MGSV is great at first but yes, your tolerance might start to get tested when Booby McNorks shows up. I actually think I gave up not too long after that but that was due to a combination of the fact that other games caught my eye and the missions were getting a bit samey. For a few quid it's worth playing through the first chunk of the game mind you.

Always tempted to get the Silent Hill collection to see how bad it is

Always tempted to get the Silent Hill collection to see how bad it is Ha! I'm the same. Can't justify giving Konami the money for it though.

It's not awful. There's not enough there bad enough to eclipse how awesome the games are.

It's playable but I went back and completed my PS2 version of Silent Hill 2 because the muddy visuals and fog made it a lot scarier IMO.

That's also very true. I did the PS2 version of SH2 & 3 after I played the HD ones and they are much better. But I honestly think that, if playing on PS2 isn't an option, the HD ones are still good enough. I found I soon got absorbed in the games regardless. 3 holds up better as there's less running about in the fog and more darkness but I even got used to the shit fog in 2 after a short while.

I'm having similar thoughts about Carmageddon: Max Damage. I played a fair amount of the original on PC (and even more of the free demo that was just one level). I know it would be a nostalgia trip for about 30 minutes and then I'd probably get bored, but at less than 4 quid it might be worth it...

I don't think I lasted more than 10 minutes in Carmageddon Max Damage. Played the absolute shit out of the original back in the day (with the ped mod from a PC zone cover disk!), but it really was better just living in my memories...

The days when you thought you were edgy and cool playing Carmageddon, Postal and Duke Nukem!

To be fair there was nothing like them at the time. I still remember the intro for Carmageddon, with Zero Signal by Fear Factory blaring in the background. Then firing it up and (with the cheat) splattering people and cows all over the place whilst destroying the other contestants. Mind you, even the zombie version was cool. In fact, I preferred it. gave it a different atmosphere. Marvellous.
But how many games can you do that in now. Just fire up any open world jobbie and you can mow people down left right and centre.

I just remember playing the demo level over and over, and every time I'd go for the victory where you destroy all the other cars, rather than trying to win the actual race (or kill all the pedestrians, which was impossible unless you picked Stella's electro-bastard death ray car).
Solid Granite Car is still one of the best powerups in any videogame ever

Oh yeah fuck actually racing properly. I always just smashed the shit out the other cars. There was a track towards the end that had this absolutely massive special forces police car thing in it. Not sure if you could ever get it (I know you could get the regular ones) but it was mental.
Edit: Just looked it up. You could actually nick it if you ever managed to trash it. Not sure I ever did.

Demanufacture was a fucking brilliant album and I think there were 3 or 4 tunes from it in Carmageddon.
Weirdly, although I like them more, I never thought Iron Maiden suited Carmageddon 2.

Pretty sure I saw Fear Factory live once, with Coal Chamber and Tura Satana supporting. Can't remember much about the night, but I'm sure a good time was had. Or maybe the 3rd support act was Human Waste Project? That whole period's a bit of a blur to be honest...

Saw them three times. They played Glasgow quite a bit in the late 90's / early 2000's. Fucking loved them.
They never really topped Demanufacture though.

I've seen Fear Factory a couple of times. Once at Leeds Festival (brill) and once in Newcastle (think Dino had been usurped on guitar by Christian then). Burton was a terribly weak link live although is ace on record. Doesn't look after his voice.
On topic...
Lunar New Year Sale.
Scored Iron Harvest (which I've nearly bought two or three times at full price) for around 30 quid.
If you're interested and have PC capability I believe it's much cheaper still on Steam.

Frankly, £2 is too much for Homefront Revolution. It is one of the most offensively mediocre shooters I've ever played.

I tried it ages ago and didn't hate it so went with it.
Now installing some other games before I move house and lose broadband for a couple weeks.

Didn't a lot of people buy it just for Timesplitters 2? Last week's BC sale with both Timesplitters games kind of made it redundant.

If you are only interested in TS2, now that the game is available standalone, it is a much better choice. The version included in Homefront doesn't let you save, tends to crash when certain enemies appear, and when you close the game you have to reinput the unlock code. On a side note, TS Future Perfect looks like it should be fun, but what's up with the drunken swaying camera? It makes me sick enough that I don't wanna keep playing.

Yeah, head bob was the flavour of the moment back then. Utterly weird mechanic.

It is QTE the game though, which is pretty important to mention. It's not DMC with a dumb anime story, it's an anime you occasionally Shenmue through. It’s not all qte, it’s a beat em up, panzer dragoon shooter, qte story, etc etc. Every level is different. It’s also bay shit crazy in a good way

Also everybody should buy sonic generations. 4k 60fps with auto hdr and it looks and plays like a brand new release.
