, just something to get through.

As ever, right on the heels of harrypalmer and just beaten the Door Guardian. Bizarre fight. Was banging my head against the brick wall of it for quite a while.
I had seen on here already that it was a gimmick fight, so I just looked it up to see it was about staggering him. Realised early on that you could attack his leg, but was finding it really hard to get any attacks in, so I spend way to long focusing on perfect guarding him. I even went off to find the Spear of Honour weapon that I saw recommended for the fight, but found it completely impossible to get the R2 to land without getting destroyed.
After going back to the perfect guards, I started counting how many guards it was taking to stagger him (my best attempt reached 11 with no stagger, but then I died), I quickly gave up.
Instead, I start running around him and attacking from behind, a strategy that was completely impossible against every other boss. Here though, I did it first time when I started doing that with little effort.
Venturing into the tower now. I went through loads of it, before getting knocked off from a tall open area after going up a lift. Just realised that I managed to miss the shortcut, so not have to go back through a whole load of it again. Must have almost been through it (I was in the area where there are the guys with the disruption sprayers).

Fightin Cowboy never worked out the leg gimmick and so instead spent 20 minutes perfect guarding and dodging every attack to get the stagger, he was quite annoyed but it was impressive!

I looked it up. You do so much less damage than any other boss that I worked out pretty quickly there was a trick to it but by that point I just couldn’t be arsed to work out what it was through trial and error.
It really was an absolutely dumb point to drop the first and only gimmick boss.

It's not great. He also doesn't really look like a gimmick boss, he ain't that big and his attacks are recycled from other enemies.
When the gimmick is run round in circles and hit him in the ankle you know somethings awry. Not exactly a formidable gate keeper. If it were a FromSoft game I suspect they'd be lore up the wazoo for him too.

Yikes the following sections are annoying! Those torso doll ceiling hanging motherfuckers are a pain. As are jesters. And giant baby dolls. Ah fuck it just bung em all in a room and see what happens!

Aye, just been through there and it wasn't great. Ended up just legging through it, once I opened up the path. This final area in general seems to be taking the From Software formula of a half arsed final section.
Reached Laxasia and it is *sigh* another two stage boss battle. I think what I'm finding most frustrating about these battles is that the first phase in a From Software game is normally fairly perfunctory, once you master it. Here though, they still require you to focus and spend a good few minutes battling. Laxasia is particularly annoying in that regard. It is just dodging attacks and getting a couple of hits in whilst she is recovering for about 5 minutes. I almost immediately decided to summon when I had beaten phase 1, so that I could try to rush her down, but that didn't work because the shield on her back made her backside completely protected.
I see online that she is very weak to acid and that does seem to help, but once I get to phase 2 I just seem to have no opening for attacks and I'm just constantly having to dodge her multiple AOE moves. Only really able to get one or two combos in before acid wears off on my blade.

Are either of you using thrown items? They're a legitimate strategy, much more so than in most FromSoft games

Not hugely, other than the occasional cog to lure an enemy. Thinking I probably should use some of the acid throwables for this fight, so I'm not relying on the limited time when applying to my blade (plus, I stupidly didn't take the grindstone upgrade for more charges - may have to respec that).
Also worth noting Harry, for when you do reach this fight, you can break the shield. I've had it happen a couple of times when I haven't really been trying, so not sure how easy it is, but might make summoning viable.
Also also, have I managed to miss the Red Fox fight? I fought the Black Cat and expected to run into her immediately.

Got to her just now. I have a maxed acid greatsword and lots of acid throwables (been using throwables all game, they are OP), may equip the acid arm but I lean heavily on the shield arm. First phase seems somewhat reasonable but she minces the summon, although he did outlast me.

Yeah, first phase isn't too bad. Think it was 3rd attempt that I beat her, as soon as I realised that her recovery time after almost all her moves allowed for 2-3 attacks. It's just slow. By the time I get to the 2nd phase I'm ready to have a break from boss fighting.

Considering you fought Black Cat, that ship has sailed...

I think throwables are pretty much essentiall; you never really feel overpowered in this like in some From games Make sure you’re equipping the best Shock defenses (not disruption here) and if you have two acid charges on your weapon, it helps. I enjoyed phase 1, but the second is proper tough. Thermite, acid throwables all help and you can farm the ergo in Malham with the merchant above. Good luck

Laxisia down second try. Acid sword + acid bombs/shot puts ruin her. Probably the coolest boss so far.

About 2 hours of not really getting anywhere against her last night for me. For most of that, it was fighting first phase and then dying almost immediately on the second phase when she does her opening combo. If I did survive that, I would be down within seconds of her zipping about the place, barely getting any chance to actually learn what moves she had.
By the end of the two hours, things were starting to get a little better. I finally learnt (admittedly, from a video) that you can block her lightning bolts and send them back to her with a perfect guard. I'm still constantly hit by the follow up attack at the start, but I'm at least now able to reliable survive the opening. For the rest of the fight I've started to get a feeling for it and can at least now get her down to about half health fairly regularly. The acid grindstone has also helped me get through the first part a little more quickly, so it isn't quite the slog it had previously been.
If I start chucking in some acid throwables I might be able to do it. I did try them in some earlier attempts, but I was so rarely surviving for any time in the fight that it felt like I was just wasting them.
