Another question, is it worth unlocking every upgrade in each phase? It mentioned something about unlocking synergies if you do but I don't think it actually tells you what they are, unless I'm misunderstanding it
I've just got to the cathedral which looks really nice. Looking forward to getting back to it

It is stagger damage. Do enough of it and it will stagger them, so you can do a crit. It is the type of damage that is done when you get a perfect parry. Everything I've found says that destruction damage and stagger damage are two different things. Perfect parries cause both, true, but they have different outcomes. IIRC they're even displayed as different stats in the game. For instance, the Electric Shock status says it increases "Stagger damage". Decay Status specifies it increases "Destruction damage". I doubt they'd put two different names on the same thing... Ah, yeah. I had to Google it and just made the assumption from the first wiki page I found, which was for the Destruction Grindstone (https://liesofp.wiki.fextralife.com/Destruction+Grindstone). Doesn't seem to be any wiki pages specifically about destruction damage and everything just seems to be speculation. The common belief seems to be either it is the amount of stagger damage or it is the damage done to a weapon in order to break it. Pretty certain your weapon's durability drops with decay damage and you do damage enemy weapons with perfect parties, so I would be fairly certain that destruction damage is the amount of damage you do to weapons. As for unlocking upgrades on the p-organ (always makes me giggle), I didn't do all of them in a phase. I found that there was normally only 1 or 2 that I would be that interested in in each phase, so just wanted to get to the next. Don't recall there being anything about unlocking all of them in a phase, but could be wrong.

Looking forward to getting back to it I don't think there's any reason to unlock absolutely every ability in each phase, just enough to unlock the next phase. You can eventually respec your P-organ anyway so don't get too hung up on it. Just choose broadly useful abilities (pulse cell stuff, belt slots etc) and whatever matches your build

This has gone from good to great. Not just because I've got an umbrella but a bit because of that. I've loved everything from the cathedral onwards- great location, level deign, new enemies and boss. Just got to the Black Rabbit boss. Such a cool intro and fight (haven't beaten them yet) My only complaint is that common enemies pose next to no threat whatsoever. They all stagger so don't require anything beyond repeatedly attacking I don't know how optional the NPC stuff is in this, or if it affects anything important, but I agreed to help Fox and Cat clear out the Black Rabbit turf. First time it was fine, got to the end, they were very impressed. Died against the boss, then on the run back, they complained about me leaving them behind. Is that bugged and is the quest failed now?
Also, when you kill an enemy with a Fatal Attack and they explode- amazing. The parry Fable Arts are also pretty sweet

Aunty Treats IIRC, the fox and the cat will mock you and turn their backs on you at the boss fight even if you agreed to help them. What matters only is to be polite to the brother on a few occasions you meet, so the sister won't fight you at some point ...

I'm always polite. I beat the boss- such a good fight and it was never annoying despite having multiple enemies. The clown was pretty cool as well. The White Lady took forever. Broke her weapon so she could hardly do any damage but just couldn't find openings to stagger her. She actually beat me twice through sheer attrition. Puppet String sorted her out though and now I'm wearing her face

Agreed, the White Lady was a bitch, took me a few goes as well. As for the clown, I was down on health when I met him and ran past him only to find the bonfire by accident, he also took a few goes because I got greedy but had the bonfire to retry.

Good fights, would recommend. And, yeah, also found The White Lady a tricky one, but not too bad when you figure her out. The clown though... That took me quite a few attempts, even though I rushed to the bonfire and fought him in the courtyard rather than the street.

You've reached the final boss? Good luck, he took me far more tries that I'm willing to admit... electricity is your friend, along with parrying

Romeo isn't the final boss. He is the second phase of the King of Puppets. Still plenty to go

Got him finally. That was great. I think calling it a poor man's Bloodborne does the game a disservice. It's a poor man's Sekiro
Just kidding. I actually prefer the setting of this to Sekiro anyway. I may even upgrade it from great to I love it. I've got so many cool weapons now- the clock sword, spear of honour, puppet ripper, umbrella, rapier. Just need more upgrade materials for them all. Hopefully I'm not spreading them too thin. I like that there's so much variety among the tech weapons, from a rapier to greatsword (spear of honour). Means I can change things up without having to respec. Also got the fancy puppet prince costume and a hair cut
Just got to the Grand Exhibition. Glad to be past Romeo, just so I can see more of the game. Still think Geppetto is a creepy weirdo- stop saying 'Always be a good boy for me.' And you're not my real dad!

Managed to get as far as lightning lady. First phase, no problem. Second one is all over the place. Fun deflecting her lightning balls back at her though
Enjoying the story more than I thought I would. There are some pretty interesting characters and decent voice acting

Ah, my nemesis Laxasia (at least, my nemesis until I reached the final boss). She took me a very long time to beat.
If you aren't already using it, acid is very much your friend with that one. Think I used the acid grindstone, but there are also weapons that apply acid. It was also around about that fight that I started to listen to people in this thread and gave throwables a chance (not that I really believed them until I got to the final boss).

IIRC, you may also use the grindstone that revitalises you summon on her second phase, so it draws aggro and leaves her open for your attacks.

I didn't find her too bad actually. Didn't really have to learn her second phase, just enough to beat her by winging it a bit
The alchemist place must be about half the game. I think I'm at the end now
For the shady merchant from the last photo, do you just have to assemble the right weapon from what you've got? The blade seems obvious but no idea on the handle. Just trial and error? I didn't fight Fox so I didn't get her weapon (if you do)
Also, is the maid with the writing on her back that the NPC from the tower talks about actually a thing you can find?
I think that's all my AOB before finishing the game
The ouroboros sword you get from lightning lady is cool. Love the weapon designs in this

Have to say, that Laxasia fight was great. Parrying all those attacks in her first phase is so satisfying, as was deflecting all her projectiles back at her in the second. There's so many great bosses (both designs and fights) and I don't think any have annoyed me. I've probably parried about 90% of the time in the game with just a bit of dodging. It's like Sekiro combat but with the weapon variety of Bloodborne
The dash forward when an enemy staggers to get some damage in plus a Fatal Attack is very Bloodborne

Haven't beaten him yet. Came close
Was reading a couple of pages back and surprised to read some thought the bosses were poor. I can only really think of one bad one- Puppet of the Future, because he was nothing. I've enjoyed all of them and felt the difficulty was quite consistent. Romeo was a bit of a spike but he feels like the half way point so it's a good place for it
Bosses definitely the star of the show for me. The riffraff are mostly pushovers but it's fun beating on them with the cool weapons. Just enough exploration and side stuff to give it some depth but without the obtuseness of From. It even tells you when and where to progress NPC quests. I feel like I've probably done everything apart from the couple of things in a previous post
It probably helps that this is in contrast to having spent something like 200 hours in Elden Ring (and got stuck on a boss) so the more straightforward nature of it is a positive for me
Agree the last area does go on a bit. I love scaling a good tower though and I liked the music
The story has also gone places I wasn't expecting. It's nice to play something with middling expectations and then grow to love it. It really crept up on me and it's definitely given me my Sekiro/parry fix
Probably going back to ER/Malenia after this where all my parry practice will be meaningless and I'll have forgotten how to dodge

While I'm pre final boss reviewing; so many good, good weapons. I switched between a few quite regularly when I usually tend to stick to only one in these games. Didn't bother with combining any or the cube, summons or grinder stuff. Or consumables, throwing objects, etc which is pretty standard for me anyway
Probably used the Wintry Rapier and Puppet Cutter the most. Rapier is great with the amulet that raises damage after an attack and for quick heavy (stagger) attacks. Puppet Cutter's special does mad damage, especially with the amulet that raises Fable Art damage to staggered enemies
I think I will do another playthtrough to try out some of the weapons I didn't use

My dislike of the bosses from Romeo onwards was really down to me playing the game wrong. As you say (and as I only really realised against the final boss), it is far closer to Sekiro than your standard Soulsborne game. Trying to play it like I played Dark Souls just led to a lot of pain and all bosses in the second half felt like a slog (only exception being the one at the end of the Grand Exhibition section, who I think I beat on my second go).
I expect if I was playing it like Sekiro from the start I would have been much more positive about it.
I'm holding off on replaying for whenever the DLC gets released.

All done
Brilliant final boss, brilliant game
I think it managed to rise above being another souls game (even if that's just because I like it)
Now I really want that Wizard of Oz DLC/sequel
I've talked to everyone at the hotel, found a couple of letters, cut my hair and played the piano. Is there anything else to do post game? I was never able to do anything with the painting and still can't, which is weird
Tried to find Cat and Fox but they've buggered off. Can't decide whether to get the Nameless Puppet sword or the amulet that grants immunity to all status ailments. Amulet is most practical but new weapons are more fun

Aunty Treats if I'm remembering the right painting, you need to lie a good amount of times throughout the game, as well as listen to the records you can collect for the record player. The more you do so, the more the painting's nose grows (you also get messages about your mechanical heart every time you do). Eventually your hair starts changing and the messages you get about your heart sound progressively more like they're talking about a human (since puppets aren't supposed to lie, as you're told in the beginning IIRC, you lying and listening to music is showing your humanity and slowly changing you), and if you do it enough times the nose on the painting becomes a weapon you can collect.

Yeah, I was just reading about that. You have to lie at every single opportunity to get it though, which is a bit strict/silly. I told a couple of truths- Geppetto being a shit dad (worth it) and that I heard his name in that recording. I did still get the 'your heart is pounding' message though, which seems to be the highest. I'll grab the Nameless Puppet sword instead Think I got the best ending at least And I got to hold pick up the cat
Right, this needs another playthrough

Started NG+ and the Nameless Puppet sword is a beast. Absolutely destroyed the first boss
I don't think I've ever finished a NG+ in a souls game- they're suppose to be more difficult but seem way easier to me. I suppose the difficulty catches up with you eventually
The enemies are doing a lot of damage, but I'm doing more
You also unlock a new phase for the P-Organ that includes an upgrade that restores weapon durability on perfect guard. That is a very good upgrade
